Please give the photos time to load as they accurately portray the condition of the car. Car is being sold with NO RESERVE! Bid to own. If you have less than 5 feedbacks or negative feedback, please contact me before bidding so I know that you are a serious buyer and understand the terms of this auction. Up for auction is my 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce with 88k original miles. This car has a soul that a true Alfisti would appreciate. This is my fifth Spider and this one drives as well as any of them ever did. I bought it last winter and have done alot of small repairs and maintenance since then to improve the car. If you are looking for an inexpensive classic fun summer car that can be driven and enjoyed today, then this is your car. If you are looking for a garage queen or potential concours car, please pass on this one. This is more of a "carport" queen. A properly restored example would easily bring $15k so this will be a bargain for someone at no reserve! The best part about this car is the way that it drives. The engine is very quiet and tight. No exhaust leaks, no funny noises. Once warmed up, the engine just sings as you go through the gears. The clutch is excellent and the synchronizers are better than they usually are. If you know how to drive these cars and shift smoothly, there will be no grinding. Drive it like a Nissan and you will have problems. Brakes, steering and suspension all feel good. Tires have less than 3000 miles on them. The paint has many scratches, chips, cracks, checking, touch-ups, etc. A picky person might want to paint it. But some might enjoy the patina and worry less when they park. But it is The interior is all original and in good shape for its age. I soaked the leather seats in mink oil for three days to help preserve them. The driver's seat has a couple of cracks in the bottom and a small hole in the vinyl bottom side panel. The passenger seat has a couple of cracks in the bottom. Dashboard has no cracks. All instruments work, dash lights do not( I have not checked this out, could be simple). Carpets are in nice shape. Vent window locks are not on. I have the right one, can get the left on ebay for about $25. Power windows work fine but at a snail's pace. Car has AC, it's all there and the compressor is free but it doesn't work. Ashtray is missing. Has Blaupunkt CD player that works fine through one speaker. There is a full size spare and factory jack with tool pouch. The previous owner did regular repairs and maintenance over a 11 year period, but only drove it about 2,000 miles during that time. I have a stack of records. I also installed a new Kirkland battery about a month ago. I know many will ask, "Can I drive this car home to _________? That depends on your experience and abilities. Personally, I could get in the car now and drive to Florida and I would probably make it without any serious incident. But I have alot of experience with this type of thing. Mechanically, this car seems really solid and should be fine with judicious driving and a watchful eye. But please remember the car is 28 years old, so if you are not comfortable with the idea of (mis)adventure on the road then I would be happy to help arrange shipping. I have the clean California title signed by the previous owner. The registration expired 1-3-14. I am selling the car as is and the buyer will be responsible for any tax, tag, title or smog fees. Car did pass its last smog check. That being said, to encourage bidders who are paying cash and are from California, I will refund $100 to help offset these costs. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE: This is a NO RESERVE auction, high bid wins. You are bidding to OWN the car, not the right to inspect it. Car is sold AS-IS, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. $500 NON REFUNDABLE PAYPAL deposit to be paid by buyer within 24 hours of auction's end. Full payment required within 7 days, no exceptions. Payment methods for balance are cash in person, bank transfer, USPS Money orders, verified cashiers check. Title and vehicle will be released when payment has cleared. Vehicle to be picked up within 14 days of auction's end unless prior arrangements are made.

