1976 Bmw 2002 Auto, Sahara Beige In Good Condition No Rust!!!! on 2040-cars
Miami, Florida, United States
I bought this car recently (about 8 months ago) with the full intention of keeping it for at least a few years. Didn't think I was not going to be able to spend enough time on the car (I have 7 mo old baby keeping me busy!). I've tackled a few small projects, which I will detail.
OK, this is a 1976 BMW 2002 auto. Last year of production for this classic. Pretty much stock as far as I can tell, other than small modifications like Weber 32/36 double barrel carb and most of the SMOG equipment removed. Engine runs strong, does not overheat, even in 95 degree Miami weather and stop and go traffic on I-95! Does not smoke or burn oil. A few tiny drops of oil here and there. Transmission shifts perfect. Will kick a little bit when R is engaged. I'm quite certain a new tranny mount will take care of this. Suspension is good. Needs new tie rods and possibly some bushings also. Brakes are fine. Matching Michelin tires with 75-80% life left. Interior is decent. Passenger side bottom has a rip. Drivers back a couple small holes. Rear seats are ok other than a repair done on the upper RH corner of the back. Door cards and rear panels are fine. New seat hinge covers. Both doors open and close perfectly fine. So do the windows and vents. Carpet is OK. Coco mats for the front only in great shape. Dash has a few cracks, but it's still very solid. Instrument cluster is working fine other than clock, wich is not. I have a spare cluster with a tach that I intended to replace but never got to it. This will go with the car together with a list of new and used spares which I list at the end. Glovebox is in good shape and closes good. Headliner has two rips. Otherwise clean and tight. I have an OEM headliner, pre-sewn. This will go with the car also. Both sunvisors are in perfect condition. The car is equipped with A/C. All the components are there but it does not blow cold. Compressor clutch does not engage. I did not spend any time figuring out what could be wrong. It may be as simple as a fuse, freon charge or a complete rebuild. Who knows. Blower works in all speeds. Radio is there but is not connected. Dome light works. all backlighting works good, inlcuding the dimmer and shifter light. All controls work fine. The body of the car is in very good condition. There is no rust other than some surface pitting in the paint, mostly on the roof. Shock towers are impeccable. Rockers are also perfect. With minimal preparation and nice paint job this car will look like a million bucks! Body is very staight! Trunk is very clean and there is no rust at all. OEM jack and tools are present. A brand new tool roll is inlcuded. Engine bay is clean. Picture does not show the windshield wiper fluid tank, but I have a used one with no leaks and new cap. Just never installed it back. As mentioned most of the SMOG equipment has been removed or disabled by previous owner. I removed all the unnecessary wiring related, which was left behind disconnected. New Optima battery 30 days ago. I cleaned, primed and repainted the batter bracket. New hold down rod. New grounding strap and positive cable (OEM). New headlights (Sealed beams) replaced 30 days ago. Parts offered with the car: Used set of door cards and one rear panel. Used instrument cluster with tach. Used but great condition OEM rims with hub caps. New OEM front licence plate bracket. New OEM headliner. New and used assortment of body clips/retainers. New thermostat. New fuse kit. Used sealed beam. New OEM LH rear light gasket. So, this is a very solid car. Fantastic candidate for a quick restoration project (paint, upholstery and other small things here and there). Don't expect a showroom car. This one is not! I have been driving this car 4-5 times a week for the past several months without a single incident. It's a daily driver as-is. This 2002's are going up in price weekly, so there is no loosing in buying a good solid one like this. Inspections and test drives are welcome and encouraged. Bring your friend, mechanic, father in law, etc. All this BEFORE you commit to buy the car. Ebay is not a game. Posting this costs real money, so don't play with me! Bidders with less than 2 positive feedback please contact me before bidding. Otherwise bids will be cancelled by me. Payment is as follows: immediate deposit of $500 by paypal. Balance no later than 5 days after auction by cashiers check of any bank with a branch in Miami, FL, or cash. I could accept Paypal or c/c, but check with me before considering this. Car is located in Miami, FL 33133. Driven almost daily to Key Biscayne, FL 33149. Will assist buyer with shipping. But all arrangements of transport will be made by buyer. All costs related to be paid by buyer. As you can expect this car is offered AS-IS, no warranties implied or expressed. FL clear title in hand to my name. To arrange for a viewing or test drive contact me at 786-999-4811 or e-mail me. |

BMW to be featured at 2016 Monterey Motorsports Reunion
Tue, Aug 18 2015The 2015 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion just wrapped up, with the Shelby GT350 serving as the featured marque. Track officials, however, are not wasting any time – or enthusiastic momentum – in announcing a featured marque for next year's event. Next year's Reunion will highlight BMW on the occasion of its centenary. Now if you're thinking that the Bavarian manufacturer hasn't been building automobiles for that long, you're technically correct. The company started out as an aircraft engine manufacturer 99 years ago in 1916. It then got into motorcycles in 1923 before rolling out its first automobile – the Dixi that was a licensed version of the Austin 7 – in 1928. However you trace the automaker's history that's still one heck of a long time. And BMW has been active in motor racing throughout, making it a worthy candidate for next year's celebration. This won't be the first time that Munich's finest will be featured at the reunion. BMW was given the same honor back in 1996. The featured marque can alternately be an automaker, a specific model, a type of vehicle, or even an accomplished racing driver. Last year's was Maserati, preceded by the Chevy Corvette, Shelby Cobra, Jaguar, and the legendary Dan Gurney. Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Jaguar, and Porsche have each been featured thrice - that's right, thrice! - in the history of the retrospective event. The celebration takes place August 18-21, 2016 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on the scenic Monterey Peninsula. "The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is a perfect stage on which to celebrate 100 years of BMW," stated Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America, LLC. "The BMW brand and the legend of The Ultimate Driving Machine® was forged on and continues to be refined on racing circuits all over the world. In the United States, Laguna Seca has played a starring role. This year, our BMW Z4 GTLM racing cars finished 1-2 in IMSA competition there - almost 40 years to the date a BMW 3.0 CSL won our very first race on the classic circuit.

The 2016 BMW M4 GTS sounds so good
Wed, Feb 24 2016Critics and those hopelessly in love with the limited-edition, juiced-up 2016 BMW M4 GTS will both concede that water injection isn't a new technology, but it has also never been used on a production car with an intercooler before. It's traditionally been the realm of highly-tuned supercharged piston aircraft engines and some jets, although some pre-intercooler cars used the system as well. All that history sets the scene, but the M4 GTS steals it. Carfection takes a close, loving look at all the little details that set this BMW and its novel water-injection system apart from a typical M4, which it should be noted is no slouch at all. While it's DCT-only, it puts out 493 hp (a full 68 hp more than a normal M4). The example Carfection examines is painted in the available Frozen Dark Grey, with lovely 19- and 20-inch snowflake-style alloys set off in a color known as Acid Orange. Don't miss the startup and revving. The M4 GTS breathes through a titanium exhaust system, and it sounds monumental. As we mentioned in the reveal piece, this is a very limited-production vehicle. 700 will be built, and only 300 will make it to the States – and only 30 in the UK, where Carfection is based. Enjoy the video above.
