I am reluctantly offering my "Super" up for sale. With 2 Giulia sedans in the stable and not using either one of them, it's time to find a new home for this very rare Alfa. I purchased it from an Alfisti that was living overseas. It was imported into the US from Belgium in 2005 and has seen very little use since then. It is fitted with the original 1600 engine with the factory dual solex carbs. 5 Speed transmission. This is the later style with "hanging pedals". The "Biscione" edition makes this Super quite rare in the States. Color: AR343 - Blu Olandese with Tan Interior Clear "Michigan" Title 50,000 Kilometers on odometer - actual mileage is unknown. I will be adding more pictures within the next few days. I have owned the Super for the past few years and have used it sporadically over that time period. With too many Alfa's and not enough time to drive them, it has been sitting in the garage along with my other Alfa's as well as another Giulia Super. I am in the midst of 2 Alfa restorations right now, and really need to free up some space. I really don't want to part with it, but realistically it will not be used or enjoyed the way it should be. With that said, I am hoping to find a good "Alfa" home for this very rare sedan. I would consider it "daily driver" type Alfa with plenty of patina, so you don't need to worry about using it. It's ultra reliable and always starts up. "Biscione" means "Snake" in Italian. The trim differences between a standard Super and the Biscione are as follows: 1. Recessed "Alfa Romeo" badge on the trunk. 2. Chrome center strip on hood. 3. "Biscione" badges on "C" Pillars 4. Chrome trim on rocker panels 5. First part of the headliner under visors are "black" 6. Chrome surroundings on interior light switch. This example is completely stock down to the original factory shift knob. Mechanically, the Alfa runs very nicely. Starts easily and is completely stock. As the pictures show, the engine compartment is very tidy and looks factory correct. There are no charging issues. No excess oil burning. Has plenty of power on the freeway and pulls nicely in each gear considering it's a 1600. Clutch and transmission work fine with no syncro issues that I can recall. As stated, this is a "hanging pedal" car with a hydraulic clutch. Much more modern and easy to use as compared to floor pedals in my opinion. U joints and driveshaft donut was fixed shortly after I purchased it. Exhaust is fine. Tires are all in good condition on original steel wheels & correct hubcaps. Known issues: at some point the ignition switch was bypassed due to a broken key, so now it just requires the pull of a switch (under the dash) and the push of a button to start it. I purchased a correct replacement switch, but frankly found it more convenient to use it the way it is. The replacement switch will be included in the sale. Transmission leaks oil. Some excess free play in the steering. Needs new toggle switch for the wipers. Has factory "Euro" headlights and also rear "fog" light. Brakes work fine as well as the electrics. Has new heater valve and fresh oil change. The interior is in very nice original condition as shown in the pictures. Considering it's over 40 years old, I would say it's almost mint except for the tear in the driver's seat. The dash is in great shape with a factory radio "block off " plate. Obviously features "Euro" gauges with speedometer in Kilometers per hour. Center console is very nice as well. Passenger seat and rear seat are in great condition. Door panels near perfect. All windows operate correctly as well as the interior door handles. Driver's seat fitted with Sheepskin seat cover due to rip in the seat. The body has an older repaint in it's original AR 343 Blu Olandese at some point while it was still over in Europe. It has held up pretty good and has the normal "wear" one would expect from a vintage unrestored Alfa. It has some nice patina and presents itself nicely as a "driver". As shown in the pictures, the passenger side shows some evidence of previous body work. There are some misc. spots where the paint has flaked off including under the front bumper. It does have some of the typical rust that Supers are noted for. These spots are limited to the following areas: both rear wheel arches, passenger side rear quarter panel (worst spot) and the lip of the hood. Floors and rockers are solid as well as the area under the radiator support. Trunk lid in nice condition with no rust issues. Both front and rear bumpers are in nice condition. In summary, this is essentially an all original unrestored Giulia Super. Far from perfect, but could be a great daily driver for the Alfisti that is looking for something a little bit different. Ultra reliable, I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. These sedans are a blast to drive, and will always get a "thumbs up" from fellow car enthusiasts! For those that have been priced out of the market and cannot afford to pay the high teens for a "Super", this may be the perfect alternative. The Alfa is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. I cannot be held responsible for any errors or inaccuracies that may have been inadvertently been provided. Will need some general work/maintenance as noted in the description. The buyer should expect other normal wear and tear items to be addressed as would be expected of a 40 year old vintage sports sedan. Sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. I have done my best to describe the Alfa to the best of my ability, however there may be some things that I may have missed. It is up to the buyer to do due diligence when making a purchase online. On Apr-12-14 at 21:09:14 PDT, seller added the following information: I just took the Super out of storage this weekend to take some additional photos which have been added to listing. These photos highlight some of the noted rust areas on the quarter panel and lip on the hood. Additionally, I found 2 small bubbles near the gutter trim and a few other misc.rust spots which I had not noted since it's been primarily covered and stored. I also forgot to mention that there is a stone chip in the windshield on the driver's side. Lastly, I will be adding more pictures that shows the undercarriage. On Apr-14-14 at 15:34:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I had a chance to take the Super around the block yesterday. It fired up nicely and ran smoothly. When pulling up to my driveway I could hear a clunk in the right front which sounds like a lower ball joint or possibly sway bar bushing. 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is the priciest Alfa you can buy
Thu, Feb 15 2018Alfa Romeo has finally announced pricing for its Stelvio Quadrifoglio high-performance crossover, and it's not cheap. The base price is $81,590, which makes it the most expensive car in the Alfa lineup. The next most expensive is the Giulia Quadrifoglio at $75,295. That's a difference of roughly $6,000. And you can make the Stelvio even more expensive by optioning in Sparco carbon fiber shell racing seats or carbon ceramic brakes. Alfa hasn't revealed pricing for those, but expect the brakes to cost the same $8,000 that they do on the Giulia Quadrifoglio. You do get a lot of car for the money, though. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio gets the same twin-turbocharged, Ferrari-built V6 as its Giulia counterpart, still making 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. That will take the car to 60 mph from a standstill in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 177 mph. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio is also the current SUV lap time record holder at the Nurburgring. If the price seems acceptable to you, you'll be able to pick one up early this year. The relaunch of the Alfa Romeo franchise by FCA, while promising, is without the presence of Alfa's lovely Spider convertible. There is, of course, the mid-engine 4C Spider, but that's far more exotic and expensive. If you're looking for the charm of the original, at a more affordable price, you'll need to go back 20-plus years, when Alfa was last in America. What began as the boat-tailed Duetto in 1966, and evolved into the Kammback-profiled Spider around 1970, stayed in production with minimal changes through 1993. In 1983, U.S. bumper regulations began taking their visual toll, but that mod was minimized by the time this for-sale example was built. You won't find roadsters for under $15,000 with the charms of an Alfa Romeo. If it has a clean Carfax and credible pre-purchase inspection, this Spider could provide years of enjoyment. We doubt a '91 Spider will appreciate, but you can, well, still appreciate it. And it's in San Francisco, so make its purchase a vacation.
