2008 Audi S4 on 2040-cars
Richardsville, Virginia, United States
Selling my very rare (1 of 72 Avants with a manual transmission for the year, according to Audi) 2008 S4 Avant 6MT. The car currently sits at 122,000 miles and overall is a very clean example, which is getting harder and harder to find. This combined with the Dolphin Grey exterior and black interior makes it in my opinion the white whale of the B7 S4 Avants. I would rate the interior a 9/10, it has a little bit of seat wear typical of any car with 122,000 miles, but nothing excessive and no tearing. The exterior is also an easy 9/10, in spite of the small imperfections, as the overall condition of the paint is excellent. I just had the interior professionally detailed and conditioned the leather to preserve the wonderful leather Recaros. There is a small crack in the carbon trim above the glove box—I will update with a photo soon. This car has always been adult owned and driven: I am the third owner. I purchased it in 2013 from Audi of Warwick in Rhode Island as a certified pre-owned vehicle. I have full service records from the first owner, a doctor who had all his work done at the same dealership. After that an enthusiast who owned a small performance shop in Rhode Island owned the car. He added the exhaust and coil overs. I have had all service done at TyrolSport in New York City and have all records. The car comes equipped with: - Audi Navigation System - 18inch Double Spoke Rims - Bose Premium Sound with Auto pilot - Homelink - Auto Dimming Interior Mirror WIth Compass - Auto Dimming Exterior Mirrors - Memory for Driver Side Seat Adjustment - Memory For Outside Mirrors - Rain and Light Sensor - Adaptive Front Lighting - All books, and as earlier described partial records. Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Watch the Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro long-tail testing at Monza
Thu, 02 May 2013Audi released a single photo of the long-tailed version of its R18 E-Tron Quattro Le Mans racer, but the photo didn't offer the best view of the stretched rear. The car has been caught testing at Monza, in Italy, and not only do we get a better view of what it's got out back, we get pretty awesome sound as it makes high-speed runs past the camera.
Since the 2013-spec car was found to be down on performance versus the 2012, the long-tail is a different evolution to see if Audi can eke out more performance from its already dominant chassis. Have a look and a listen in the video below.
Audi A8 facelift on the way
Thu, 23 May 2013The coming Audi A8 has already been spotted in camouflage on public roads at earthly elevations, and now our snappers have caught it at elevation in the Alps. The evolution will entail modified head- and taillights, different sculpting for the grille and a new bumper profile said to be more in line with the A6 S Line.
Inside, there might also be adjustments made to input controls like the gesture touchpad and the MMI infotainment system that include behind-the-scenes improvements like new Nvidia Tegra chips, but such revisions are expected to be minor. With the S8 and the TDI just having been launched, don't be surprised if engine outputs also remain the same. The prevailing sneaking suspicion is that we'll see the car unveiled at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show.
Production 4.0: Audi plans for the smart factory
Tue, Jul 21 2015Automotive production is becoming more integrated and at the same time has to be more intelligent and more efficient. Flexible production of customized vehicles is one of the big challenges for the future, especially for a premium carmaker like Audi. How will the "Vorsprung durch Technik" brand meet its aim of offering premium quality with added custom flexibility? The company sees the "smart factory" as the key. Whether it's body-color moldings or light-alloy wheels in a special size, almost every car is ordered with some kind of customization, and the demands are increasing. This requires of course already a lot of flexibility. While the variety of models and quality demands are increasing, automotive manufacturers such as Audi are eager to make production sustainable. In an Audi interview, innovation management members Alois Brandt and Henning Loser talk about "production 4.0" and the upcoming "smart factory." How will Audi manage the production site with its very high standards of quality, efficiency, and environmental acceptability? Will the so-called "smart factory," which should be the intelligent factory of the future, only employ robots? Alois Brandt: "With a deep look into the production, I am convinced that our employees and not machines are the relevant working forces behind the Audi brand. Machines can be bought anywhere." Increasing digitalization is paving the way for the smart factory – the intelligent, digitally connected production facility. New high-tech solutions in manufacturing should further increase the high level of quality, while at the same time the assembly work should be easier and result in better ergonomics. Can you give us a clearer imagination of the "smart factory"? Alois Brandt: "There are a lot of ideas. But the big question at the moment is: Which one is really needed and leads into the right direction?" Can you tell us a little bit more about "production 4.0"? Alois Brandt: "The assembly line as we know it in the present will no longer play the same role. If it makes sense, it will be terminated and replaced by – let's call it – a virtual assembly line. The production will be more modular than before and the car will be directed to a production point – a so-called 'island of competence' – where it is needed." Henning Loser: "If the vehicle is to be assembled to the customer's wishes, it is obvious that efficient programming of robots and coordinating with the human workers is needed.
