2012 Bentley Continental Gt Awd on 2040-cars
Brooklyn, New York, United States
|
This Continental GT has everything you’d expect from a
Bentley but comes in a one of a kind package. The solid Beluga exterior has
been converted from the usually mild looks of the GT into a more aggressive
sports car with the use of a limited edition MansorY wide-body styling package.
The combination of beautiful craftsmanship, and the presence of the exposed
carbon fiber on the MansorY package, give this car a unique high-end look. To
further add to the uniqueness of this car’s exterior, a custom set of one-off
22 inch Forgiato wheels have replaced the factory 20 inch wheels to compliment
the new Manory Body Styling Package.
This is all finished off with an upgrade in brakes with the addition of
a Brembo brake kit. Under the vented carbon fiber hood sits the heart of this
machine. A 6 liter twin turbocharged W12 engine producing 567 horsepower
and 516 foot-pounds of torque. All that power, in combination with the 6 speed
quickshift transmission, is capable or propelling the Bentley upwards of 200mph
with little hesitation. When you step into this Continental GT, the first thing that
stands out is the crimson-like color of the Hotspur leather interior. This
already eye-catching interior is brought up a notch with the addition of
embroidered Bentley insignias on the headrests, drilled alloy foot pedals and
the piano black trim; which are all part of the Mulliner Driving Specification
package this car is equipped with. Other additions to the cabin are the ‘Naim
for Bentley’ premium audio system, contrast stitching, duo-tone trimmed
steering wheel, deep pile carpet mats and front seats with ventilation and
massage function. All this is enough to give even the most demanding of pilots
the perfect driving experience before they even put their foot on the pedal. Upgrades 1.
Mansory Body Styling Package $50K 2.
Brembo Break Package $10K 3.
Forgiato Custom made/painted Wheels $10K The car will be sold with both the factory and aftermarket
wheel and tire packages to provide the option of going factory and winter
driving. The vehicle is also standardly equipped with all wheel
drive. More about the vehicle by clicking here |

2014 Bentley Flying Spur
Tue, 21 May 2013Redefining Super Luxury On A Shrinking Planet
Anyone on Earth with access to the Internet, a television or radio for the last 20 years knows that China is no longer the poor stronghold for strict Communist ideals that it was for much of the 20th Century. (Well, at least not in some places.) Traveling to China twice in less than a month - first to Shanghai for a very international auto show and now to Beijing to drive and review the 2014 Bentley Flying Spur - I've learned that there's no lack of personal wealth, at least in two of the world's largest cities.
And yet, even I think the scene before me is a little bit ridiculous. Here I am, slowly climbing up a hillside to reach a fortification at something called Zhuanduo Pass, where roughly a dozen pristine examples of Western decadence sit idling their hand-built 12-cylinder engines in the shadow of China's revered and awesome Great Wall. Not five kilometers south of here, I'd passed an old man in traditional all-black garb, literally carrying a bundle of sticks on his back from one side of a village to the other. Now as I look through the snug-fitting and silent side glass of the my $200,000+ palace on wheels, I'm more apt to see fat German tourists crisping in the hot Chinese sun while blowing the equivalent of an average Chinese monthly paycheck on lunch and a few Great Wall souvenirs.
W12-powered Bentley Batur coupe shows its swept-back profile
Mon, Aug 15 2022Bentley's Mulliner division is nearly ready to introduce the Batur, a limited-edition coupe designed to preview a new design language and to celebrate the W12 engine. The big coupe remains shrouded in darkness, but a new teaser image gives us a better look at its silhouette. Viewed from the side, the Batur (which is named after a crater lake in Bali, Indonesia) looks like it's longer than the current-generation Continental GT. Its front end wears single-piece swept-back headlights rather than the twin oval units fitted to the Continental GT and its rear lights look thinner. We're told that the coupe "showcases a new design language for Bentley," one that puts a new spin on classic styling cues and relies "on contrast to provide definition." This design language will permeate the EVs that Bentley will launch starting in 2025. While the Batur's sheet metal previews a range of upcoming battery-powered cars, its drivetrain is very much rooted in the present. The model will benefit from an evolution of the familiar twin-turbocharged W12 that delivers more torque and horsepower than any variant of the engine to date. Bentley stresses that "advanced chassis systems" will ensure that the Batur is engaging to drive even on a twisty road. Bentley will introduce the Batur in Monterey, California, at 8:00 p.m. Pacific time on August 20 (that's 11:00 p.m. in New York City). Full details will be released when the veil comes off, and we wouldn't be surprised if every build slot is spoken for by the time of the unveiling — few-off models are in hot demand and the Bacalar unveiled in 2020 was sold-out before members of the public saw it in the metal. And, the odds of seeing two identical examples of the Batur are low regardless of how many Bentley chooses to build. The company notes that buyers will have the option of customizing the color and finish of nearly every surface; 3D-printed 18K gold parts will even be offered. Related video:
VW CEO lost his job over buggy software that delayed new models
Mon, Jul 25 2022It says a lot about the state of the auto industry and where it's going that software problems have cost the CEO of a carmaker his job. Volkswagen ousted Herbert Diess as chief executive officer after severe software-development delays set back the scheduled launch of new Porsches, Audis and Bentleys. This was untenable considering buggy software postponed the debut of VW’s initial rollout of ID models, and customers are still having to drop off their cars at the dealer for updates the company has struggled to make over the air. Sure, Diess also didnÂ’t do enough to make allies and became increasingly isolated due to his hard-nosed leadership style. In his push to transform the company into an electric-vehicle leader, he repeatedly clashed with labor leaders by warning VW was losing out to Tesla and needed to cut thousands of jobs. But failures at the carmakerÂ’s software unit Cariad ultimately eroded DiessÂ’s support from the powerful Porsche and Piech family that calls the shots. Back in December, VW overhauled its management board, stripping Diess of some responsibilities while tasking him to turn around Cariad. While thereÂ’s been a lot of re-arranging since then, Diess didnÂ’t manage to make the issues go away. Discord at Cariad has pushed back the rollout of important new models including the electric Porsche Macan, a high-volume sport utility vehicle for the division thatÂ’s planning an initial public offering in the fourth quarter. AudiÂ’s new line of Artemis EVs has been delayed by around two years to 2027. And VWÂ’s ultra-luxury brand Bentley may not be able to go all-electric by the end of this decade as planned because of the software issues, Automobilwoche reported earlier this month. “Taking over the ship at Cariad seems to have been DiessÂ’s downfall,” said Matthias Schmidt, an independent auto analyst based in Berlin. VWÂ’s solutions to challenges tend to reflect its status as an industrial behemoth: itÂ’s able to throw lots of money and people at its problems. But modernizing the company for the digital age is going to take bringing in talent and building skillsets outside its traditional zones of expertise. Drivers increasingly demand intuitive user interfaces and services that could create new revenue streams, if done correctly. “Software is the key to the future,” TeslaÂ’s Elon Musk tweeted when one of his followers asked about VW switching CEOs. Diess certainly didnÂ’t lack ambition.
