Vehicle Description

Up for your consideration is a very rare 2011 Audi Q7 TDI Diesel. What makes this car so unique is its list of options. It is the top of the line Prestige Package with the S-line option. To one up any other S-line Prestige, it is equipped with the adjustable factory air ride option and the $6300 Bang & Olufsen stereo. I have had several of these cars and I can tell you that I have never seen a air-ride  B&O car in person. In fact when I went ot the Audi dealership to buy the all weather mats, they had never seen a car with all of these options. Todays sticker price on this car would push it close to $90k.

This car is NOT a 1 owner, but does have a clean car history and has never been wrecked. It has not been smoked in or abused, always being adult driven. I purchased the car about 2 1/2 years ago from a family of dealerships that sold it new in Birmingham, Alabama. When I purchased the car it had about 20,000 miles on it and I drove the car for a few months. As a dealer I drove it until I was able to find another S-line Q7 tdi, I never titled it and sold it just under 2 years ago with about 26,000 miles on it. It then belonged to a local attorney who drove the car up until a few weeks ago. I was able to trade back for the car wearing right at 53,000 miles. In the last week I cleaned the car up and installed the 22in Tire and wheel package. Prior to me selling the car back in 2012 I had all four 21in Factory S-line wheels refurbished and installed new 21in tires. When I received the car last week I removed the factory 21s as they all had curb rash and the tires were near slicks! The 22in wheels are massive 22x10 TSWs wrapped in Yokohama 315-30-22s, they are not staggered so they can be rotated. The only downfall to the factory 21s or these 22s is a fair amount of road noise due to a tread width similar to a turbo Porsche! I will continue to drive the car until it sells and will accumulate more miles. Everything works as it should and the car is very clean inside and out. I personally cleaned the entire undercarriage and inspected all steering and suspension components along with axles, engine, and transmission. The air ride works perfectly and does not leak at all! The car is now out of its factory warranty and I am uncertain if a Audi warranty can be purchased.

The car has always been dealer maintained which is not difficult in that the diesel engine has 10,000 miles interval oil changes using the recommended synthetic oil. It is now about halfway through its 50-60k service. The diesel engine will yield about 19mpg around town and 26-28 on the highway. Included in the sale will be both transponder keys and a valet key along with the owners manuals. I do not have the service records but the Audi dealership in Birmingham and Ft. Worth will have the maintenance records. In my opinion the Audi is leaps and bounds better than the Mercedes GL or ML. I can tell you from experience the air ride on the Mercedes is junk and always seems to fail just out of warranty along with a leaking steering rack. I have also had many issues with the power rear hatch on the Mercedes....Knock on wood, I have yet to see any of these problems on a Audi!

Audi adding 11 new models, focus on CUVs and fullsize luxury

Sat, 21 Dec 2013

A press release celebrating Audi's delivery of 1.5 million vehicles this year contains almost a passing reference to the future of its lineup: Audi will add 11 models, expanding from 49 models to 60. The news was delivered at the Audi Forum Ingolstadt during the handover of an A3 Sportback to its German buyer, as execs noted that the brand has hit its target of 1.5 million in annual sales two years earlier than planned.
CEO Rupert Stadler said Audi will "expand our product range from the current 49 to 60 models. We see a great deal of potential, particularly in the SUV segment and in the especially prestigious fullsize category." We have little idea of what kinds of cars that could entail right now, other than the Q1, but we'd like to think it could include an RS8, a production version of the Sport Quattro concept and even the Nanuk.
The model aggrandizement will be part of Audi's push to reach two million annual sales by 2020. You can get a few more details on it in the press release below.

The 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona: What we learned, what we saw

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Two days after the flag dropped on the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, people are still trying to figure out what it might portend for the rest of the season. In 24 hours, two minutes and 24 seconds, 695 laps were completed by the car that crossed the line first. During that time, 67 cars began the race, 18 of them retired. There was that accident, and a red flag. There were supposedly slower classes beating supposedly faster classes. There were 16 caution periods, including that yellow flag. And then there was The Decision. And Then The Uproar. And then The Reversal.
There was also some pretty good racing, so let's have one last look at the weekend. Oh, and there was that 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO Series II...
If you want to skip the reading bits and go to the photos, there's a high-res gallery of 158 images above and a couple more below. Enjoy.

Audi traffic light recognition could save 240 million gallons of fuel [UPDATE]

Tue, Mar 11 2014

Any hypermiler will tell you that the way you drive your car has a huge impact on how much energy it uses. But these greenfoot drivers haven't had a car that's smart enough to tell them about the inner lives of traffic lights. That's what a prototype system in an Audi A6 Saloon that the German automaker recently tested in Las Vegas can do. Since the car can communicate with local traffic signals and is able to predict when lights will change, the car can help reduce CO2 emissions by up to 15 percent. Further, Audi says that the system could save some 238 million gallons of fuel (900 million liters), if deployed across Germany. We can only imagine what hypermilers could do with this. We got to drive the Audi Online traffic light information system prototype in January, but we focused more on how the system worked rather than the green aspect. Now that Audi has had a bit more time to crunch the numbers, it has released fuel economy information for the connected car. The key points for the eco-side of things are that the driver is told in the dashboard how fast/slow to go to hit the next green light. This can help prevent unnecessary speeding and or encourage drivers to go a bit faster in order to hit the green, thus preventing idling and wasted time. The system is too smart to let you idle for long. Except that Audi Online is too smart to let you idle for long. The Audi connect system can calculate how much longer the light will be red and can access the car's start-stop capabilities and will fire up the engine "five seconds before the green phase." That seems like an awful long time in a world where competitors have figured out ways to restart an engine in 0.35 seconds. We've asked Audi for an explanation on why this buffer is so lengthy, and will let you know what the reasoning is when we hear back. Despite the trials in the A6, Audi says the Audi Online traffic system could be integrated into any Audi model, "subject to the necessary government legislation." Aside from the Sin City tests, Audi is running trials of the connected car in Verona, Italy and Berlin, Germany. If you'd like to test it out yourself some day, take heart from this line in the press release, available below: "A market launch is currently the subject of intense analysis in the United States." *UPDATE: Audi's Mark Dahncke told AutoblogGreen that the five second window is meant, "To alert the driver that the light is about to turn green.
