This Spider underwent a complete professional metal restoration, including the floors and rockers. The body was stripped/prepped, and the doors, hood, trunk lid, and dash removed before painting in a spray boot seven years ago.
The only part left unpainted is the undercarriage, which is in epoxy primer. The car has been stored in a dry, heated garage ever since it was brought home from the body shop. Not much has been done to it other than installing the bumpers, some lights and the dash. Although the most difficulty work was painstakingly done, the car still needs a soft top, and brake, mechanical, suspension and interior work. As such, it may be of interest to those who prefer avoiding the time and expense of bringing a Duetto's body shell back to its original glory. The drive train has 78,564 miles. The engine turns freely by hand or with the starter if you apply 12 volts to the solenoid. The only parts missing include the exhaust system (front, center and rear muffler), the exhaust shield under the car, the metal shields for the clutch MC and brake MC, the metal brake lines to the rear proportioning valve and rear right caliper, the radiator plastic shroud, the factory tool kit, the soft top, and the interior rubber mats and carpeting. The following parts have been media blasted and primed or painted: front A-arms, rear trailing arms, front splash shields, heater box metal pieces, head light buckets, drive shafts, pedal assembly, and all the soft top frame pieces. New front A-arms and rear trailing arms bushing were installed along with new OEM front springs pans and rear axle limiting straps. The drive shafts received new u-joints and center bearing support. A new windshield made in England and a new windshield rubber gasket is included in the sale price. It is probably best to install these after taking care of the few cracks on the upper dashboard. Please note that the New York State DMV does not issue titles for 1972 and older vehicles. This Alfa Romeo will be sold with a certification of sale. I would prefer a cash transaction but can accept a check. However, you will have to wait until the balance shows in my account before you gain possession of the vehicle. I encourage any potential buyer to come see the car. I kindly ask those who showed interest in this car in the past but were unable to finalize its purchase to find another project. |

Vintage 1921 Alfa Romeo G1 rally car hits RM Sotheby’s
Tue, Dec 26 2017The only known surviving, fully operational example of Alfa Romeo's first commercial car is hitting the auction block at RM Sotheby's at its auction in Phoenix next month, when the 1921 G1 is expected to fetch up to $1.5 million. It's one of only 52 examples, including two prototypes, built between 1921 and 1923, and the only known surviving member of the series, stamped chassis No. 6018. It spent many years on a remote farm in Australia, during part of which the engine was put to work powering a water pump, before undergoing a restoration sometime in the mid-1960s. The G1 is powered by a 6.3-liter side-valve inline six that was said to have been designed with input from Enzo Ferrari, then a driver for the company, and was the largest motor ever fitted to an Alfa. It was based on two cast-iron three-cylinder blocks with fixed cylinder heads, a cylinder bore of 98 millimeters and a stroke of 140 mm to make 71 horsepower and 216 pound-feet of torque, with a top speed of 86 mph. It has a four-speed manual gearbox, which sends power to the rear axle through a single-dry plate clutch and an open driveshaft. The G1 was built to support Alfa Romeo's racing activities and was marketed to the same upscale clientele as Rolls-Royce, Hispano Suiza and others. A stripped-down version of the car won its production class at the Coppa del Garda, according to RM Sotheby's, but the production version suffered for being an expensive fuel guzzler at a time of economic and political chaos in Italy following World War I. So the company exported all 50 production versions to Australia (and possibly to South Africa), where this one was picked up by a Queensland businessman, who later went into bankruptcy and sent the car to a farm in the Outback to hide it from creditors. Ranch workers reportedly found it in the late '40s and used it as a farm runabout before the rear axle failed and the engine was used for the water pump. The remains of the G1 were acquired by a man named Ross Flewell-Smith, who would restore it over 10 years, including finding authentic replacement parts. 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio exhaust is just as good as you hoped

As such, you likely already know that the 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio has a Ferrari-derived twin-turbo V6 making 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. What you may not know for sure is how it sounds. And if you watch the video above, you'll know positively that it sounds excellent. Most of the video features the Alfa in Dynamic or Race modes, which open up the exhaust and make the shifts faster and aggressive, among other things such as stiffening the suspension. In these modes, the Alfa growls, howls and everything in-between. It's not a flawless performance, as there are times you get a bit of V6 drone, but when its right, its pipes sound amazing Fortunately for anyone with easily agitated neighbors, or buyers who want to take the Alfa on long drives, it quiets right down in its normal and eco modes. It also starts in the normal mode by default, so you won't wake anyone up if you have to drive off late at night or early in the morning. Fiat reconsidering Mazda-based Alfa Romeo roadster? [w/poll]

With apologies to Job (he has gone through a lot, after all), that's how things are looking at the Italian automaker - whether it's the promise of new products or its impending return to the North American market. But it's especially true when it comes to new roadsters.
While Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil the 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show this week, reports are now suggesting that its other roadster project is being called into question. That project is a joint venture between Fiat and Mazda, which was set to produce a version of its next MX-5 Miata as an Alfa Romeo, and was even changing the design to accommodate Alfa's requirements.
Now it appears, however, that the whole project in doubt. The problem seems to stem from Sergio Marchionne's pronouncements that, as long as he's in charge, there won't be an Alfa Romeo built outside of Italy.
