Amazon Prime now delivering right to your Audi

Amazon has come up with many ways to deliver packages to its premium Prime customers, ranging from very large boxes to drones. Now, the company is looking at delivering directly to your car. Being introduced on a very limited trial basis in Germany, Amazon is offering Audi-owning Prime customers the option to have packages delivered to their vehicle. That's a boon if you're waiting on a pricey parcel, but can't stay at home to sign for it. The first phase of the program will begin next month in the Munich area. The pilot program requires customers to give an approximate location of their vehicle during the delivery period. DHL delivery drivers – the only shipping service partnering with Amazon for Audi deliveries – will be granted one-time access to trunks, with an access code tied into the delivery. "We are working to offer Prime members a delivery location that is always available and convenient: the trunk of their car," Michael Pasch, director of Amazon Prime for the European Union, said in a Google Translated statement. "This innovation makes shopping at Amazon even easier and more flexible. It gives customers another way to receive their orders." Related Video:

Audi to show hydrogen Q6 in Detroit

Audi is allegedly bringing a hydrogen-powered concept to the Motor City next month. The report comes from Autocar, which cites German media in claiming the new concept, tipped to be called the Q6 H-Tron, will ride on the same MLB architecture as the E-Tron Quattro Concept, shown at Frankfurt earlier this year. In fact, it sounds like the Detroit concept will look more or less like the Frankfurt concept, just with low-mounted hydrogen fuel cells instead of battery packs. That said, Audi didn't come right out and tell Autocar that the Q6 H-Tron was coming to Detroit. Instead, a company spokesman told the website that "a concept car with new drive technology" will be shown at next month's show. But this seems like a safe bet. As Audi continues to cope with the fallout of its diesel emissions scandal, shifting focus to an even more alternative fuel source would be a sound strategy, even if it is just a PR move. Car Club USA heads to Los Angeles for the CleanMPG Northwest Rally, where a group of like-minded hypermiling enthusiasts led by Wayne Gerdes attempts to drive from Los Angeles, CA, to Bend, OR, on one tank of fuel. For this challenge, Wayne tapped some of the most accomplished hypermilers in the world, including Guinness World Record holder Bob Winger and Mike Sefton, "the most fuel efficient driver in all of Canada." It doesn't take long for the competition to get heated. "Driving in Los Angeles is a hyper miler's nightmare," says Winger. The trip will challenge both car and driver, while putting the latest fuel-efficient tech to the test. Wayne is piloting the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen TDI, Sefton drives the Audi A3 TDI, and Winger attempts the trek in a Honda Accord Hybrid.
