Here’s a nice Alfa Spider Veloce Convertible we’ve acquired and can now offer our great Ebay customers.  I’m always on the lookout for lower-milege, unusual vehicles and really hit the mark with this one!  It was purchased new here locally at Alfa of Tacoma in November, 1981 and has remained in the Puget Sound area since.  There is NO history of any accidents, title brands for salvage, flood damage, rebuild or any other nasty negatives to cause concern.  Please contact me with any questions or to make an offer before the auction ends.  My direct phone number is 206/914-1173 and my name is Mark Thompson.  You’re welcome and encouraged to make an appointment during business hours to inspect this great little roadster.

What a fun car!  Climb over, under and throughout and I know you’ll come up smiling!  Rust?  Please, this Spider hates rust!  Yes, the Puget Sound area is famous for rain, but our winter roads are never salted.  We only have one or two days of light snow each year.  Everyone panics and stays home. Besides, I know for a fact this Alfa hasn’t seen a winter road in over 11 years.  As you see in my photos the odometer reads just 134,413 original miles.

I’ll be sure to include all the original factory books and complete, detailed service records with the title.  From those records the following is some of the major work that’s been done and parts replaced.  These receipts begin in August, 1989 and run through this month, exceeding $10,200 in total.  Just some of them include:

Clutch replacement at 69,700 miles, catalytic converter at 78K,

Brake Booster replaced at 86,400 Miles, fuel injection pump at 103K, the Cylinder Head completely rebuilt at 110,200 miles, New water pump, Fuel lines & Pinion seal at 117,400 miles, New suspension springs at 124,750 miles, another catalytic converter at 128,300 miles

The starter motor was replaced at 133,365.  Both the in-tank primer pump and main fuel pump were replaced and the gas tank flushed & sealed at 134,400 miles this past month.  Major service (totaling $1,133) done within the last 50 miles.

Because I’m always asked, “Veloce” designates the middle of the model line for the Alfa Spider.  The base model is the Spartan “Graduate” with vinyl seats and no extras (the “Veloce” has nicer leather seats).  Top-of-the-line is the “Quadrifoglio” with the green four leaf clover insignia.

CONDITION:

Overall, this is a clean, nonsmoker roadster.  I take great pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as much about the car as possible.  Here’s a brief description of how I find the car:

Hop in, fire her up and the 2000cc 4-cylinder injected engine starts almost instantly, even when cold, with just a little feathering of the manual choke.  I took the car out a few days ago for these photos and cruised at 60 MPH for about twenty miles.  What a difference having that fifth transmission gear makes - no grinding into second gear as you’ll find on many Alfas.!  Nice, strong clutch too!  A black fabric convertible top is fitted and is in good shape however the top bow just above the rear window has come unriveted and needs to be re-installed.  A black steel rollbar has also been fitted for safety.  There is no noticeable body rust, just a few bubbles along the bottom edge that have been there for some years.  All the glass is in great shape.  The factory color red paint is clear and bright, still holding quite a shine!  The 14” factory Campagnolo wheels are all straight and true, and the four Dunlop N60 radials appear to be at least 70%.   Take another good look at my interior photos.  The black leather upholstery is in excellent condition.  I find no cracks or wear-through spots in the leather.  I’m sure the carpets are original as well and are still very clean, having always been protected with factory mats that I’ll be sure to include.   NO cracks to the dashtop at all!  As pictured, both door panels are great with no rips, tears or scuff points.  Both electric windows function as they should.  I want you to BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a nice car, however, please don’t be upset if I miss a few minor flaws or you are required to spend money on an unforeseen problem!  No used car is ever perfect.  I want you to be happy with your purchase (and with me) and that really is my main goal!

As outlined above, please contact me with any questions.  My direct phone number is 206/914-1173 and my name is Mark Thompson.  You’re welcome and encouraged to make an appointment to stop by and inspect, drive and make an offer.  If you’re thinking of bidding on a comparable MG or Triumph of similar vintage, you really owe it to yourself to look over this car first!

