Hood Aero Catch Hood Pins Performance Yes, there are faster cars out
there but this car really is shockingly good. On the current 22psi tune
It posted up dyno numbers of 404.51 AWHP, 457.11 Torque. It was on stock
intercoolers and did not have water/methanol injection at the time, but did have
3” AR Design downpipes. On the track we placed first in almost every TTS
race we were in and this is a very fast class. We even set two track
records at the time, and one was on a weaker 18psi tune (379/429) and a weaker
brake setup. We had issues with keeping the engine cool on track with the
22psi tune, but not the 18psi tune. No problems on the street. It
weighed 3403 with stock front seats, larger custom radiator, a huge oil cooler,
and stock hood, but no spare or back seats. I suspect that the seats and
hood dropped at least another 100lbs from the car, stock seats are heavy.
What Does it Need? The issues are mostly
cosmetic with the car. There are little nicks and chips on the car,
especially the door edges. The front bumper is in especially bad shape
from rocks and going on/off a lot. It was connected using quick release
dzeus fasteners and one is broken so now a bolt is holding it on which is the
standard way of attaching it. I never screwed down the door sills and the
front doors have rubbed the paint off. I was trying to come up with an
elegant way of attaching them and so they need paint. The CF hood has a
crack in the middle, about the size of a baseball. I was planning to
repair it and paint it but haven't. The informational screen is burned
out on the dash (common) as well. I noticed a slight vibration when the
wheels on the back where on the front, and those might need to be straightened.
One of the front wheels has curb rash. The driver’s side 02 sensor
at one time came loose and melted from touching the turbo. It is
currently hard wired and has been for a long time with no issues. It will
come with the original seats but the driver’s side has a small tear
in the bolster. Mechanically everything is up to date and runs great.
On the Widebody The most distinctive thing
about this car is obviously the RS4 widebody. I used factory front
fenders, bumper, sills, rear door, and grafted in the RS4 rear 1/4 panels.
The work was done 4 years ago and has held up great to thousands of
miles. No evidence of the seam line at all. The backside of the
rear 1/4 panels was sprayed with a sealing wax to fight rust and corrosion.
The rear bumper is a stock bumper that was modified to achieve the look I
was after. Smooth sides that are flush with the body work and flowing
tail light covers that are integrated. The lower valance is also bonded
together to give everything a much smoother look. The paint color is from
a BMW motorcycle and is called "Mandarin Yellow". I'm often
asked if the color is yellow or orange to which I answer, "Yes."
Depending on the lighting it can swing either way and is very eye
catching. The original color was Imola Yellow and that color can still be
seen in the engine bay and a small area of the trunk. The car currently
sits on 265/35-18 all-season tires but raced on 275/35-18 Nitto NT-01 tires.
This required a 5mm spacer in the rear. I've run as large as
295/30-18's on the car, but it would rub under full compression and was
probably too large. The front bumper has been mostly shelled out for
weight and does not have working headlight sprayers. I believe I have all
of the parts if someone wanted to install them, but I didn't intend to drive it
in the snow or mud any more. While on the subject of bodywork, the rear
bumper is off an early A4 for that European look. Also I want to point
out that it has no sunroof but a carbon fiber plug to fill the hole. This
was done to save weight and the original headliner was recovered to block the
hole on the inside. It would be nice to get a non-sunroof headliner if a
person was so inclined. Some of the pictures show the old TDR 1.2 wheels
in 18x9+15 that are black. I know that is confusing but I wanted to
include those pictures for reference. Photos and Video Here
is a gallery of the car from over the years.
I tried to put
together a detailed photo gallery, focusing on the worst areas to minimize
surprises for any potential buyer. When
you focus on the bad it tends to make you think the car looks really ratty, but
that is not the case in person. If there is additional pictures you
would like to see please let me know and I'll take them for you and put them in
this directory. Maintenance

Mechanically the car needs
nothing that I know of, runs and drives fantastic. I just took the car
and passed Colorado emissions and will include that certificate with sale.
Also of note, the secondary 02 sensors have been coded out so it won't
throw a CEL if you run without cats on the track. Also the EGT sensors
are coded out but they did work fine at the time we tuned it. There is a
airbag warning light due to the race seats but I have sourced the correct resistors
to stick into the plug to make this go away and will include them in the sale. Final Thoughts The car is fantastic to own and
while it needs many small things it does perform and look great. Some people had expressed concern that the
car was abused on the track, but it only saw 5 events the one year and we only
ran the car for about 10 minutes to put down a fast time and then parked it.
The price of bodywork and installation alone is worth the asking price.
People are always looking at the car, driving though the parking lot to
check it out, taking pictures of it. I loaned it to a friend and in the
two days he drove it he found two different notes left on it. When you
hammer it getting onto the highway you giggle every time. It’s a wildly
entertaining ride.

