I'm selling my rare in the US BMW 2000tii Touring that I imported 7 months ago from This hatchback is very versatile; the rear seat when folded allows for a good size cargo area. You can go to the store and just fill it up with easy access to the back. We even went down to home supply store with my brother's Touring (also a tii) and put a door with frame in. The Hatchback accommodated 3 thirds of the door inside while a only a quarter was sticking out. The interior is in decent to good shape. The dash (one piece) is crack free, the seats are not torn and they are firm, the headliner is superb for its age. The front seats are not original to the car; the driver seat is a FlowFit while the passenger seat is from a 74 2002. The carpet is worn out and could use replacement. the floor mats are in very good shape. The steering Wheel is a 35cm Petri wheel. The wheel is in good shape. All the lights are working properly. The cars odometer shows to have 18276 Km (most likely it has 118276 as the odometer has place for only 5 digits). This Touring has a 2.0liter motor with a 4 Speed transmission and 3:64 rear end. The car is great for around town while it also cruises nicely on the freeway. The car runs and drives very well. The car was originally white but was re-painted Silver (Polaris Neu) several years ago. The paint job looks good but it does have some flaws such as some scratches and a few dents. The previous owner did a good job with the re-paint as the car only exhibits white paint under the carpet. The car shows to have a few areas with rust. Both rocker panels have a small rusted are towards the rear wheel arch. The undercarriage is in good shape; it has only surface rust. All the floorboards, frame rails and schock towers are solid. The chassis is very solid; the front clip might have been replaced before with another tii front clip (no snorkle). The suspension feels tight altough I think that the front shocks are somewhat worn and could be replaced with some Bilsteins. The car has a very vintage and rare set of Daytona Fondiers 6x13" wheels with 205 60/13 tires. The wheels were recently refinished by Wheel Technics in Santa Clara. The car is currently registered in Recent work done: Complete rear brakes Stainless Steel brake lines (front and rear) Bottom end (replaced all bearings, gaskets and seals). Professionally had the radiator overhauled. Tune-up Shifter bushings Wheels re-finished by Wheel Technics Buyer responsible for shipping charges; I will assist with shipping to anywhere in the You are welcome to see the photo album with 300+ pictures of every angle on this cool Touring. http://1972bmw2000tiitouring.shutterfly.com/ Please feel free in contacting me if you have questions or if you like to have more or specific pictures. 408 644-7260 or through EBay email. BMW 3 Series set for mild facelift
Fri, 28 Mar 2014The latest BMW 3 Series is pretty new, right? Well it's been on the market for the better part of three years now. And on a typical six-year production cycle, that means it's halfway through its life. It only makes sense, then, that BMW should be preparing a little mid-life facelift, and that's just what we appear to be looking at in these latest spy shots.
The changes will likely be minimal when the revised 3 Series debuts sometime in the middle of next year, with the visual changes to the exterior centering around a new front bumper. New lighting front and rear may also be part of the package, and you can also expect some updates to the interior while those Bavarian engineers are at it. Take a closer look in the gallery of high-res spy shots above for an idea of what to expect.

8 automakers, 15 utilities collaborate on open smart-charging for EVs
Thu, Jul 31 2014We're going to lead with General Motors here. GM is one of eight automakers working with 15 utilities and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) at developing a "smart" plug-in vehicle charging system. Why did we start with GM? Because it's the first automaker whose press release we read that mentioned the other seven automakers. Points for sharing. For the record, the collaboration also includes BMW, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Ford. The utilities include DTE Energy, Duke Energy, Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas & Electric. The idea is to develop a so-called "demand charging" system in which an integrated system lets the plug-ins and utilities communicate with each other so that vehicle charging is cut back at peak hours, when energy is most expensive, and ramped up when the rates drop. Such entities say there's a sense of urgency to develop such a system because the number of plug-in vehicles on US roads totals more than 225,000 today and is climbing steadily. There's a lot of technology involved, obviously, but the goal is to have an open platform that's compatible with virtually any automaker's plug-in vehicle. No timeframe was disclosed for when such a system could go live but you can find a press release from EPRI below. EPRI, Utilities, Auto Manufacturers to Create an Open Grid Integration Platform for Plug-in Electric Vehicles PALO ALTO, Calif. (July 29, 2014) – The Electric Power Research Institute, 8 automakers and 15 utilities are working to develop and demonstrate an open platform that would integrate plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) with smart grid technologies enabling utilities to support PEV charging regardless of location. The platform will allow manufacturers to offer a customer-friendly interface through which PEV drivers can more easily participate in utility PEV programs, such as rates for off-peak or nighttime charging. The portal for the system would be a utility's communications system and an electric vehicle's telematics system. As the electric grid evolves with smarter functionality, electric vehicles can serve as a distributed energy resource to support grid reliability, stability and efficiency. With more than 225,000 plug-in vehicles on U.S. roads -- and their numbers growing -- they are likely to play a significant role in electricity demand side management.