Alfa CEO says 4C can manage more power
Mon, May 5 2014With 240 horsepower from a 1.75-liter engine, the Alfa Romeo 4C does a lot with very little. But there's always room for improvement, says the company's CEO. Speaking with Automotive News, Alfa Romeo chief Harald Wester indicated that the historic Italian auto marque could squeeze more out of the 4C's already high-strung engine. "We are only at 134 horsepower per liter," said Wester, "so there is space" for it to produce yet more power. To accommodate the extra muscle, Wester says, the Alfa would also need bigger brakes, but the chassis may already be as stiff as it needs to be. Considering that Mercedes gets 355 horsepower out of the 2.0-liter turbo four in the A45, CLA45 and GLA45 AMG (for a specific output of over 177 hp per liter), Wester may be right, opening the door for a 300hp version with a 0-60 time of around four seconds flat. And his saying so more than subtly suggests the possibility of a more powerful 4C becoming a reality. But then the prospect of shoehorning a bigger engine into the same chassis to make a new Maserati GranSport - another prospect which Wester (also CEO of Maserati) suggested earlier in the 4C's development - never came to pass, largely due to engineering roadblocks. Alfa Romeo's new CEO sees room to bring back the GTV and the Duetto
Fri, May 21 2021Alfa Romeo is open to reviving the GTV and the Duetto, two of its most emblematic nameplates, in the coming years. Whether either model returns partially depends on how well the firm's more mainstream models sell. "I'm very interested in the GTV. There is no statement or announcement at this stage, but I'm just giving you a personal feeling that I'm very interested in the GTV. I also love the Duetto," said Jean-Philippe Imparato, the Peugeot veteran who became Alfa Romeo's CEO under Stellantis, in an interview with Australia's CarSales. It's far too early to tell what each model would look like with any significant degree of certainty. Besides, we've been here before: in 2018, former Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) boss Sergio Marchionne outlined a born-again GTV with 600 horsepower, some degree of electrification, all-wheel drive, and seating for four when he presented Alfa Romeo's bold five-year plan. That model has been canned, along with a 700-horsepower halo coupe called 8C. Playing it safe, Imparato cautioned that neither two-door has been approved for production. Alfa Romeo's range currently consists of the Giulia, the Stelvio and the 4C, though the latter is a niche model at the end of its life cycle. It needs to achieve volume before executives can begin exploring coupe and convertible options, and we're in a market where the quickest and most effective way to increase sales is to make SUVs and crossovers. The next new addition to the Alfa Romeo range is widely believed to be the production version of the Tonale concept from 2019. "Allow me to bring Alfa Romeo to a certain level of economic performance, and then we speak," Imparato stressed. "In this time of big changes for the industry, the first priority is to protect Alfa Romeo and drive it through the challenges related to electrification, connectivity and safety," he added. Coupes and convertibles will come later. Interestingly, he strongly hinted the reports claiming the rear-wheel-drive Giorgio platform is on its way out are false. In Alfa-speak, the GTV nameplate traces its roots to the Bertone-designed 105-Series coupe released in 1963. It was called Giulia Sprint GT at launch, and it became the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce (which means "fast" in Italian) in 1965. GTV is the acronym that stuck throughout the model's career. Alfa put the nameplate on the coupe version of the Alfetta (pictured), and it added the 6 suffix when it stuffed the 2.5-liter Busso V6 in the engine bay.
Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla Model X towing drag race, Porsche 918 salvage auction
Wed, Mar 23 2016Watch an Alfa Romeo 4C drag race against a Tesla Model X towing an Alfa Romeo 4C. The ridiculous (or, perhaps more appropriately, ludicrous) race appeared in MotorTrend's Instagram, which was then shared on Facebook by Tesla Motors Autopilot Program Director Sterling Anderson, along with the comment, "Fun fact: many high-performance cars cross the quarter mile line faster when towed by a Model X than they do on their own four wheels." While we can't quite see the actual results of the drag race in the video, it appears to be a close one. Check it out in the video above, and read more from Electrek. A Porsche 918 Spyder has gone up for auction. Unfortunately, it's a salvage auction, and said performance plug-in hybrid is totally mangled. The gut-wrenching photos reveal an even sadder detail, as the car's odometer shows it only logged 92 miles before being involved in what appears to have been a terrible wreck (though the listing describes the miles as "not actual"). The current bid on the Copart auction site is up to $106,000, and the listing shows a $600,000 repair estimate. The very expensive hunk of metal and carbon fiber is located in Long Island. Check out the listing for yourself, or read more at MotorAuthority. GKN Driveline says that German drivers are more interested in plug-in hybrids (especially with all-wheel drive) than conventional hybrid cars. In a poll of more than 1,000 drivers commissioned by GKN, 75 percent preferred PHEVs to standard hybrids, while 61.2 percent said that 50 kilometers (31 miles) of electric range is enough for their daily driving duties. About 81 percent are "wary of hybrids," most believing them to be a poor value. 52 percent said their ideal car would combine a plug and all-wheel drive. "We believe that plug-in hybrids with all-wheel drive make sense," says GKN Automotive President of Engineering Peter Moelgg, "and the public's positive response to vehicle programmes that offer this combination – like the Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine, BMW i8, and Porsche 918 Spyder – can only continue to grow." Read more in the press release below. NEW RESEARCH REVEALS GERMAN DRIVERS PREFER PLUG-IN HYBRIDS Lohmar, Germany, 22 March 2016: Drivers now consider plug-in hybrid vehicles to be more attractive and practical than conventional hybrids, a survey commissioned by GKN Driveline has revealed.
