Original California 1970 Bmw 2002 on 2040-cars
Redwood City, California, United States

This is a 1970 BMW 2002. I have found some receipts that show it has been driving in California since 1989 in the central valley and SF bay area . You can hop in this car and go anywhere due to its great condition and constant maintenance through its life. The motor starts right up on a cold or hot day. The choke still works too! It shifts smoothly through all gears and is a blast to drive.
Recently the clutch was replaced, the brake system had a nice overhaul, and new window seals were installed. As i said, it has been heavily maintained which means fluids, bushings, suspension, working radio, etc. The good: Runs and drives great everyday 0 rust most of the car including shock towers Clean CA title Slicktop (no sunroof) Lots of rare parts that are original to the car Flush mounted side markers Early grills Blue tip antenna Factory AC console Bull bars on front and rear Original hub caps Original tool kit Amazing condition headliner Working window, wipers, lights, horn Cool old style seat belts Very little rust Locks work Paint is Decent All original aluminum moldings on car All gauges work Perfect Backseat Also comes with the A/C compressor and tons of extra parts in the trunk Of coarse it is not perfect for a 44 year old unrestored car... The drivers door handle stopped working from the outside. I have not had anybody look into it yet. The tires are starting to crack Tiny rust right by drivers side rocker Some rust under the spare tire well Could use a new carpet set Font seats in need of new material AC not connected The shift bushings could be replaced some surface rust on front bull bar gets a lot of attention and no matter where you go, people have to stop by and check it out and ask "what year is that 2002?" I believe that is everything about the car. Overall, a great candidate for a restoration project or a great daily driver. Hope to see it go to a good home! Good luck and Happy Bidding! |

These are the cars with the best and worst depreciation after 5 years
Thu, Nov 19 2020The average new vehicle sold in America loses nearly half of its initial value after five years of ownership. No surprise there; we all expect that shiny new car to start depreciating as soon as we drive it off the lot. But some vehicles lose value a lot faster than others. According to data provided by iSeeCars.com, trucks and truck-based sport utility vehicles generally hold their value better than other vehicle types, with the Jeep Wrangler — in both four-door Unlimited and standard two-door styles — and Toyota Tacoma sitting at the head of the pack. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's average five-year depreciation of 30.9% equals a loss in value of $12,168. That makes Jeep's four-door off-roader the best overall pick for buyers looking to minimize depreciation. The Toyota Tacoma's 32.4% loss in initial value means it loses just $10,496. The smaller dollar amount — the least amount of money lost after five years — indicates that Tacoma buyers pay less than Wrangler Unlimited buyers, on average, when they initially buy the vehicle. The standard two-door Jeep Wrangler is third on the list, depreciating 32.8% after five years and losing $10,824. Click here for a full list of the top 10 vehicles with the least depreciation over five years. On the other side of the depreciation coin, luxury sedans tend to plummet in value at a much faster rate than other vehicle types. The BMW 7 Series leads the losers with a 72.6% drop in value after five years, which equals an alarming $73,686. BMW's slightly smaller 5 Series is next, depreciating 70.1%, or $47,038, over the same period. Number three on the biggest losers list is the Nissan Leaf, the only electric vehicle to appear in the bottom 10. The electric hatchback matches the 5 Series with a 70.1% drop in value, but since it's a much cheaper vehicle, that percentage equals a much smaller $23,470 loss. Mercedes and VW battling Uber and Apple to spend billions on Nokia mapping division
Tue, May 12 2015Whether for autonomous driving or simply better navigation, digital mapping is closely linked with the future of motoring. The sale of a major player in that industry is spurring a showdown between automotive behemoths and tech giants, and it's a fascinating battle to watch unfold. Nokia is selling its Here mapping division, and while the company might not have the name recognition of Google, it controls about 70 percent of the auto market. The business is valued at $785 million, according to Reuters, but is likely to sell for significantly more. Case in point: Uber reportedly submitted a $3 billion bid. Apple has also been rumored to be among those interested in purchasing Here. A trio of German automotive heavyweights is mounting a challenge to Silicon Valley, though. According to Reuters speaking to two unnamed insiders, Daimler, BMW, and Audi are teaming up to submit a joint bid for an undisclosed sum. They're worried that if Here falls under the control of tech companies, then automakers might have limited availability to these vital maps in the future. Nokia bought Here for $8.1 billion in 2007, according to Reuters. The company operates a fleet of vehicles with cameras and LIDAR that drive around the world to create high-definition maps. It also generates even more information by using the GPS data from shipping and trucking companies.
Jeremy Clarkson chooses his top 10 cars for 2015 and 2016
Mon, Aug 15 2016Jeremy Clarkson is well-known for his role as co-host on the old Top Gear. But the frontman of the upcoming Amazon Prime Show, The Grand Tour, also has a standing column for The Sunday Times in the UK where he reviews the latest cars. With fall nearing, Clarkson put out a list of his top-10 cars from this year and 2015. Some on the list will surprise you, while others represent everything we've come to love about Clarkson. In order to make his list of star cars, the vehicles must offer what co-host James May calls "the fizz." The vehicles, Clarkson claims, have something that is out of the ordinary. Whether it's the car's looks, the way it gets up to speed, or its high-tech gadgets, Clarkson's top-10 list is made up of items that are more than just tools for getting from point A to B. So which ones made the list? Head over to the column in The Sunday Times.
