Up for sale is one of the last remaining clean, unmolested Audi S4's. I recently purchased this vehicle for myself however with a business and a new baby, I no longer have time to enjoy it. I had every intention of keeping it but cannot at this point in my life. I would like to find a nice home for it, someone that is a B5 s4 enthusiast and can really appreciate the car. This is a 2 owner, Florida car that has never been abused.

Exterior:

All original IMOLA shiny paint (also tested with paint meter). This color was 1 of the 3 colors exclusive to the S4. Has no major scratches and one very small dent in the passenger rear panel (barely visible) that can be easily removed by PDR (paintless dent repair). If winning bidder wants this done I can have it removed for an additional $50. Car does have a clear bra on numerous panels/parts however it has degraded over time. This would need to be removed and replaced if desired.

Interior:

All original, no rips or tears in the seats. Bolsters are in good condition for the year, still provide plenty of support and comfort. Headliner is intact and does not sag, no stains or bad odors. Carpet does have a small slit in the rear done during the sound system install (wires ran underneath carpet). Gauge cluster has some pixels missing however repair is inexpensive and ebay has numerous vendors that will perform the repair.

Mechanical:

Engine runs perfect with no problems. Car does not have any boost surges, throttle cuts or whatever else people experience in stage 3 cars. This would be my 6th S4 and I'll have to admit, my favorite. The ASP tune is silky smooth and a joy to drive. The stage 3 setup has less than 4k miles so everything is pretty much new. During the install no expense was spared so it received many misc parts like hoses, new pcv system, master cylinder, mounts, drive shafts, timing belt kit, rebuilt ABS module, etc. Stock suspension is tired but functional (reason new one was purchased) Brake pads will be replaced prior to sale.

Modifications:

  • Stasis 4:1 Ctr diff
  • PJ K04 turbos
  • Ceramic coated stock exhaust manifolds
  • Piggy pipes, wrapped
  • Autospeed STG III fueling
  • RS4 Pressure plate and Vast feramic disc
  • AWE Intercoolers
  • Samco Hoses
  • Milltek exhaust
  • B&M short shifter
  • AVIC Z-3 touchscreen Nav, Infinity Kappa speakers in front doors, 12" Xtant sub in trunk
  • Valeo E-code headlights, stock bulb/ballasts
  • Full LED conversion
Not installed (included in auction) :

  • New in box Vogtland GT3 suspension
  • New in box Vast methanol injection kit
  • New in box control arms and hardware
  • New in box Front/Rear ceramic brake pads

How Audi keeps it fresh in the design department

Tue, Apr 11 2017

Audi was, even very recently, seen as a near-luxury brand, on par with niche if specific European automakers like Saab and Volvo. But early in the 21 st century, the four-ringed circus from Ingolstadt found a way to elevate itself to the level of its aspirational German rivals at Mercedes and BMW. While these brands were immersed in what we like to refer to as their Baroquecoco Period – a moment in which the exteriors of their cars gained bulges and, ahem, bangles, and their interiors failed to keep pace with the march of technology – Audi kept it simple. Its designs avoided the imperious Faberge gilding of Benz, or the Ghery-esque swoop and swoon of Bimmer. Instead, they were clean inside and out, with simple and elegant lines, comprehensible ergonomics, and subtle new signatures that were recognizable without being in any way overwrought. Customers, alienated by their rivals, flocked. Sales rocketed. And Audi became known as a formal/functional design leader – the Mid-Century Modern Architecture of the luxury vehicle world. But now BMW and Mercedes have taken note and corrected course. Both brands have discarded their dalliance with carbuncularity and are now, debatably, near the top of their game design-wise. Benz is delivering handsome stolidity not seen since the Bruno Sacco era of the Seventies and Eighties, and BMW has regained a grip on the kind of elegant sportiness characterized by Paul Bracq during the same time period. And the interiors of both brands are consistently on a level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, delight, and material selection and innovation once reserved for Bentley and Rolls. View 17 Photos This puts Audi in something of a design double-bind. First, its transaction price has escalated to the point where it lives in the same set as BMW and Mercedes. But now that those brands have caught up with (or perhaps even surpassed) the crisp Auto Union sensibility, how does it differentiate itself? "You have to have a clear design theme," says Frank Lamberty, Audi's exterior design director. "We define this as Quattro, because this is unique for Audi, this is our tradition. And Quattro means we have all the wheels powered, so we want to show that in our design. And this is different from a rear-wheel-drive car. We are coming from a front-wheel-drive platform, so everything is more balanced. Everything is in the middle, rather than leaned back. That is a clear proportion thing.

Audi Prologue Avant Concept points to the future of wagon design in Geneva [w/video]

Wed, Mar 4 2015

The new generation Audi R8 and its LMS GT3 racing version are grabbing much of the attention at the Audi stand at the Geneva Motor Show. However, if you are more interested in seeing the brand's future design direction, just take a look at the Prologue Avant Concept that's also on display. Audi traditionally uses the Avant name for the company's wagons, but that's tweaked slightly here. The vehicle is certainly a five-door, but from some angles it looks more akin to a Porsche Panamera-like hatchback. Compared to the B-pillarless Prologue Coupe (that we recently drove), the stretched roof flows all the way to the angled rear hatch, and the result is a very elegant design. The interior tends towards minimalism with just a few screens showing the driving info. The Prologue Avant also ditches the Coupe's petrol-fueled hybrid for a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo diesel V6 plug-in hybrid with a total of 455 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, which is linked to an eight-speed gearbox. Audi claims the setup reaches 62 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds and allows for 33 miles of pure electric driving. To get a sneak peek at what's next from Audi, take a look at the Prologue Avant Concept on the floor of the Geneva show in the gallery above.

Stanford goes from Pikes Peak to Thunderhill with autonomous Audi TTS

Mon, Feb 16 2015

In the years since Stanford University engineers successfully programmed an Audi TTS to autonomously ascend Pikes Peak, the technology behind driverless cars has progressed leaps and bounds. Back then the Audi needed 27 minutes to make it up the 12.42-mile course – about 10 minutes slower than a human driver. These days, further improvements allow the vehicle to lap a track faster than a human. The researchers recently took their autonomous TTS named Shelley to the undulating Thunderhill Raceway Park, and let it go on track without anyone inside. The Audi reportedly hit over 120 miles per hour, and according to The Telegraph, the circuit's CEO, who's also an amateur racing driver, took some laps as well and was 0.4 seconds slower than the computer. To make these massive technological advancements, the Stanford engineers have been studying how racers handle a car. They also hooked up drivers' brains to electrodes and found the mind wasn't doing as much cognitively as expected. It instead operated largely on muscle memory. "So by looking at race car drivers we are actually looking at the same mathematical problem that we use for safety on the highways. We've got the point of being fairly comparable to an expert driver in terms of our ability to drive around the track," Professor Chris Gerdes, director of Stanford's Revs Program, said to The Telegraph. With progress coming so rapidly, it seems possible for autonomous racecars to best even elite drivers at some point in the near future. Related Video:
