1988 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio Convertible 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
United States
|
As stated in my condition description this is a project vehicle that
runs but needs some cosmetic repairs and restoration. It's a 1988 Alfa
Romeo Quadrifoglio Spider bought new by it's single owner. Unfortunately
he passed and the car sat for many years so there are some areas that
have been attacked by rust. The front left and right fenders are pretty
rusted out along with the valance in front of the wind shield (however I
have a brand new one in black that can be painted red to match that
will be included in the sale). Also the spare tire carrier has rusted out and needs repair. I have taken pictures of all the bad spots and pretty much every point of the car.
The motor, transmission, coolant and fuel system has been completely flushed and put back to its original working order. Two new fuel pumps and a new fuel filter was installed prior to start up. Yes, the car does run, but the clutch hydraulic system has lost pressure which I am assuming would be caused by a bad slave cylinder, and the buyer should be advised that it needs to be properly looked over to ensure it is road worthy. The soft top does not leak, but because it has been outside for many years it has seeped moisture inside and the carpet now needs to be completely vacuumed and steam cleaned. The dash and other accessories are in perfect "like new" condition and the car is equipped with a special edition steering wheel. I do have a hard top that we had bought at one point that IS NOT included but will sell for $500. The soft top frame needs a little work as its hard to move up and down. The overall condition can be seen by my pictures, but if you need any more please let me know. It was once a fun, great running car, I remember driving in it as a little kid. With only 46, 400 original miles this Alpha defiantly still has a chance to be a fully restored and put back on the road. This is being sold as is and all shipping costs will be paid by the buyer. I will help on my end to ensure safe delivery. Shipping costs are estimated to be anywhere from $500-800 if you are in the United States. I will work with the buyer to arrange shipping carriers or local pickup. If you have any other questions or concerns please don't hesitate to message me. |

Alfa Romeo abandoned the Spider to focus on crossovers
Wed, Sep 7 2016As much as enthusiasts like to forget or deny it, automakers are in the business of making money, and sometimes that means doing things that seem counter to a brand's image or history. Alfa Romeo, for example, is attempting to make a comeback in the US. The make has a long history of making sporty vehicles, so news that Alfa has ceased plans on some new cars in order to focus on crossovers should be disappointing, but far from surprising. The new Fiat 124 Spider, based on and build alongside the Mazda Miata, was originally supposed to be a new Alfa Romeo Spider. A while back, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne has said that as long as he's in charge, Alfas will be built in Italy. That seemed to be reasoning enough for the new car's switch to Fiat, but Automotive News is reporting that the company actually abandoned the new Spider in order to build SUVs. The Spider isn't the only vehicle that appears to be off the table. While the new BMW 3 Series-sized Giulia is set to hit dealers later this year, larger sedans meant to compete against the 5 Series and 6 Series have been axed. Alfa's first crossover, the Stelvio, is expected to debut later this year. The company has plans for a Giulia-based crossover as well. A lot of this seems counter to Alfa and FCA's five-year plan that was announced fewer than three years ago. Then, the 400,000 annual sales target worldwide by 2018 powered by Italian-designed and -built engines. In actuality, the company has struggled to get even the Giulia to market, delaying everything else in its wake. Related Video:
Lightly-camouflaged Alfa Romeo Stelvio snapped testing
Mon, Oct 24 2016With the Alfa Romeo Stelvio's expected reveal date at the Los Angeles Auto Show quickly approaching, we're not surprised to see prototypes testing in broad daylight with less and less camouflage. But even these latest spy shots make it difficult to determine details about the upcoming SUV. Just like before the headlights are disguised by heavy tape, but appear to be nearly identical to the ones found on the Giulia sedan. There's also a small v-shaped grille at the front with two rectangular ones on the bottom of the front fascia. The hood has three oddly-shaped ridges, but those are probably more camo to disguise actual creases. Previous SUVs were spotted with much smaller ruffles on the hood. The overall profile of the prototype remains the same as the ones we've spotted earlier with a design that mimics the Porsche Macan. The bulbous rear end of the SUV hasn't changed much either. The familiar taillights are still taped off, but appear to be taken straight from the Giulia. The massive exhaust tips, though, are new and would be more at home on a sports car. With the Stelvio expected to get the same gasoline and diesel powertrains as the Giulia, the weapon-sized exhaust tips on the prototype hint towards the possibility of the SUV getting the 2.9-liter V6 from the Giulia Quadrifoglio. Alfa Romeo's first EV reportedly due out in 2024 as small crossover
Tue, Apr 11 2023The first series-produced electric Alfa Romeo model will allegedly make its debut in 2024. Official details aren't available, but a recent report claims that the EV will take the form of a small, entry-level crossover that will be closely related to the Jeep Avenger under the sheetmetal. Don't be alarmed if the nameplate "Avenger" doesn't ring a bell, or if you associate it with a series of Dodge models built from the 1990s to the 2010s. Across the pond, the emblem denotes a hatchback-like, city-friendly front-wheel-drive Jeep built on a platform that underpins several cars in the Stellantis portfolio. It's on these bones that Alfa Romeo will build its first EV, according to British magazine Autocar. The soft-roader could be called Brennero, a name borrowed from a mountain pass in Italy, and the publication wrote that current and past models will influence its design; the report notably cited the original Giulietta released in 1954 as a source of inspiration. Time will tell if that's accurate, and how designers will transfer 70-year-old styling cues onto a mass-produced crossover developed for young, urban buyers. On the electric side of the lineup, the model will share powertrain parts with its Jeep-badged sibling. For context, the subcompact Avenger (which stretches approximately 161 inches long and 60 inches tall) ships with a single, front-mounted electric motor that zaps the front wheels with 154 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. Electricity is stored in a 54-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack, and Jeep quotes a 250-mile driving range when tested on the WLTP cycle used in Europe (the EPA-estimated figure would likely be lower). Like the Avenger, the Brennero will be offered with a gasoline-powered engine in some markets. Again using a Jeep as a reference point, the piston-powered option is a turbocharged, 1.2-liter three-cylinder shared with the Peugeot 208, among others, and rated at 154 horsepower. If the report is accurate, the Alfa Romeo Brennero will land in showrooms in June 2024. Our crystal ball tells us that it won't be sold in the United States due in part to its small size; Jeep doesn't sell the Avenger here, after all. American drivers who want to put an electric Alfa Romeo crossover in their driveway will need to wait until the rumored second-generation Stelvio makes its debut at some point in 2026.
