A new house purchase is forcing me to sell the car I've always wanted, this B7 S4 Avant. The following description details the car's condition, which is extremely clean and well taken care of by it's 3 owners. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions on what I may have missed.

Exterior:
The paint shines beautifully, and appears to be all original. Road abrasion on front bumper and hood is minimal, especially considering the 119,000 on the odometer. There are no dents, dings, scratches or chips of significance, with one exception as described: There is one area on the rear bumper 1.25"x2" where the paint is chipped off that needs attention. I planned to have this resprayed, but decided to show this blemish during the sale so as not to hide it.

All the glass is in excellent condition and free of chips or scratches. There is a light tinting applied to the windows, done professionally, and in good taste.
All trim work is in place and void of any dings or scratches and shines brightly.
The lighting lenses are clear and free of cracks, front and rear. The fog lights are amber, which I believe is an aftermarket addition.
The factory roof rack is in perfect condition, with no scratches from misuse.
There are Audi accessory mud flaps at all 4 corners, which do a great job of keeping the road grime off the paintwork.
There is clear film protecting the headlights and all 4 door edge areas.
The factory Avus wheels are mounted with factory correct Michelin Sport Pilot 235/40/ZR18 high performance tires, with approximately 40% tread depth remaining. 2 of the Avus wheels have some curb rash. The other 2 wheels are in excellent shape. A thief decided to steal the Audi ring inner caps, so those are missing. Argh! All the wheels were recently balanced and checked out to be true, requiring minimal weights to balance.

Interior:
The all black Recaro leather interior is in near perfect condition. There is very light wear to the outside bolsters of the driver and passenger seats, as would be expected of 119,000 miles of use. But there is no cracking in the leather and it is still very supple and acceptable in appearance. The rest of the leather looks factory new. Carpets in excellent condition with no tears, holes or stains evident. Included are factory rubber mats, including the cargo area mat, also in perfect condition. All door panels, headliner(black), dash and door sills are in perfect condition with no signs of wear.
All switchgear is in working order, including all window lifts, sunroof, central locking, power seats, seat memory, outside mirrors, rear defrost, all interior lighting, front and rear seat heaters, factory iPod hookup in glovebox. Audi OEM Symphony II 6 disk in dash changer stereo system sounds excellent.
There is a JHM short throw shifter installed, and it operation is direct and without issue.

Mechanicals:
The quad cam 4.2L 340HP V8 runs strong, idles smoothly and sounds like it means it when you step on it.
It handles and stops as an S4 should.
The S4 has a clear Vermont title, with a **REBUILT VEHICLE** designation stated on it. Here's the story on it:
Car was sold new in Chicago to a gentleman who put ~42,000 miles on it, who in turn sold it to a gentlemen in California.
The 2nd owner in CA put 9000 miles on the S4, at which time he drove through a large puddle, and took water into the motor. This occurred at 50,996 miles. His story of what happened next follows(verbatim):
"I was driving during a torrential rainstorm down here in Los Angeles. I drove through a large puddle and by random (bad) luck sucked water into the air intake(which is a regular old stock airbox with a paper filter) which made its way into the engine. The car sputtered and puttered a little bit before conking out. I took the car to a local reputable Audi specialist shop and AAA(my insurance company) was called. The verdict was "there is a spun bearing on the main crankshaft, and most likely some other damage to the engine as well"(I honestly don't quite know what a spun bearing is, but the insurance adjuster is the one that relayed to me what the damage was, and whey the car was being deemed a total loss.)
Now if you are wondering why AAA deemed it a total loss, here is what the AAA agent told me:
AAA's policy is that any engine replacement they do because of a claim will always be with a brand new engine. They WILL NOT put used motors into cars(as the quality and condition of the motor cannot be known 100%) Audi doesn't sell brand new engines for a 2006 S4 anymore. He told me that he checked with Audi and they only sell engines for current model vehicles. So that right there was the nail in the proverbial coffin to having AAA insurance fix the car. The appraiser/assessor said he wanted to fix the car, but that given their policy h
e unfortunately had to total it out.
Just to be crystal clear again. THE ONLY DAMAGE TO THE CAR WAS TO THE MOTOR. It wasn't in an accident resulting in frame, mechanical or body damage. I didn't drive it into a river, there is no water in the engine compartment or on the electronics. It ONLY sucked water into the intake and then into the motor itself and sustained a bad case of hydrolock. It simply needed a new motor."

