2008 Audi A3 S Line Hatchback Transmission: Manual, becoming a rarity in the modern world of automobile manufacturing but I still prefer to feel like I am driving the car. The gears are light, smooth, and easy. 4 cylinder 6 speed S-Line features: Front and rear alloy wheels with 17 inch rim diameter and 7.5 inch rim width; Alternate suspension; Luxury trim alloy & leather on gearknob and alloy on doors; Leather covered multi-function steering wheel; Remote audio controls; Roof spoiler; Front fog lights; Leather seat upholstery with additional vinyl; Sports driver and passenger seat; Illuminated driver and passenger vanity mirror; Illumination package No cigarette lighter, instead 12V power outlet for adapter or phone charger etc. MP3 dock in the glove compartment Single CD \ AM \ FM Bluetooth wireless connection; voice activating system Steering wheel has as mp3/radio/bluetooth control Cup holders in front: 2 in center between seats. Cup holders in back: 2 in center pop out of the heel of the front center console. Child seat attachments in back, I have never used this option, I believe there is room for two seats (pictures should show this). No smoking. No pets. No kids. Minimal passengers have been in the vehicle. Drivers seat has some signs of use, small crack in leather on left due to general driving time. Overall not a lot of wear and tear or creases. I am lightweight. Drivers side carpet appears used as expected but no huge spills etc. (floor mats are not expensive for replacement) Passenger side (front) seat looks good. Passenger side (front) carpet has some sign of use, no large spills etc. Overall looks good. Backseats fold down for expansive trunk use. The car is smaller than most cars in a (Texas) parking lot but the inside packs a shocking amount of goods when the seats are folded down. Backseat appears almost brand new due to lack of use and passengers. Back carpet nearly spotless. A few tiny scrapes on a couple of the rims. Sorry, not too noticeable at least. Minor scrapes and pinpoint dings may be seen after a thorough assessment of the body. I cannot help the carelessness of others, but once again nothing too noticeable. Left back side panel has an indent which may be seen in the pictures but could easily be pressed out at a body shop. I do not know how it got there but someone either threw a mudpack at it while parallel parked downtown, or they used mud to cover up the dent. Either way, it was not noticed until I washed the car and have not fixed it. One (not my fault) accident was reported and is listed on the Auto check report. No structure damage and no problems after the vehicle was repaired. A nice guy turned from the center lane into my car to make a left turn down a street however he was in the center lane and I was in the left lane minding my own business. There is honestly nothing noticeable after the repairs however I can now say that Audi feels extremely safe in an accident! There is a lifetime warranty with the body shop if anything associated with the accident is ever to become a problem. Paperwork included. Air conditioning and heat work normal. Never any issues. All windows and locks work normal. Never any issues. Overall performance of this vehicle is great. No complaints. I would buy it again. I am only selling the car because I do not drive much and now work from home. Car to go is not as nice to drive as this car, however it is my choice for the time being. Mileage: 54,650 Keys: one normal + one valet Title: USAA holds the title, which is in the sole owner's name (my name) - USAA is 100% secure and easy to work with for transfer of title I am a fair person. The Audi R8 doesn't need turbos to visit Jay Leno's Garage
Tue, Jan 12 2016When Audi launched the original R8 in 2006, it caused a sensation. For its second go at the model, Audi skipped the V8 and went straight for ten-cylinder power in two states of tune: the V10 and the V10 Plus. Of course Jay Leno had the more potent of the two visit his garage. In V10 Plus trim, the Audi makes over 600 horsepower – all from a naturally-aspirated V10 in a segment increasingly dominated by turbocharging. Rivals like the Mercedes-AMG GT, Porsche 911 Turbo, McLaren 570S, and Ferrari 488 have all adopted turbochargers, which makes the R8 something of a modern-day Shelby Cobra, as Leno puts it. Former Audi chief designer Wolfgang Egger leaves Italdesign
Sat, Dec 27 2014The latest word from the international community of automotive designers has it that Wolfgang Egger is leaving Italdesign, but just where the accomplished designer will land next and who will take his place remain big question marks. Egger is a designer who has bounced back and forth between Italy and Germany over the course of his career. He was born in Germany but studied in Milan. He began his career at Alfa Romeo in 1989 and was named its chief designer by 1993 before being head-hunted by the Volkswagen Group in 1998 to head up the design department at Seat. A few years later he went returned to Italy to run the Lancia design department, and was subsequently renamed to the same post at Alfa Romeo. In 2007 he went back to his native Germany to head up the Audi design office, over which he assumed complete responsibility by 2012, but left Audi in 2013 to run Italdesign. For those unfamiliar, Italdesign is the studio founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro (pictured at left next to Egger) back in 1968 but which, along with many other Italian design houses, fell on hard times in recent years. The Volkswagen Group swooped in to rescue the troubled studio in 2010, turning it into something of an in-house advanced design department to provide an alternative perspective on the direction in which the group and its various brands could take their respective designs moving forward. With Egger now leaving its helm, Italdesign and its German parent company will need to find his replacement, and we're sure they'll announce one in due course. The bigger question on our minds, however, is where Egger himself will head next. Given the path his career has taken to date, we wouldn't be surprised to see him land elsewhere in the Volkswagen Group or find a new role in the expanding Fiat Chrysler Automobiles empire. 2015 Audi R8 Competition ready to rock LA
Tue, 28 Oct 2014The heyday of the first-generation Audi R8 is winding down, and the Four Rings already has a bespoke factory to start building the next model soon. In the meantime, the German brand is sending its supercar off with a bang at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show in the form of this limited-edition 2015 R8 Competition - the most powerful production vehicle ever made by the company.
Audi is earmarking just 60 examples of the Competition for the US, and this is more than just a trim package to say farewell. Power for the supercar comes from the usual 5.2-liter V10 that's massaged to develop 570 horsepower, an extra 20 hp over the already quite potent V10 Plus, and the only available transmission is the seven-speed, dual clutch S Tronic gearbox. The tweaks let this limited R8 rocket to 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds and achieve a maximum velocity of 199 mph. To haul that speed to a stop, it also gets ceramic brake disks with red calipers.
Of course, having such a rare supercar means showing off a little. Audi takes inspiration from the R8 LMS Ultra racecar for the Competition and tries to bring some of its details to the street. The model wears matte carbon fiber pieces replacing the rear spoiler, mirror housings, side blades, front spoiler and rear diffuser. For an extra mean-looking touch, it also has high-gloss black paint covering the wheels and exhaust pipes.
