For more details, please do not hesitate to call me at 419-701-4730. This vehicle was purchased by me in November of 2013. The vehicle was involved in a flood, and water came up to under the seats; damaging a lot of the electrical components, locking the seat in place, etc. The vehicle, when shipped to me from Florida, was completely drivable, albeit for the driver's seat locked in the "all the way back" position. I purchased and replaced the driver's seat, and have been driving the car since. The car really is fantastic. I ended up purchasing a new set of wheels/tires for the winter, which will also be included. The wheels are from TireRack. I cannot link them directly, but they are: 18x8 Black Painted MSW Type 19 and the tires themselves are Blizzak WS70s. The wheels/tires are obviously very new, and cost ~1200$ last December. The following items are still in need of replacement/repair/troubleshooting. The parts themselves are typically not expensive (the most expensive being the passenger seat, at ~500 online) 1) Passenger seat. The seat is about 1/2 way back currently, allowing for passengers to sit comfortably, assuming they're not too tall. My wife sits in it fine, and she's 5'6". The seat will need removed, wiring under the seat cleaned up, and new seat installed. 2) Electrical system troubleshooting: Currently, only the driver's side window works. Further electrical troubleshooting would be needed to get the other windows functional. 3) MMI is currently non functional. The amp in the trunk was damaged in the flood, and replaced. However, the MMI controls themselves are all dark; my assumption is they got wet in the flood. The screen is high up enough to have been spared in the flood, but the MMI controls/associated electrical components may have been hit. 4) Passenger side seat belt. The seat belt itself is fine, but the retraction mechanism got wet, and now it no longer wants to retract. I have purchased a replacement seat belt unit, and will be including it in the car. 5) There is a CEL related to misfire on Cylinder 5; in researching it, there looks to be an Audi-ECU flash that fixes the problem in 2012 model year vehicles. However, due to no warranty, I cannot get the flash, at least for free. My original, long term plan was to purchase GoAPR's ECU tune for the car, but for right now the CEL is active. 6) Parking Brake Light: This is related to the "Parking Brake ECU" that is located under the passenger's seat, and/or the parking brake switch/button on the center console. 7) TPMS alert: This is related to the fact I swapped out wheels/tires during the winter, and was unable to reset the TPMS via the non-functional MMI. TPMS in these cars is sensor-less, so there are no sensors in the rims themselves, they just need to be reset in the MMI. 8) Airbag light: This is related to the airbag sensors in the passenger seat. One thing I will stress is the unknown; these are what I know is wrong with the vehicle. Being a flood/salvage/rebuilt title car, I hold no responsibility to what else might be damaged, or needing repair. I've been daily-driving the car for the last several months, and I see no issues outside of what's been noted, but the "Buyer Beware" should be obvious. I will be happy to share any and all information I have; just give me a call and I can go over what's-what with the car. As for financing the vehicle, from my experience anyway, I had no issue getting a used car loan for it. That said, I am paying off the lien with this sale, and will obviously process and ship out the title ASAP. Please do your due diligence if you plan to finance it; for me, I simply did one of the "check ready" car loans from PNC, and they never even asked/cared about the Rebuilt Title. Geico, likewise, made no note of it. The vehicle is priced well under the KBB value, so loans should be fairly flexible, if you decide to go that route. The original seller's remarks on the car are here. Obviously the mileage has changed. The vehicle was sold from a dealer who purchased it in auction, so he was not the original owner of the vehicle. Audi says 13% of A3 sales are E-Tron plug-in hybrids
