I really hate to let her go, but the time has come to move on. I have owned many cars, but this has been my most favorite thus far.  A rare combination of colors, options, and condition.  She’s a true, distinguished GT coupe.  FULLY LOADED and finished in Deep Sea Blue Pearl Effect over Tuscan Brown Silk Nappa Leather with a 6spd manual transmission, coupled to a 4.2L V8.

 Details & Options:

  • 354 BHP, 325 ft*lbs torque

  • 6 speed manual transmission

  • Audi Drive Select ($2,350) RARE!

  • Technology Package w/ Blind Spot Warning Sensors and LEDs ($2,200)

  • Navigation Package w/ Voice Control ($2,950)

  • Bang and Olufsen Premium Sound [14 speakers] ($850)

  • Stainless Steel Texture Decorative Inlays ($750)

  • Pearl Effect Paint Upgrade ($475)

History:

  • I am the 2nd Owner and purchased the car in Summer 2011 after an extensive search.  There were 22.6K miles on the odo at purchase and, as you can see, I’ve put approx. 8K mi on her in the 3 yrs of ownership.  Always garaged-kept and only driven on nice days.  Dealer-maintained regularly at Flow Audi of Charlottesville.  The 35K mi. service was completed in Oct. and has seen only 774 mi. since that time.

Condition:
  • No accident history, nor dents or door dings.  All original, no mods.  Everything works as it should, no issues.  Never abused or mistreated.  All decals on interior of doors, windows, and body panels are intact.  All original glass (windshield does have one star chip on passenger side, but was repaired by previous owner before it began to spread).  Original Dunlop tires (may have about 5-10K mi. left on them).  Front fascia does have some road debris marks here and there from previous owner (it was a No. VA car and probably saw I-95 regularly), but nothing that detracts from its beauty or is noticeable from more than a foot away (see pic).  There’s also a scratch on the passenger side of the hood just above the headlight by what appears to have been a rock skip (it was there when I purchased the vehicle).  I’ve included a pic.  The rims are near-perfect with one stone chip mark on the driver’s front rim (pic included).  The interior is essentially flawless, which is EXTREMELY hard to find with S5’s because of their pronounced side bolsters that are usually destroyed by owners whom slide their rear-ends across them and rip, wear, and fade the leather.  The floor mats were never used by me (I always buy all-weather mats to put over the originals) and show almost like new.

I am not going to be like others and claim my car is “mint” or “showroom” condition.  That's setting oneself up for negative feedback and/or no-sale.  This car is not without some (while very few) cosmetic imperfections.  If you’re looking for a perfect car, I’d suggest going to your local dealer to order a 2014.  The pictures do most of the talking and I’ve tried my best to speak to the rest.  I wish I could write a 20 page listing stating each and every nick or mark, but I cannot.  If you have any questions or reservations, please feel free to send me a message.  I have no issues with taking extra pics or responding to your inquiries.  There is a Lien on the vehicle with my Credit Union.  If you're not familiar with how Title releases operate, please ask me before bidding.  Thanks for your interest and good luck.

South Korea to file criminal charges against VW exec

Wed, Jan 20 2016

South Korea has tossed out Volkswagen's recall plans and is preparing to level criminal charges over its handling of the diesel emissions catastrophe, The Wall Street Journal reports. "Recall plans the company submitted to us earlier this month were insufficient and lacked key information, and thus are unacceptable," the South Korean Ministry of Environment said in a statement obtained by the WSJ. A ministry official hinted at the possibility of criminal charges earlier this month if VW's recall plan wasn't satisfactory, the Yonhap News Agency reports, and now it looks like it will actually follow through. According to the WSJ, South Korea has already ordered VW to recall 125,000 vehicles and slapped the automaker with a $12.3 million fine – one of the many countries to do so – but if it follows through with criminal charges against the company or its employees, it'd be among the earliest to so. Other countries, including the United States, are still exploring the possibility of criminal charges. Charges would likely come against both Audi Volkswagen Korea and its managing director, Johannes Thammer. It's not clear what the actual charge would be, but the WSJ claims Thammer could be facing up to five years in prison and a fine of 30 million won (around $24,700 at today's rates). For its part, VW officials in South Korea maintains that it is "doing its utmost to resolve the emissions issue" and that it plans to "offer further explanation" to authorities regarding its proposal for an emissions and fuel mileage fix in that country.

J.D. Power study identifies top seats for your tush

Tue, Aug 29 2017

File under News your fanny can use: The seating systems in the Ford Escape and Edge, the Audi A3, Chevrolet Cruze, Kia Cadenza, Porsche Cayenne and Toyota Tundra received top marks in a new J.D. Power study on seating and seat belt quality and satisfaction. The J.D. Power 2017 Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study asked more than 77,000 new owners and lessees of 2017 model-year cars and light trucks to rate their vehicle's seats and seat belts within the first 90 days of taking ownership. The survey is broken up into seven vehicle segments and scored on total seat problems per 100 within each segment, with awards presented to the seating system supplier. Canadian auto supplier Magna won three of seven first-place awards for its seating systems in the A3, Escape and Edge. Ireland-based Adient got top marks for its seats in the Cadenza and Cayenne. Lear Corp. won for the Cruze, and Avanzar Interior Technologies scored highest for seats in the Tundra. J.D. Power says its study is intended for automakers and suppliers with quality and satisfaction information to be used in developing and marketing seating systems. "But the results are just as interesting to a consumer audience," the company says. "After all, some drivers spend a considerable amount of time behind the wheel, and it's helpful to know which vehicles offer the most comfortable seats for those long commutes." Ain't that the truth. Ford was the only automaker whose seat systems, both manufactured by Magna, received top honors in two segments: the Escape for mass-market compact SUV and the Edge for mass-market midsize/large SUV. J.D. Power says it used 22 attributes to measure seat quality, three measures of seat belt quality and 12 to measure satisfaction. Awards were presented to the seating suppliers. The 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona: What we learned, what we saw

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Two days after the flag dropped on the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, people are still trying to figure out what it might portend for the rest of the season. In 24 hours, two minutes and 24 seconds, 695 laps were completed by the car that crossed the line first. During that time, 67 cars began the race, 18 of them retired. There was that accident, and a red flag. There were supposedly slower classes beating supposedly faster classes. There were 16 caution periods, including that yellow flag. And then there was The Decision. And Then The Uproar. And then The Reversal.
There was also some pretty good racing, so let's have one last look at the weekend. Oh, and there was that 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO Series II...
If you want to skip the reading bits and go to the photos, there's a high-res gallery of 158 images above and a couple more below. Enjoy.