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:

Please check the photos over closely and call with any questions BEFORE you place a bid!  You’re encouraged to inspect the vehicle at our premises on weekdays, so send your representative early to be sure you don't miss this one. We reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback.  DEALERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO BID AS WELL!  Additionally I reserve the right to end the auction early if the Alfa is no longer for sale because we’ve

We’re always very happy to work with any shipper you choose, but you’re also welcome to do what many of our past buyers from as far away as Alaska, Arizona, the Midwest, Canada, Florida, New York and even the Mexican Baja have done – fly in here to Seattle (we’ll pick you up at Sea-Tac International just a few miles away) and then start a road trip home the same day!  I wouldn’t hesitate to drive long-distance in this Benz!  As a respected Ebay seller with many, many satisfied online buyers, I want you to bid with confidence knowing that the Mercedes runs and drives out as it should AND that it is being properly represented to you!  Please don’t be upset if I miss a minor flaw or some small issue comes up on the car.  NO used vehicle is ever perfect.  Having said that, I won’t hesitate to drive cross-country in it today!

Please check the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid!  You’re encouraged to stop by, inspect the Mercedes and take it for a test drive as it is being sold as-is, where-is with a free & clear Washington State title.  There are NO title brands for any nasty negatives like salvage/rebuild history, theft or flood damage to cause you concern!  Because of the amount of money involved with a vehicle purchase, I reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback.  I also ask that potential bidders with a feedback rating of five or fewer transactions on Ebay contact me before placing their bid.  Please feel free to contact me directly thru Ebay’s system or, as outlined above, call me at 206/914-1173 anytime.  My name is MARK THOMPSON.

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:

A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s end.  We can accept PAYPAL, but only for the deposit amount because of the high fees they charge.  The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me.   Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract!  You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.

If you do decide to have the car shipped home, there are numerous vehicle transport companies to choose from.  We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest that you get a transport bid from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS).  They're Ebay’s preferred transporter and will give you a fair quote.  Call my designated rep, Janice, directly at (469)587-5096.  Give her my affiliate number (2362642) and she can pull up all our information for door-to-door or even station-to-station prices.

As an alternative, you might also get bids from the U-Ship.com website you’ll be able to choose a transport broker from multiple offers.  The zip code for pick-up would be 98002 (Auburn, Washington).  The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER.

Ram, Jeep redesigns on hold, Alfa Romeo models may come sooner

Wed, Jun 3 2015

Last summer, FCA outlined an ambitious five-year plan that sketched out the company's product intentions for each of its brands through the end of 2018. However, even the best strategies sometimes need tweaking. According to Reuters after speaking with unnamed people at auto suppliers, FCA is now possibly delaying at least a dozen projects in North America for a variety of reasons. From vehicle to vehicle, these postponements allegedly last anywhere from just a few months to over a year. The sources from the suppliers claim that in some cases these tweaks are for engineering and design changes. The next-gen Ram 1500 reportedly has among the shorter delays and is being pushed from mid-2017 to November 2017, according to Reuters. Also, the much-discussed future Jeep Wrangler is allegedly moving a little later to July 2017. Among the vehicles purportedly seeing longer delays, the next-gen Grand Cherokee could get pushed back about a year to 2018. That then forces the launch of the three-row, luxury Grand Wagoneer to be even further away. Jeep's upcoming C-segment CUV and the all-new Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Challenger might also see postponements. The one brand allegedly seeing an accelerated plan is Alfa Romeo. Without going into detail, the sources from these suppliers claim that the Italian automaker is getting even more vehicles for its lineup and could get them even faster than planned. "Those plans need to be flexible and fluid, with the potential to add some vehicles, pull some forward and extend the life cycle of others," FCA said to Reuters about all of these allegations. "We look at these programs on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis." Investment in the auto industry has been a major topic for FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne as of late. He believes consolidation is necessary so that companies aren't burning money on the same projects. Alfa Romeo Giulia, Stelvio to get special editions, one more refresh

