1970 BMW 2002 M2 Coupling the handling and low weight of the 2002 with the high revving S14 power plant from the legendary E30 M3, the "M2" is the enthusiast's dream car! I have been driving and sorting this car out for the last few months and feel it is a particularly nice example. It is an absolute blast to drive! The car is a 1970 base model 2002 that has been heavily modified to compliment the upgraded power plant. The engine comes from a 1990 E30 M3 with 88k miles on it at the time of the install. It has been driven ~600 miles since completion. It handles like a go kart and is ready for your favorite canyon, track day, autox, or just driving to the coffee shop in style! Engine and Exhaust: 2.3L S14 from 1990 E30 M3 (88k miles at time of install) Turner Motorsports Chip EVO Exhaust Cam Gear Oil Windage Tray Remote Oil Filter Earl's Oil Cooler with Braided Lines MSD Ignition with Magnecore Wires Curt Ingraham Custom Radiator and Overflow Tank Custom 2.5" Full Stainless Steel exhaust with Sebring Resonator and Muffler Transmission and Driveline: Getrag 245/10 Close Ratio (Dogleg) 5 Speed Transmission Short Shift Kit Sachs Heavy Duty Clutch JB Racing 8 lb. I have the new gears to fix it and will include them. There are some very minor cracks in the dash, which could easily be filled Hazard switch is worn and only works intermittently (turn signals work just fine) Aftermarket steering wheel horn button is not wired up (I have and will include the aftermarket plunger to make it work) There is some very minor oil seepage from a couple seals on the engine. It wasn't bad enough to cause me to want to fix it, but I wanted to point it out. Stereo install is not complete and the head unit still needs to be wired up It has limited sound deadening and the exhaust is loud. It would be easy to add more if you want more daily driver and less hot rod. Tires are really made for autox or track days and should probably be replaced to minimize wear during daily street driving Every time you drive people will wave to you and want to talk about your car. I have done my best to document all of its features and anything I feel still needs to be addressed, but feel free to contact me with questions. To the best of my knowledge and ability to inspect the car (I have spent quite a bit of time underneath it!) it is 100% rust free. I have all of the documentation for this car including that of the previous owner for a full history.

2014 BMW Z4 sDrive35is
Tue, 14 May 2013The BMW Z3/Z4 roadster has never really had a widespread following because it has either been too humble and small a roadster (albeit with some fun and very low-volume M editions) or it has been - in this E89 generation - too casual an image leader with no racier aspirations. The current 480-hp Z4 GTEs don't count, since they are as stock a Z4 as today's Pamela Anderson is the same blonde actress we knew as Heidi on Home Improvement. You know, sort of like those ever-so-slightly modified Toyota Camry coupes competing in NASCAR.
The ultimate highpoint for the BMW Z roadster franchise was at the very start of its life in the mid-90s, in the James Bond film GoldenEye with Pierce Brosnan. The Stinger missiles that Q's team installed behind the Z3's headlights were never fired, and BMW never even offered this self-defense package as an option. Yet another case of the ol' bait and switch.
And in all these subsequent years of Z3s and Z4s strutting their long-hooded stuff, the little sporting Bimmer could really have used a live Stinger missile or two to spice things up. The current Z4 exists, it is pretty dang sexy, and BMW seems content to let it linger there. We just drove the new midlife version of the roadster near BMW headquarters in Munich, and it served to reinforce our feelings.
BMW revises X1 to tide it over until replacement
Tue, 17 Dec 2013It's been over five years since BMW first introduced the X1 at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, and a bit over a year since it brought the compact crossover to these shores. Soon the Bavarian automaker will replace the X1 with a new model based on the company's new front-drive architecture, but not before it gives it a few updates to keep it fresh.
Set to be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show next month alongside the Z4 Pure Fusion Design and the new M3 sedan and M4 coupe, the enhanced X1 benefits from some new exterior accents, a spruced-up interior and new technology packed inside.
New air intakes in the bumper and integrated daytime driving lights distinguish the front end, with new wheel and color options available. Inside, certain versions get a new dashboard treatment, among other minor trim updates, and BMW has installed its latest ConnectedDrive suite to keep it up with the times. Scroll down for the full details.
BMW spotted testing new 5 Series Gran Turismo
Tue, Nov 3 2015As previously reported, BMW is going ahead with a second-generation 5 Series Gran Turismo, no matter how silly the first generation of the sedan-cum-hatchback-cum-wagon may be. These are our first spy photos of that new vehicle, which is still on track for a late 2016 debut. Perhaps the best thing we can say about the next 5GT is that it won't be quite so hunchbacked. The seven images provided by our spy photographer show a car with a profile that's far more svelte than the bulbous entry on offer today. The roofline, in particular, is more aggressively raked at the rear and there's a proper, distinguished rear deck, as well. Part of what makes today's 5 Series GT look so bizarre is the combination of an almost fastback tail with a very tall decklid height. While the updated model still features that high rear – you can actually see where the beltline kicks up at the rear quarter window – the fastback styling has been softened so that it doesn't look quite so bizarre. The new Gran Turismo should also be a much better steer than the 5GT currently on offer. Our spies report that this next-gen model will be significantly lighter, which is something we can always get behind. Engine options will consist of gas, diesel, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid, as is the trend, although specifics aren't quite available yet. Spitballing, though, it's almost a guarantee that the next 5GT will share the 5 Series sedan's engine lineup. Expect a number of carryover engines there – 2.0-liter turbo four, 3.0-liter turbo six, 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, and 3.0-liter diesel, probably – along with a plug-in hybrid option, although nothing's been confirmed so far. With an official debut slated for late next year, either Paris or Los Angeles seem like a logical debut location.