The 2nd owner decided to replace the motor and contracted Raven Motorsports in Long Beach, CA to perform the motor replacement with a low mileage 4.2L from a 2006 S4. Work was completed on March 18, 2010 at the cost of $7,518.87. I have the full receipts showing this work. The motor has performed trouble free for the past 4 years and ~65,000 miles.
I was not able to find any signs of body damage or paint work ever done to the car when I purchased it, and the vehicle history report supports this.

Additional performance enhancements are a AWE Tuning stainless steel exhaust system, and a K&N air filter.
The car was recently serviced locally, and thoroughly checked through for any needed items.
A tune up was performed, new plugs and 3 coils installed, oil and filter change, and new front brake rotors and pads.
Service records are available with the sale. I also have the original window sticker with books and manuals

Overall, the car is extremely clean, solid and drives beautifully.

Upcoming Audi Q8 coupe-like crossover spied in the snow

Mon, Feb 13 2017

At the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, Audi debuted the Q8 concept, a thinly veiled version of its upcoming coupe-like crossover that's set to compete with the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupe. We now have spy photos that give us our first look at the Q7-based production version, and through the camouflage we can see how telling Audi's Q8 concept really is. All of the major traits from the concept are present on the production model, including that massive, oversized grille and aggressive roofline. In fact, the entire front end appears to carry over from the Q8 concept, just toned down a few notches. The stainless steel accents on the air intakes are gone, and the headlights, though similar in shape, look more traditional than those on the concept. The small cutouts between the grille and the hood look to be gone as well. Around the side, we can see that the concept's sharply angled rear window and sloping roof have are present, mostly unmodified. The Q8's beltline doesn't appear quite as high as the concept's, but the windows look to be the same relative shape. The big creases above the wheel arches have been reduced slightly. Also, although the Q7 and Q8 will share a platform and therefore a wheelbase, the Q8 is slightly shorter overall. The smaller front and rear overhangs, combined with the tight roofline, give it a high-riding hatchback profile, similar to the Porsche Macan. The changes between the concept and production model are most evident around back. The bumper mounted exhaust pipes have been dropped, at least on this version. The upright vents on the outside of the tail lights have also been dropped. The camouflage around the rear is heavy, so it's difficult to to say how much of the body-width tail light carries over, though the light itself seems to shine through in the same shape. No word on when we'll see a production version, but expect to see the Q8 concept around for a few more shows. Look for more details on the engine, including whether or not the plug-in hybrid powertrain carries over from the concept, closer to the full reveal. Related Video:

After Le Mans exit, Audi adds World Rallycross to Formula E and DTM efforts

Wed, Jan 18 2017

Back in October, Dieselgate claimed another victim: Audi's FIA World Endurance Championship program. Audi left at the height of its Le Mans racing prowess, having won 13 times overall in 18 years at the famous French race. We didn't expect Audi Sport to confine itself solely to the Formula E and Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) series, and so today Audi announced that the company would officially back an existing FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX) team, EKS, in 2017. EKS was formed by Mattias Ekstrom, who is also a factory Audi DTM driver with a couple of championships under his belt in that series. He's been competing in various rally and touring car series for years, and even snagged a ride in a NASCAR Sprint Cup race back in 2010 at Infineon Raceway. The EKS team came together in 2014, with Ekstrom fielding an Audi S1 EKS RX Quattro. And the team hasn't done too badly for itself; in 2016, it took the driver's and team championships. There's only so much Ekstrom's team as privateers can do to protect its championship from factory-backed teams, so that explains why Audi Sport was happy to step in with full support – including vehicle development supported by the actual motorsport department at Audi. Ekstrom will also continue on as a factory Audi DTM driver. Related Video: Motorsports Audi Racing Vehicles fia audi s1

Audi mulling producing version of Quattro showcar, just not sure which one [w/poll]

Fri, 13 Sep 2013

Head of design for Audi, Wolfgang Egger, has told Auto Express that a reborn Quattro could enter production, but bosses for the company haven't yet decided whether to base it on the Sport Quattro concept that just debuted at this week's Frankfurt Motor Show or the smaller Quattro concept that was revealed at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.
While both draw their inspiration from the original Ur-Quattro of the 1980s, they vary wildly in both size and choice of powertrain. The 2010 Quattro concept was based on Volkswagen's MQB platform, shared with such vehicles as the Golf and Audi A3. The Sport Quattro, meanwhile, was built atop the company's larger MLB platform that's used almost exclusively for Audi models, including the A5, which is also a coupe.
Under their hoods, the 2010 Quattro concept simply employs a version of the same 2.5-liter engine used in the TT RS, tuned to deliver 408 horsepower, while the Sport Quattro goes nuclear with a twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain that develops 700 hp and 590 pound-feet of torque. Both, of course, employ quattro all-wheel drive just like their forebearer.
