1974 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Convertible 2-door 2.0l *no Reserve!!! on 2040-cars
Ormond Beach, Florida, United States
I am in my seventies and it is time to sell
my driver quality Alfa Romeo. Last fall I turned the car over to an experienced
Alfa technician with the instructions to properly mechanically prep this
vehicle for an eventual sale. Items that were fixed and/or improved
include (but are not limited to) new front seal and pulley plus injection pump
belt, new brake master cylinder and rubber wheel hoses, new high performance
electronic ignition (RML?), new Bosch coil, new Bosch electric fuel pump and
related fuel lines, new emergency brake cable and related hardware and, of
course, all associated fluids and filters. Total cost for parts and labor (will
include receipt) was $3267.43!!! After having worked on the car and having
driven the car for a couple of days, the mechanic is convinced the
odometer miles are true. The cockpit of the Alfa is in very nice, mostly
original and in highly detailed condition. It still has the original rubber
mats throughout. The floors are solid and I applied 3m sound control mats
beneath the rubber. The door panels are straight and door jambs present very
well. The engine compartment is clean and in original unaltered condition. The
luggage compartment is also very clean, nicely detailed and it houses an almost
new spare tire mounted on a bead blasted and refinished steel rim. The original
working jack has been refinished along with the factory lug wrench. This is a
color change car having been painted in base/clear coat some years ago by a
previous owner. The original color was a factory off white (see photo of
luggage compartment without mat). The paint job, not show quality, still shines
nicely. The convertible top is an older vinyl one that is still weather tight. I
have always kept the top folded beneath the boot cover having only driven the
car in good weather. The tires are in very good condition, showing little tread
wear. Included in the sale are two original ignition keys, an original owner's
manual, a service manual, the original distributor and cap, the original coil,
new metal side emblems and a new reproduction chrome side view mirror with Alfa
Romeo logo (from International Auto Parts). The Alfa will need rocker panel
work in time (a previous owner had some correction done but not to a high
standard). Repair panels were fabricated rather than using factory
replacements. These things are taken into consideration by offering the car at
a rather low and NO RESERVE starting bid (I have two and a half times that
amount invested). The Alfa starts up, runs, drives and stops extremely well. Clutch
activity and shifting is very good (second gear is no problem after brief
gearbox warm-up). The car is garage kept and covered when it is not in use (see
picture) and cover is included with sale. |

Alfa Romeo Stelvio caught testing under the cloak of darkness
Tue, Oct 11 2016With Americans still going crazy over compact SUVs and crossovers, the upcoming Alfa Romeo Stelvio is the Italian automaker's latest attempt at regaining its status as a household name in the US. Photographers managed to capture a prototype testing at night with very little camouflage to hide the SUV's overall design. These photos are the clearest ones we've seen of the upcoming SUV. The prototype's front end is extremely similar to the Giulia's with two oval-shaped outlets on the side of the fascia with a v-shaped grille in the center. The headlights, which are surrounded by black tape, also mimic the units found on the Giulia. The ruffles in the camouflage on the hood suggest that the Stelvio gets a pair of vents. The profile of the crossover is much more round than previous prototypes depicted with the overall shape mimicking the Jaguar F-Pace, but much smaller in size. The taillights, surprise, surprise, also resemble the same ones found on the Giulia. There's no way to know what type of engine is powering the Stelvio prototype, but the two tailpipes and skinny tires point toward something much more subdued than the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that puts out 505 horsepower in the Giulia Quadrifoglio. We expect the production version of the crossover to get the same gasoline and diesel options as the Giulia, depending on where the vehicle is sold. The Stelvio – and this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone – looks like a larger, taller Giulia. While the prototype looks ghastly with its camouflage, we expect, and hope, that the SUV will look a lot better at its debut, which could take place at next month's Los Angeles Motor Show. Alfa Romeo returns to F1 as Sauber title sponsor
Wed, Nov 29 2017LONDON - Alfa Romeo will become title sponsor of the Sauber Formula One team next season as part of a multi-year technical and commercial partnership, both sides announced on Wednesday. "This agreement with the Sauber F1 Team is a significant step in the reshaping of the Alfa Romeo brand, which will return to Formula One after an absence of more than 30 years," Fiat Chrysler chief executive Sergio Marchionne said in a statement. Sauber announced in a statement of their own that the team will officially be known as the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team from 2018 onwards. "Working closely with a car manufacturer is a great opportunity for the Sauber Group to further develop its technology and engineering projects," Sauber Holding AG chairman Pascal Picci said. "We are confident that together we can bring the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team great success, and look forward to a long and successful partnership."Reporting by Alan Baldwin.Related Video: Image Credit: REUTERS/Ueslei Marcelino Motorsports Alfa Romeo Racing Vehicles F1 Sergio Marchionne FCA
Alfa Romeo Zagato-designed Giulia-derived coupe previewed
Wed, Dec 7 2022Alfa Romeo's long-awaited return to the coupe segment may be imminent. The company published an enigmatic preview image on its social media channels that shows the rear end of what's labeled the "Giulia SWB Zagato," and it pledged to release more details in the near future. While there's not much we can glean by looking at the dark teaser, we can at least say with near-certainty that the coupe won't look much like the Giulia when viewed from the back. The photo depicts a thin strip of LEDs that seemingly stretches across the entire rear end, and the basic silhouette is vaguely reminiscent of the Giulia TZ (Tubolare Zagato) and TZ2 coupes built in very limited numbers during the 1960s. Beyond that, your guess regarding what we're looking at is as good as ours. The name strongly suggests that the coupe will be Giulia-based, shorter than the sedan, and designed jointly with Zagato. Company boss Jean-Philippe Imparato has previously confirmed that the two-door model will make its debut at some point in 2023 and he clarified that it will be "very exciting, very selective, and very expensive." To us, it sounds like the coupe will land as a limited-edition model rather than as a regular-production addition to the company's range. What the coupe will be powered by is up in the air as well. Given the Giulia-derived platform, we wouldn't be surprised if power comes from a version of the 2.9-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 that powers the range-topping Quadrifoglio. The six develops 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque in Alfa Romeo's BMW M3 fighter but those figures could increase in the coupe. Rear-wheel-drive should come standard. Alfa Romeo will publish additional details about the Giulia SWB Zagato in the coming weeks, and we'll see the coupe by the end of 2023. Related video: Design/Style Alfa Romeo Coupe Luxury Performance
