2000 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro 5-speed Manual Low Miles Only 95k - Few Mods! on 2040-cars
Sacramento, California, United States

Up for sale is my 2000 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro sedan 5-speed manual transmission. SALVAGE TITLE due to a small front end collision about 4 years ago when I bought it from a salvage auction.
ONLY 95k miles!!! Runs and drives great. Very clean all around (always used weather floor mats). Body is in great shape, might have a couple small scratches. Full timing belt service (sourced from ECS Tuning) was done at 61k miles as soon as I bought the vehicle (includes timing belt, water pump, accessory belt, and all the tensioners and idler pulleys. Complete engine rebuild was done at around 85k miles (had a little smoke coming from exhaust, turned out to be a valve seal), so it's pretty much a brand new engine. Rebuild (sourced from ECS Tuning) included all new gaskets and seals, valve seals, headgasket, new head bolts, new piston rings, new spark plugs, both heads cleaned and resurfaced, cylinders honed, new oil pan. Also changed the fuel filter at the same time, and replaced the oem air filter with a K&N drop-in performance filter. Always changed oil on time using only fully synthetic Mobil1. Complete brake service done at around 72k miles, plus the big brake upgrade. Includes Porsche front calipers with adapters, Audi A8 front rotors drilled, stock oem rear rotors, RedStuff performance pads all around, stainless steel brake lines, all calipers were painted red. Front calipers, however, make slight screeching noise while pressing on the brake - been doing that ever since, don't know what could be the problem, but doesn't affect braking at all. Inside are the black S4 recaro sport heated power seats in great shape aside from a very small cut on drivers seat. White LED lights replace all the interior lamps. Factory sport steering wheel. Weather floor mats. Aftermarket exhaust system is completely custom with a Neuspeed rear muffler portion, and sounds as good as it looks, is not too loud, but at the same time a very nice deep tune. Suspension setup is a Vmaxx adjustable coilovers with damper control, can still go lower. They do feel a little spongy so the quality is not the best. Wheels are BBS LM replicas 18" with a 1.5" lip (one wheel has a slight curb rash). Tires are brand new Nankang. Spacers are 15mm front and 17.5mm rear (if I remember correctly) and come complete with extended lug bolts. All wheels secured with a euro lock kit. Full size oem spare wheel with tire in the trunk. Additional mods include a black painted roof, smoked side markers, oem-looking headlights but with black housings, 6000k HID kit for high beams, a nicely fitted Cupra R front bumper lip spoiler, a rear trunk lip, a 034Motorsport snub mount. Under the hood is an Optima red-top performance battery and a B6 A4 grey coolant tank and a black power steering reservoir. Comes with a Bose sound system, a 6-disk CD changer in the trunk, and an oem emergency tire air pump in the trunk. I've driven this car for over 3 years now and it's been a pleasure driving it, but I am now moving on to my next B5 A4 project car, so gotta let this one go. Feel free to contact me with any questions. If you want to speak with me over the phone, just leave me a message so either I can call you or give you a number to reach me at. This listing may be removed at any time before auction ends, since I am using other sources to list this vehicle as well. Vehicle is located in Sacramento, CA. BMW says SUVs killed the sports car market
Thu, 13 Nov 2014In many ways, we're living in a golden age of automotive performance. After all, it's possible to show up at a Dodge dealer, hand over about $60,000 and storm away with a 707-horsepower Challenger Hellcat. Or for those who prefer a touch more luxury, the BMW M4, Mercedes-AMG C63 and latest Cadillac ATS-V offer between 425 and 503 horsepower, depending on your pick, with a bit more poshness. However, none of these powerful vehicles fit the classic definition of a two-place, droptop sports car, and according BMW head of sales Ian Robertson, that's because the segment is very much in the doldrums.
According to Robertson, two factors seriously wounded the classic sports car market. First, the global economic crisis of a few years ago put a serious hurt on sales, according to Bloomberg. Further worsening the situation, the boom in popularity of luxury SUVs and crossovers in the past few years hasn't allowed for much recovery. Even car-hungry China hasn't helped much because of the smog in many cities and preference among some of the very rich there to be chauffeured.
Combined, Audi TT, BMW Z4 and Mercedes-Benz SLK sales peaked around 114,000 units a year in 2007, but they are only expected to reach 72,000 annually by the end of the decade. Robertson is pretty pessimistic about the market's comeback too. "Post-2008, it just collapsed. I'm not so sure it'll ever fully recover," he said to Bloomberg.
Audi drives Laurel Canyon in reverse
Tue, Jul 14 2015With all its many twists and turns and narrow lanes, driving down Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Los Angeles demands your attention under the best of conditions. The driver caught on this video, however, is clearly not giving it his best. The driver behind the wheel of this new Audi – an S5 or maybe even an RS5 coupe, if our eyes and the low resolution don't deceive us – opted to drive down the canyon road entirely in reverse, with a woman in the passenger seat. The incident was caught on video by one Kevin Zanazanian, another motorist following behind. (Or would that now be considered in front? We're all turned around here). Fortunately the driver appears to have taken things at a rather leisurely pace. Which is a good thing, or at least a mitigating factor. While cars are designed to be able to back up, unless you're a stunt driver on a closed set, they're not meant to do so at speed. But then they're not meant to be driven backwards for extended lengths of time or distance, either. That's why local authorities are reportedly trying to track down the driver, who could have been held accountable for any number of infractions had he been caught in the act - including driving right through a red light, backwards, from the turning lane, across Hollywood Boulevard. With the video footage now in hand, the LAPD's West Traffic Bureau is reportedly working to determine who it belongs to, and who can be held liable for this stunt. With no injuries or damage reported, KTLA reports that the charges (however many of them) would not amount to more than misdemeanors. Audi to spend $17 billion to fight BMW
Sat, 29 Dec 2012It's no secret that VW Group, parent company to not only Volkswagen but also Audi, Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche and Ducati brands sold in the US, is determined to become the world's largest automaker. Even more impressive is that VW is prepared to spend billions to make it happen.
With that comes word that VW Group will be spending $17 billion on its Audi brand over the next three years to push itself above rival BMW. The money will be invested in both vehicle development (including lightweight auto design and alternative powertrains) and facilities (including expansion in Hungary, China and new operations in Mexico). The luxury brand is focused on global manufacturing infrastructure.
Already Europe's best-selling luxury brand, Audi's objective is to overtake BMW by the end of the decade by selling more than two million cars per year (BMW is shooting for 1.54 million sales in 2013). If those objectives are met, VW Group should be on track to be the industry's volume leader by 2018.
