 70+ pictures BELOW!

Auction is for MY personal BMW M20 2002... Its been my daily driver for over a year now, I just bought a "project house" last week and need to move some of my toys. This was a hard decision to sell it and I'm already having regrets as I write this.

 Many of you have seen this car in person at Bimmerfest East, Deutsche Classic, Mpact East, Carlisle Import Show, etc...

The car is NOT a show car or trailer queen, its a very clean driver.

* Please call me and I can tell you about the car in person if you like, SERIOUS inquiries ONLY. NO TRADES, NO LOW Ballers & NO tire kickers.

About the car:

I bought the car from a personal friend who was having some health issues, (I actually bought a garage FULL of 2002 parts, 2 complete 02 cars and a 1957 Isetta- just to let you know what type of guy he was!).  It had been sitting in a garage since 2001. The car was bone stock and RUST FREE. He told me he bought the car from the owner of a local BMW dealership many years prior. I brought the car home and started what you see here today. We pulled the engine and trans and installed a M20 6cyl. (2.7 bottom end & rebuilt 2.5 head). Below I will outline the parts we used;

 GOODS:

* The car runs GREAT!!

* Engine is VERY strong!

* The transmission shifts 100%

* New PA state inspection

* Beautiful color combo

* Clean PA title.

* Drive it home today.

BADS:

* The car is NOT PERFECT- if you want "perfect", this car is NOT for you.

* The seats still have the orig horse hair stuffing and is not a friend to your back, I stuffed the drivers with foam for long trips

The driveshaft needs to be balanced, has a vibration at certain speeds & I just haven't had the time to do it.

The valve seals seem to be leaking under hard decel and it lets out some smoke. Its been this way for 2000 miles. Uses a qt of oil here and there.

The paint is NOT perfect, the front nose panel & LF fender were repainted what looks like years ago (no sign of a wreck) and paint is "checked" in those places - like small cracks in the paint.

*  The car was sitting in a garage that had a roof that dripped for 10 years and dripped in the center of the roof -cracking the paint. We sanded it, spray'd it (not bad) but, tough color to match... hence the tri color vinyl on the roof.

* Exhaust is loud and gets a little annoying after 2 hours of driving

* Stock brakes are not the best, once in a while the calipers get a little sticky, just haven't had a chance to upgrade them.

*  I'm SURE I'm missing something... PLEASE come see it in person and ASK questions!

NOTE: Car is being sold AS/IS...

BMW chooses Tesla's Supercharger network for its future EVs

Wed, Oct 18 2023

BMW, following the lead of many other automakers, has confirmed this week that it will adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS), delivering EV drivers in the U.S. and Canada access to Tesla’s Supercharger network. The move goes a step further in cementing NACS as the universal system of choice. The conversion to Tesla plugs will begin formally in 2025 for BMW, as well as its Mini and Rolls-Royce brands in the U.S. market. Those marques now use the Combined Charging System (CCS) for EV charging. “It is our top priority to ensure that our drivers have easy access to reliable, fast charging," said Sebastian Mackensen, President & CEO, BMW of North America. NACS, which began as began as TeslaÂ’s proprietary charging connection, rapidly has become the new standard in its native land after Ford announced it would adopt it this past summer. This was quickly followed by General Motors. Since then, brands including Rivian, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Polestar, and Jaguar have climbed d on board NACS. Earlier this month, the Hyundai Motor Group announced it would also provide customers with the NACS connector across its namesake, Kia, and Genesis marques. BMW says it will work across its three marques in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition to TeslaÂ’s charging network by early 2025, and owners will be able to pay for charging using their respective vehicle brandÂ’s own app. Related Video: How to charge a non-Tesla on a Supercharger

BMW planning to bring an autonomous vehicle to market by 2021

Fri, Jul 1 2016

At a press conference in Munich today, BMW announced that it plans to have a fully autonomous vehicle on public roads by 2021. Tech companies Intel and Mobileye will be partners in the project, and the group will be working on an open platform for use by other manufacturers and developers. BMW has been developing autonomous technology for ten years. Despite the recent death of a Tesla driver while using the company's Autopilot system, BMW believes its technology will be fully ready for the roads in the next five years. The group is using a combination of real-world and digital simulations to test their products, with BMW, Intel, and Mobileye each sharing a bit of the project. Tesla uses a version of Mobileye's current driver-assistance technology. BMW eventually hopes to have vehicles that don't require anyone to be in the vehicle while it drives, allowing for drop-off, pick-up, and self-parking capabilities. The group's open platform is something it hopes other manufacturers can use. The goal is to foster an archetype that regulatory bodies can use to make industry-wide laws and standards. The auto industry seems poised for a shift toward EVs and autonomous vehicles. Volkswagen recently announced a plan to bring 30 electric cars to market in the next 10 years. Local Motors has developed autonomous, electric public transport. It's not clear what sort of vehicle BMW will bring, but it did have a modified i8 on display at the conference. BMW looking to save billions with cost cuts

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

BMW is planning a fairly extensive overhaul in a bid to recoup some its annual costs, with CEO Norbert Reithofer (pictured above) aiming to save three to four billion euro ($4 to $5.4 billion) per year to help keep the company's profit margins between eight and 10 percent, while also maintaining investments in production expansion and new tech. BMW's profit margins sat at 9.4 percent in 2013.
According to Automotive News Europe, Reithofer is none too pleased about costs at Mini and on the 1 Series, although neither AN nor its source story, from Germany's Manager Magazin, elaborate on what steps could be taken to improve losses on either project. That makes it hard to figure out just where the fat will be trimmed from.
What may happen, though, is that BMW attempts to trim 100 million euros ($135 million) from its German labor costs each year; a solution hinted at a few weeks ago by Germany newspaper Muenchner Merkur. While a dramatic cost reduction, 100 million euros still doesn't begin to even approach the savings envisioned by Reithofer.