Thu, Apr 14 2022

Alfa Romeo has made its plans perfectly clear. It’s going EV, and that means that the Giulia and Stelvio as they exist today with powerful gasoline engines will eventually cease to exist. However, weÂ’re still a few years away from that electric future, so Alfa has a little time to play its current models out with style. We asked senior VP of Alfa Romeo Larry Dominique what we should expect from Giulia and Stelvio in between now and the switch to electric, and he was happy to give us a glimpse at whatÂ’s ahead. “So what weÂ’ve done is develop these buzz models,” Dominique tells us. “The first one is the Estrema, which weÂ’ve already announced and weÂ’re launching it with 2023 production in May. This fall, weÂ’re going to start talking about other things like a Lusso Edition and Competizione Edition and things like that.” WeÂ’ve already heard about the Estrema, but the Lusso Edition and Competizione Edition are both new. The Lusso, if Alfa remains consistent, will likely be a luxury-centered version of the Giulia and Stelvio. ItÂ’s the Competizione that has our attention. Similar to the Estrema, this model sounds like it would be directed toward enthusiasts and feature some performance upgrades. “So weÂ’re going to look at these different components, different parts, QV parts on a Veloce and things like that,” Dominique said. “Unique color combinations and unique colors.” Adding QV (Quadrifoglio) parts to non-Quadrifoglio models is a similarly enticing proposition. We can hope that it comes to pass, because this would result in some rather aggressive-looking Giulias and Stelvios that donÂ’t come with a Quadrifoglio price. Looking into the somewhat more distant future, Dominique says that the current generation Giulia and Stelvio will get one final refresh for the 2024 model year.  “In 2024 model year, weÂ’re going to have a final minor change for Stelvio and Giulia,” Dominique continued. “So youÂ’re going to see some changes visually inside and outside, associated with that. And weÂ’ll continue with the buzz model strategy, even though we have the 2024 change coming at the same time.” If youÂ’re a Giulia or Stelvio fan (as we tend to be), this final refresh car is bound to be a desirable one. Instead of dwindling away without any attention, Alfa is singing its gas-powered Giulia and Stelvio out with a little love before theyÂ’re officially put out to pasture in favor of electric models.

Marchionne says no offers are on the table for Fiat Chrysler

Sun, Sep 3 2017

MONZA, Italy (Reuters) - Fiat Chrysler (FCA) has not received any offer for the company nor is the world's seventh-largest carmaker working on any "big deal", Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne said on Saturday. Speaking on the sidelines of the Italian Formula One Grand Prix, Marchionne said the focus remained on executing the company's business plan to 2018. Asked whether FCA had been approached by someone or whether there was an offer on the table, he simply said: "No." The company's share price jumped to record highs last month after reports of interest for the group or some of its brands from China. China's Great Wall Motor Co Ltd openly said it was interested in FCA, but had not held talks or signed a deal with executives at the Italian-American automaker. The stock move was also helped by expectations that the company might separate from some of its units. Marchionne reiterated on Saturday that FCA was working on a plan to "purify" its portfolio and that units, such as the components businesses, would be separated from the group. He hopes to complete that process by the end of 2018. "There are activities within the group that do not belong to a car manufacturer, for example the components businesses. The group needs to be cleared of those things," he told journalists. Asked whether an announcement could come this year, Marchionne said it was up to the board to decide and that it would next meet at the end of September. He said the time was not right for a spin-off of luxury brand Maserati and premium Alfa Romeo and the two brands needed to become self-sustainable entities first and "have the muscle to stand on their feet, make sufficient cash". "The way we see it now, it's almost impossible, if not impossible, to see a spin-off of Alfa Romeo/Maserati, these are two entities that are immature and in a development phase," he said. "It's the wrong moment, we are not in a condition to do it." He said the concept of separating the two brands from FCA's mass market business made sense and did not rule out this happening in future, but not under his tenure, which lasts until April 2019. "If there is an opportunity in future, it would certainly happen after I'm gone. It won't happen while Marchionne is around," he said.