Audi tests new kind of car sharing, lets you buy cars with buddies [w/video]
Thu, Dec 11 2014Car sharing services like ZipCar, Car2Go and others offer people in cities the chance to have a vehicle without dealing with the hassles of parking or maintenance, while also eliminating traffic. However, many individuals are turned off by the idea of splitting a car with an entire metropolis or would prefer to have a specific model at their disposal. For these unsatisfied souls, Audi has a new arrangement in Stockholm, Sweden, called Audi Unite that might be just the ticket. The setup is basically a small-scale car sharing service. Up to five people agree to share any of Audi's models for a year or two – even an R8 if they are so inclined. Each user has a special Bluetooth key fob that identifies them to the vehicle, and a smartphone app allows operators to schedule time with the car. Each person is then billed monthly according to his or her use. Audi thinks it might work best with friends, colleagues or neighbors, but the company can also play matchmaker for clients, if necessary. "In the beginning, our biggest fear was what if two people want to go somewhere at the same time-what happens then?" said Clemens Weisshaar, one of the founders of design firm Kram/Weisshaar that helped develop the idea, to Fast Company. "Interestingly, it never happened." They chose Stockholm because the city was tech-savvy, and there is a tradition of sharing there. Prices for Audi Unite seem fairly reasonable for each user. According to the service's website, if four people use an A3 Sportback for two years with a 20,000-kilometer (12,247-mile) driving limit, they would pay an average of 2,091 Swedish krona ($277) each per month. For an extra 365 krona (about $50) per person each month, they can add a package that includes vehicle pickup and delivery for monthly interior and exterior cleaning, winter tire exchanges and necessary servicing. After Stockholm, Audi plans to try Unite in other Swedish cities before launching the program in additional countries, according to Fast Company. Scroll down to watch a video with more explanation about how the program works and read the automaker's press release about the initiative.
Audi R8 bids adieu with the 570-hp Competition in LA
Wed, 19 Nov 2014Audi is saying auf Wiedersehen to the first-gen R8 at the Los Angeles Auto Show in the best way possible - the even more powerful, limited edition 2015 R8 Competition. This might be the vehicle's swansong, but it's going out with a bang.
Audi is sending just 60 of these supercars to the US, and the heart and soul is a beefed up version of the 5.2-liter V10 from the V10 Plus model. The mill now makes 570 horsepower, a 20-hp boost, and is mated to a seven-speed, dual-clutch S Tronic gearbox. Audi claims that the potent package shoots the Competition to 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds and to a max speed of 199 mph.
The extra ponies might be enough for some, but Audi really wants to make the Competition something special. Matte carbon fiber pieces replace areas around the car, including the rear spoiler, side slides, front spoiler, rear diffuser and center console. For contrast, the wheels and exhaust pipes are painted in high-gloss black. Ceramic brake discs should be a useful aid with deceleration, too.
Hot Wheels' 2022 Green Speed cars bring EVs to small scale
Sun, Apr 24 2022With more and more EVs hitting the market, it was only a matter of time before the new breed of cars would find representation in diecast form. For 2022, Hot Wheels is coming out with a new Green Speed series that puts the spotlight on a diverse lineup of electric cars. The five-car series features a fun mix of EVs from different manufacturers and in a wide range of styles. Some are completely bone stock. For a traditional luxury sedan, there's a Lucid Air in silver, complete with glass (or in this case, clear plastic) canopy. For fans of Teutonic 4-door "coupes" there's the Audi RS e-Tron GT in Daytona Gray. Ticking the truck box is a Hummer EV in a yellow that can only be described as a throwback to the H3. But because this is Hot Wheels, there are "hot-rodded" variants in the lineup as well. Rather than just a regular Nissan Leaf, they've elected to cast the carbon fiber-bodied NISMO RC 2.0 race car. Likewise with Ford, instead of the standard Mustang Mach-E, they've gone with the Mustang Mach-E 1400 drift car. This isn't the first time Hot Wheels has put out a Green Speed series. The line debuted in 2016 but reflected the limited EV choices in the real car market at the time. The only non-fantasy cars in the series were a first-gen Tesla Roadster, a Tesla Model S, and Chevy Volt. Hot Wheels revisited the line again in 2019, this time adding a Tesla Model 3 and a Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo. Hot Wheels also makes other mini EVs that don't fall into this specific line of models. If you want to collect 'em all, there's the second-generation Tesla Roadster concept, Cybertruck, Jaguar I-Pace, Pininfarina Battista, Porsche Taycan, and a Volkswagen ID R. Similarly, Matchbox has released a version of the Tesla Roadster with sustainable packaging to boot. If you must have an old school gasoline burner, Hot Wheels has plenty of options for you too, like, say, this snazzy FJ60 Toyota Land Cruiser. The 2022 Hot Wheels Green Speed series should be on shelves at your local retailers now. Related Video:
