This Alfa Romeo Spider is an unfinished project that needs mechanical, brake, suspension and interior work.

The only parts missing are the soft top cloth, the exhaust shields under the car, the center
and rear muffler, the factory tool kit, the interior rubber mats and transmission tunnel carpet, the rear brake lines from the proportioning valve to calipers, the metal line from the clutch MC to slave cylinder, and the radiator fan and shroud.

The body and underside was stripped, media blasted and restored.  The metal restoration was undertaken by European craftsmen who took no shortcuts.

This is a truly rust free and structurally sound car that was painted in and out in a spray
booth.  Only the underside was left in epoxy primer; the new owner can decide was is best to use there.

Other work involved media blasting and painting the soft top frame, front suspension "A" arms, drive shafts, rear trailing arms, and the heater box metal pieces.  New bushings were installed on the front/rear arms and new u-joints and center bearing on the drive shafts. New front lower spring pans and rear axle limiting straps were also installed.

The car has been kept under a good quality cover in a dry, heated garage ever since it got back from the body shop 6 years ago.  During this period, the dash assembly, front/rear bumpers, grill, door handles and some exterior lights were installed.

The following parts that need to be installed are included in the advertised price:

-  European factory Dell'Orto DHLA40 carburetors setup taken from a running Alfa with a        1750 engine.  The carburetors were cleaned and gone over by a mechanic in Italy 2              years ago.

-  New fuel tank for Roundtail Spider with carburetors

-  New performance nickel/chrome plated headers with extension pipe to replace the front        muffler (Centerline part # PH115)

-  A new windshield from England

-  New weatherstripping for windshield, doors and trunk

-  Complete upholstery kit (not covers)

-  New OEM rear left bumper

-  Rebuilt wiper motor and alternator

-  New water pump

-  New cowl drain hoses set with firewall grommets

Please note that no titles are issued in NY State for vehicles of this vintage.  This car will be sold with a certificate of sale and statement of transaction.

Sergio rethinks FCA-GM merger idea, dismisses critics

Sat, Dec 5 2015

After many public overtures, Fiat Chrysler Automotive CEO Sergio Marchionne has claimed his company won't be making a hostile takeover bid for General Motors. This is despite widespread speculation that FCA's desire to merge was motivated by its allegedly dire situation. As one unnamed GM exec who spoke to Automotive News earlier this year put it, "Why should [GM] bail out FCA?" "We are not choking. We are in relatively decent shape," Marchionne told journalists attending an FCA shareholder meeting in Amsterdam, AN reports. "We have been publicly rebuffed, we have been rejected and you cannot force these things. I don't want to. At the moment, we have no intention to do anything hostile." Instead of focusing on merging with GM, or any other partners for that matter, FCA will refocus on implementing its ambitious five-year investment plan, which would see it dump $52 billion into its various brands, with a particular focus on Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and Jeep. So far the attempt has largely been unsuccessful, especially as it relates to the Italian brands. Earlier this week, additional reports emerged that claimed Alfa was pushing back the Giulia and an unnamed CUV while reassigning resources to updated versions of the Giulietta and MiTo hatchbacks. This is not the first time we've heard about trouble for the Giulia, of course. For Masearti, though, it was the first we'd heard of delays for Alfieri sports car, which allegedly won't appear in 2016, as promised. We can expect a proper breakdown of FCA's adjusted plans when Marchionne and Company reveal an updated product slate next month. Stellantis will enter joint venture with Samsung SDI for EV batteries

Tue, Oct 19 2021

SEOUL — South Korean battery maker Samsung SDI Co Ltd and global automaker Stellantis NV have agreed to jointly produce electric vehicle (EV) batteries for the North American market, a person familiar with the matter said on Tuesday. Samsung SDI, an affiliate of South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics, already has EV battery plants in South Korea, China and Hungary, which supply customers such as BMW and Ford. "The two companies (Samsung SDI and Stellantis) have struck a MOU (memorandum of understanding) to produce EV batteries for North America," the person with knowledge of the matter told Reuters. The source spoke of condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter. The person said the location of the battery joint venture is under review and will be announced later. In July, Reuters reported that Samsung SDI may build a battery plant in the United States, citing a company source. South Korea's Yonhap news agency earlier reported the two companies plan to build a factory in the United States, citing industry sources. Samsung SDI and Stellantis did not have immediate comment when reached by Reuters. Stellantis on Monday struck a preliminary deal with battery maker South Korea's LG Energy Solution (LGES) to produce battery cells and modules for North America. Shares of Samsung SDI were up 2.6% as of 0300 GMT, versus a 0.6% rise in the KOSPI benchmark index. 2017 Alfa Romeo Model Year Preview and Updates

Tue, Jan 31 2017

Having taken a twenty year sabbatical from the U.S. market, Fiat Chrysler Automobile's Alfa Romeo returned for the 2015 model year with the ALFA ROMEO 4C COUPE, a singularly two seat, mid-engined sports car with a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, high-performance 1.7 liter turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain and competition-inspired bodywork. Although the 4C's price point isn't inexpensive, the amount charged is pocket change relative to what is required by Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche. The 4C Spider was introduced for 2016, while 2017 brings a modest list of modifications to the sporting two-seater, including Alpine Premium audio, the addition of Giallo Prototipo (yellow) to the 4C Coupe, an available carbon fiber roof treatment and updated wheel selection. GIULIA/GIULIA Ti and GIULIA QUADRIFOGLIO: Although the 4C Coupe may have taken the figurative lead in Alfa Romeo's return to the US market, the substantive start will be taken in the 2017 model year by Alfa Romeo's midsize sport sedan, the Giulia. All variants of the Giulia combine a balanced chassis, responsive drivetrains and Italianate bodywork in a compelling four door package. And with a turbocharged V6 drivetrain, sub-4 second 0-60 and a record-setting lap (for a 4-door) of the Nurburgring, the Quadrifoglio will battle BMW's M3 in Europe's super-sedan segment. STELVIO (2018): While final specs are still TBD, following the Giulia later in the 2017 calendar year will be Alfa Romeo's 2018 Stelvio. Based on the Giulia platform and formally introduced to the public at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Stelvio will tap into the country's appetite for compact and midsize crossovers with an upright – albeit curvaceous – platform, responsive four cylinder power and performance-oriented all-wheel drive. The Stelvio should arrive in US showrooms sometime in the 2017 calendar year.
