The reason for selling this A3 is because I bought another one, a 2012 (see last photo).  This car is great balance of performance, fuel mileage and versatility.  I'm just sorry that Audi has decided not to no longer offer it as a four-door sportwagon in the US after this model year.  I am the second owner having purchased the car with less than 7,000 miles on it in 2006.

It now has 145,000+ miles (non-smoking, adult driver only), 2/3 of which are highway miles.  I drove it recently on a 500 mile trip and averaged 28.5 miles per gallon. The mechanical condition is very good with documentation of all maintenance. VIN provided to an Audi dealer should give you access to the records up to 120k and records of remaining maintenance by local service department can be provided upon request.

Suspension has been upgraded at 100k with Koni gold shocks and Eibach springs and sway bars, lowering the car 3/4 of an inch. Still a comfortable ride with improved handling performance. Kuhmo high performance summer tires with less than 10k miles.  Wheels are 17' original equipment with no road rash or marks.

Auto transmission with DSG (paddle shifters) on the steering wheel. CPU was upgraded to APR 4-stage. Stage 1 set for regular unleaded gas (89 octane).

This car has never been in an accident. The exterior is free of dents or scrapes.  The paint is unfaded but there are small stone chips on the hood and minor scratches on the rear bumper wrap.  Front spoiler was replaced due to parking block incidents. Remote key is missing cover, but still operates manually.  Interior is clean with some visible wear on driver's seat, but no tears in the fabric and no separation of the seams.  There are some scratches on front and rear door panels. Includes two sunroofs, front (operable) and rear (fixed). Bra for front nose is also included as well as all weather mats for front, rear and cargo area.

Next-gen Audi RS4 coming, might make it to America

Sat, Jul 11 2015

Let us be frank: The second-generation Audi RS4 was one of the best, most exciting cars of the past decade. A four-door sedan with a 4.2-liter V8, all-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual transmission? What wasn't to like? While you can still get a taste of the B7 RS4's character with the current RS5, it isn't quite the same. That's why we're giddy about a new report from Car and Driver, which claims that not only is a new RS4 on the way, but that it could, maybe, possibly return to the United States. As previously reported, the fourth-generation RS4 will go back to a twin-turbocharged V6, after two generations of unassisted V8s under the hood. As per RS4 tradition, it will also be limited to a five-door Avant body style, because "that is what people expect from the RS4," Quattro GmbH boss Heinz Hollerweger told Car and Driver. An RS5 Sportback could also be in the offing, which might remain more true to the character of the first US-market RS4. The US question, though, remains an iffy one, largely because of the Avant shape. Audi has reduced the number of wagons it's offered in the US over the years, dropping the A4 and A6 Avant, although the former is sort of still offered in the form of the Allroad. But that position might be enough to keep the next-gen RS4 off our shores, although as the Quattro boss told CD the US market is changing and "there is more demand there [for wagons], so maybe that will change." Well, Herr Hollerweger, we're here to tell you that America loves wagons, and that you should put the next-gen RS4 on sale over here post haste. Danke.

Ken Block and friends race light in silly-beautiful Castrol commercial

Wed, 28 May 2014

How does one make fast, loud, drifting cars better? Well, you can add more fast, loud, drifting cars or you can add lasers. Either or, really. In this case, Castrol did the right thing and added both, creating a highly stylized commercial for its Edge Titanium motor oil starring South African racer Adrian Zaugg, BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus, Audi DTM and Le Mans staple Mike Rockenfeller and some bloke named Ken Block.
Their cars? No surprise, but Block is in his Ford Fiesta GRC, while Zaugg samples a Lamborghini Aventador and Farfus and Rockenfeller drive along party lines, with a BMW M4 and an Audi R8, respectively. And those cars look good, too, thanks to the creative light and laser work on display.
Take a look below for the video from Castrol.

Audi: 20-25% of our cars will have a plug by 2025

Wed, Nov 18 2015

If you like the promise of Audi's E-Tron Quattro concept, you're going to love this post. Speaking at an intimate dinner in Los Angeles the night before the start of the Los Angeles Auto Show, Audi of America president Scott Keogh had nothing but positive things to say about his brand's future plug-in vehicles, including the production version of the E-Tron Quattro. The most interesting was that he said he expects a full 20 to 25 percent of Audi's sales to be electrified by around 2025, and there was lots of detail to back up his vision. "This is the reality as we see it." - Scott Keogh Keogh wasn't making specific predictions, but it's been a long while since we've heard such a high-level Audi executive act like such a troubadour for the electric vehicle future. As long-time readers will remember, we used to hear things like this from Nissan's Carlos Ghosn, but public predictions have taken a bit of a back seat recently. It's promising to hear reasonable optimism again. "When you look at what needs to happen and you look at what we see happening in the marketplace, we're probably looking at a world where 25 percent of Audi's sales, over the next ten years, just to throw out a rough point in the future, are either going to be full electric or have some plug," Keogh said. "This is the reality as we see it." The reason Keogh is so positive is because Audi thinks the E-Tron Quattro concept is going to birth one heck of an EV. Whatever it's called when it arrives – it's unlikely to be the Q6, as some rumors have it. Internally, Audi is calling it the C-BEV, since it is a C-segment Battery Electric Vehicle – the concept previews a luxury all-electric vehicle with a range of over 300 miles. No one is talking about the price yet, but Audi of America's director of product management, Filip Brabec, did say that the sweet spot for the pricing is in the range of how mainstream luxury vehicles are priced today. "If you can put a car in the market that's priced right ... people are going to want to buy it," Keogh said. Read into all of that what you will. It's not just the price that's going to be right. Keogh said that the key point is changing hearts and minds to want electric vehicles. That means tripling down on public infrastructure (see more below) and making sure the car itself is amazing. "Everyone knows, in the history of the world, launch a defining, game-changing product, in whatever category it bloody is, and - boom - the world changes," Keogh said.
