2001 Audi Tt Quatro Convertible Roadster on 2040-cars

2001 AUDI TT QUATTRO CONVERTIBLE ROADSTER - A beautiful car for sure - You will not be disappointed with this vehicle - Lovingly driven and maintained for my wife and garaged it's whole life - Purchased from an immediate family member when it was only 2 years old. One small wear spot on the driver-side seat bolster (up on the side (middle) where you rub getting in and out) -Other than that it functions like new. I don't know what else to say except this will make one luck girl a very merry X-mas.
Car looks much newer due to fresh paint and clear coat. Had a minor deer strike last September and decide to have the whole car repainted and clear coated again (well over $4,000), good tires and brakes (always) and everything maintained by dealer and local expert (same mechanic for 10 years). No reason to sell other than taking up space in our garage that we need for rather vehicles. This car was way ahead of its time - I have newer German cars and they are NOT better, smoother or with more features. If you are looking at this car, you already know they are awesome. Buy with confidence, I have 100% feedback on all items (big & small) over the years (Motorcycles, Diesel RV's, Jet skis, etc…) - I am not a dealer, this is my wife's personal car - She just likes her Mercedes better and I want the space in my garage. Feel free to ask questions or come look at the car - If you buy it and come inspect it and decide "no", then I will certainly refund your money. This car is probably the best we have ever owned, just hard to justify with kids and space restrictions - This is a pleasure car that I would keep just to commute, but I need an auto and this is a 6-speed manual - Fun, but not good for stop-n-go traffic on I-95 everyday. |

VW CEO lost his job over buggy software that delayed new models
Mon, Jul 25 2022It says a lot about the state of the auto industry and where it's going that software problems have cost the CEO of a carmaker his job. Volkswagen ousted Herbert Diess as chief executive officer after severe software-development delays set back the scheduled launch of new Porsches, Audis and Bentleys. This was untenable considering buggy software postponed the debut of VW’s initial rollout of ID models, and customers are still having to drop off their cars at the dealer for updates the company has struggled to make over the air. Sure, Diess also didnÂ’t do enough to make allies and became increasingly isolated due to his hard-nosed leadership style. In his push to transform the company into an electric-vehicle leader, he repeatedly clashed with labor leaders by warning VW was losing out to Tesla and needed to cut thousands of jobs. But failures at the carmakerÂ’s software unit Cariad ultimately eroded DiessÂ’s support from the powerful Porsche and Piech family that calls the shots. Back in December, VW overhauled its management board, stripping Diess of some responsibilities while tasking him to turn around Cariad. While thereÂ’s been a lot of re-arranging since then, Diess didnÂ’t manage to make the issues go away. Discord at Cariad has pushed back the rollout of important new models including the electric Porsche Macan, a high-volume sport utility vehicle for the division thatÂ’s planning an initial public offering in the fourth quarter. AudiÂ’s new line of Artemis EVs has been delayed by around two years to 2027. And VWÂ’s ultra-luxury brand Bentley may not be able to go all-electric by the end of this decade as planned because of the software issues, Automobilwoche reported earlier this month. “Taking over the ship at Cariad seems to have been DiessÂ’s downfall,” said Matthias Schmidt, an independent auto analyst based in Berlin. VWÂ’s solutions to challenges tend to reflect its status as an industrial behemoth: itÂ’s able to throw lots of money and people at its problems. But modernizing the company for the digital age is going to take bringing in talent and building skillsets outside its traditional zones of expertise. Drivers increasingly demand intuitive user interfaces and services that could create new revenue streams, if done correctly. “Software is the key to the future,” TeslaÂ’s Elon Musk tweeted when one of his followers asked about VW switching CEOs. Diess certainly didnÂ’t lack ambition.
Audi debuts all-new R18 E-Tron Quattro with novel secondary hybrid system
Thu, 12 Dec 2013This is the new Audi R18. It looks like the Bond villain of race cars (it has red running lamps), and if Audi's past is any indication, it'll prove difficult to beat in the LMP1 class of the 2014 World Endurance Championship.
The car's full name is the Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro, just like last year's car. Also like last year's car, the new R18 draws its power from a V6 turbodiesel, which powers its rear wheels, and Audi's E-Tron hybrid system, which runs its front axle. Unlike last year's car, though, this R18 has a secondary hybrid system. Audi has fitted the V6 with an electric turbocharger and figured out how to capture waste heat generated when the engine reaches its boost limit. That power can then be stored and fed back into either the turbo or the front axle's hybrid system under acceleration.
There are a number of changes to the body on the new car, forced in large part by series regulation changes. The car is narrower, particularly at the front, but it's also taller. The front end is set off by a new wing, as part of a new WEC regulation. Audi seems quite pleased about this, citing an improvement in front-end downforce and a reduction in cost. Like Formula One, the WEC contenders now have to contend with a ban on the so-called blown diffuser, which forced exhaust gases over the diffuser, creating downforce. That's necessitated some changes from Audi, although as we have no rear shots of the car, we can't tell you what it looks like.
The 2013 Rolex 24-hour race at Daytona comes down to the last hour [spoilers, w/video]
Mon, 28 Jan 2013It took 24 hours to run the race, but it was the last one was stuffed with the high action as four cars were still trying to figure out how to gain victory on the track and in the pits. Along with the obligatory crashes, spins, mechanical issues and retirements had come numerous penalties, a double-digit number of full-course yellows and two hours of fog that turned early Sunday morning into a stretch of parade laps.
The final hour would make up for the morning - drivers who might have been happy just to get on the podium had a shot at victory as the end of the race approached, and that turned into a few gambles that paid off, and at least one that didn't...
