1975 BMW 2002 - $21k in work / parts in the past 2 years

Low reserve price

Up for sale is my 1975 4 speed BMW 2002. The list of upgrades is long:

This is a numbers matching car. I have priced the car to sell and the 80 pictures is my

attempt to honestly represent the condition of the vehicle. The odometer reads 126,000

however I cannot represent these as actual miles.

I have all receipts and documentation to substantiate the work that has been done

and the parts that have been purchased in the past 24 months.

I also have a really nice 1995 M3 listed for sale. Please see my other auctions

The car is rust free and the body is rock solid.

The car has had over $18,000 in work done in the past two years.
It is a very strong, high performance motor that moves the car quickly down the road.
I have a stock 2002 and this car is much, much faster.
I am listing this car for far less than the work that has been done. I have all documentation for the car for the past 10 years.

The paint is an overspray that looks great but is not perfect.
I get compliments on the car every time I take it out.
There is one crack in the paint on the passenger rear fender.
Guaranteed no rust – just an area where the re-spray has come loose.
The engine compartment was not repainted as is as original.

The weber DCOE setup has no choke so you must let the car warm up for 5 -10 minutes.
I am representing this car honestly and as completely as I can.
It is a great deal for someone who wants a clean, rust-free, fast 2002 and who is willing to take it the rest of the way if you desire a concours car.
    The hard part is over.

If you know the 2002 you will understand the value of this car.

This is a used car and is being sold AS-IS. I encourage inspection prior to sale.

The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.

BMW M3 and M4 leak ahead of Detroit debut

    Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Images of the overhauled BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe have leaked ahead of a debut at next month's Detroit Auto Show, along with option sheets and some specs.
Both wear the standard hallmarks of BMW's M division. There's a subtle power dome in the hood, along with the requisite M3/4-branded strakes on the front fenders. The front and rear fascia are more aggressive than what we've seen in the 3/4 Series M Sport package, as well. Split-five-spoke wheels mean the neither car will stand out in the family portrait and those gold calipers, meanwhile, signify what has been rumored for some time - the M3 and M4 will be getting carbon-ceramic brakes.
The cabin is home to the standard suite of M accoutrements, including a new steering wheel and more heavily bolstered seats. Special trim, including carbon fiber, will be available to further set these cars apart from the standard models.

Jalopnik and Consumer Reports see who can pull off the best snow drift

    Fri, Feb 20 2015

The weather throughout much of the United States is pretty awful at the moment with some combination of extremely low temperatures, inches of snow and maybe some ice underneath it all. The folks at Jalopnik and Consumer Reports are making the absolute best out of a difficult situation by heading to CR's snow-covered test track and attempting to make the longest drift in a quartet of very different performance vehicles. Jalopnik brought along a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Wagon, a Subaru WRX STI, a BMW 228i and a 1973 Volkswagen Baja Bug (heck yeah!) for the challenge. Also, the track was perfect for this group, with a mix of packed snow in places and still a few inches of unsullied powder in spots too. Ostensibly the goal was to get the tail to step out through a particular corner, but in reality this was more about having hilarious fun in the snow with fast cars. The result just looks like the best time humanly possible in this weather.

BMW to offer carbon fiber wheels in a year or two

    Sun, 23 Feb 2014

The Citroën SM sat on the first set of production glass fiber and resin wheels in 1972 when parent company Michelin developed the exotic hoops in order to take the SM rallying. It wasn't until 2008 that we got the first all-carbon-fiber wheel for passenger cars in the form of a prototype model from Weds Sports in Japan that remained a prototype. Australian company Carbon Revolution followed that a year later with its CR-9 all-CF wheel, first introduced on the Shelby Ultimate Aero and now available for independent purchase for about $15,000 per set. BMW could be the first OEM to offer entire wheels in carbon fiber reinforced plastic in two years.
The wheels - either all-CFRP or using a CFRP rim and alloy spokes - were shown off during BMW's Innovation Days in Munich and are products of the development work done on its i-branded cars. The full-CFRP wheel is 35-percent lighter than a forged alloy wheel, the hybrid alloy and CFRP wheel is 25-percent lighter, making for a decent drop in unsprung rotating weight. As demonstrators during a tech day the wheels aren't yet in the pipeline for production and EU approval, but an article in Auto Express claims that they could be on the market as soon as two years from now.
Other possible parts include a full carbon fiber steering wheel and propeller shaft, the latter of which is coming as a single-piece component on the new M3 and M4. BMW is also talking up its use of secondary carbon fiber - waste material from i3 and i8 production - that can be used for items like IP support structures, seat frames and spare wheels in place of traditional metals like aluminum and magnesium. There's an excerpt of the Innovation Day press release below with more details.