Tue, Aug 30 2016Audi's most recent metric for plug-in sales of its A3 Sportback line brings up the classic "glass half full" or "glass half empty" conundrum. The German automaker says that almost 13 percent of its A3 sales during the past year have been of the E-Tron plug-in hybrid variety. That's a decent rate, and a notable one because Audi said late last year that it was hoping that as much as a quarter of its global sales will be plug-in vehicles by 2025. The 2017 model-year Audi A3 Sportback E-Tron has the same specs as the 2016 version, featuring a 1.4-liter engine paired with an electric motor that together deliver 204 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 2016 version was rated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as having an 86 miles per gallon-equivalent rating, and was estimated to be able to go as far as 16 miles on electricity alone. Audi notes that the EPA hasn't yet rated the 2017 version, but we expect it to be the same. The plug-in hybrid can zip from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 7.6 seconds. As for that 13-percent figure, Audi didn't specify if that meant US or global sales. The company moved 19,622 A3s in the US through July. At 13 percent, Audi would've sold about 2,500 A3 plug-in hybrids. To put that in perspective, the Ford Fusion and C-Max Energi PHEVs have moved 8,576 and 8,155 units this year, respectively. Audi of America president Scott Keogh said on the eve of last year's Los Angeles Auto Show in November that he wanted 25 percent of Audi sales to be plug-ins by 2025. The following month, Audi said it was hitting that 25-percent threshold in Norway and the Netherlands, where citizens tend to be a bit more plug-in-centric than Americans. But it's a good start. Woman wins Audi R8 Spyder on The Price Is Right, goes bananas
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Of course, we love to tune into The Price Is Right to see average Americans spin the big wheel, play a round of Plinko or Cliff Hangers, and participate in the gladiatorial Showcase Showdown. But there is one reason, and one reason alone that the daytime game show has captivated us since its inception in 1972... 'A new car!!!'
Back in November, the show held a Dream Car Week that saw contestants get the chance to win whips like a Porsche 911 and a BMW 6 Series, amongst others. It must have been pretty successful, as the PIR team is back at it, this time giving away an Audi R8 Spyder with a sticker price of $157,300. That makes it the single most-expensive item given away in the show's history.
The R8's new owner, Sheree Heil, may not fit the image of a typical R8 driver - we anticipate she'll learn which side of the car to drive on after the show is over - but she is clearly tickled pink with her big win. Check out the insanity below.
2017 Audi A4 Deep Dive
Thu, Jul 16 2015Unchanged. Plain. Boring. These words have been used to describe the new 2017 Audi A4, but they all miss the point entirely. Yes, the design of the new A4 is evolutionary, rather than a ground-up restyling. But as they say in ancient High German, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Of course, if you're at all interested in the 2017 Audi A4, you've probably read all about it in the official press release a few days ago. So we'll cut to the chase and tell you the bits you don't already know: the American-market details. We spent a day at Audi headquarters in Ingolstadt last week finding out the latest and poking around the A4 in the metal. The new A4 is wider, longer, and roomier than before. The lines are crisper and sharper, but yes, the proportions have remained very similar. That was done on purpose, thoughtfully. Not out of laziness. Stand any two sequential generations of Porsche 911 next to each other and you'll find they are rather similar. And yes, people do complain about that. But they also complain about the property tax rate on their third home in Monaco. That familiar-looking body gets a shockingly low coefficient of drag of just 0.23. The improvements in drag come from fine-tuning details down to the placement of the side mirror (now on the door, rather than the triangular window panel) and the contouring of the inner edge of the side mirror, which gets little vortex generating bumps to improve the turbulent airflow in that area, reducing drag. Attention to detail and refinement of a successful design – not boring, lazy repetition. Another notable departure in the styling of the new A4 is equally subtle, but even more significant from a precision manufacturing perspective: the hood has no cut lines on its upper surface. Instead, the hood now wraps around the tops of the fenders, the cut line integrating with the sharp crease that runs down the entire body side. The creation of this cut line requires extremely tight manufacturing tolerances to enable the precise alignment of the hood and fender gap with the stamped-in crease in the door panel; misalignment would be obvious and catastrophic to the clean, simple design's flow. Now, let's rip off this Band-Aid: no, we won't be getting the Avant. Why? Because no one buys it, vociferous vocalizations on the Internet aside.
