This is a beautiful late 1973 Spider. It is in excellent condition. Drives like a dream. Transmission is smooth with no grinding in any gear. Handles great with plenty of power. It was completely repainted several years ago and still looks great. Upgrades include HEAD LIGHT COVERS, like new. Koni shocks on all four corners and.....WEBER CARBURETORS. 5 spoke alloy wheels. The seller is in need of a more user friendly car with power steering and an air bag, so she is looking for a 91 spider. That means someone is going to get one heck of a wonderful 1973 spider.

We are not asking for top dollar, book is $17,500. However the follow things should be addressed.

 1) the top looks great but has three spots that will necessitate replacement of the top. Don't get me wrong, the top will keep the rain out but it has been patched. It looks fine but I need to point out that it is not perfect. A new top installed is around $1,200 for a stafast cloth.

2) there is some torque steer due to weak trailing arm bushings. New bushings will solve that problem. Cost is about $500.

3) the dash has a large crack in the center extending to one of the vents. This car has a cloth cover and looks just fine. A plastic glue on dash cap is available and can be put on by the new owner. It's a do it yourself thing. A new dash would cost around $1,800.

Those repairs would lower the value to $14,000. The reserve is less than $14,000 so bid with confidence, You are going to love this car.

Fiat reconsidering Mazda-based Alfa Romeo roadster? [w/poll]

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Alfa giveth and Alfa taketh away. With apologies to Job (he has gone through a lot, after all), that's how things are looking at the Italian automaker - whether it's the promise of new products or its impending return to the North American market. But it's especially true when it comes to new roadsters.
While Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil the 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show this week, reports are now suggesting that its other roadster project is being called into question. That project is a joint venture between Fiat and Mazda, which was set to produce a version of its next MX-5 Miata as an Alfa Romeo, and was even changing the design to accommodate Alfa's requirements.
Now it appears, however, that the whole project in doubt. The problem seems to stem from Sergio Marchionne's pronouncements that, as long as he's in charge, there won't be an Alfa Romeo built outside of Italy.

Share price falls on skepticism of Chrysler-Fiat five-year plan

Thu, 08 May 2014

Following this week's Fiat Chrysler extravaganza, where the Italian-American manufacturer announced its plans for the next five years, the Autoblog staff was cautiously optimistic of the company's future. Investors? Not so much.
Fiat saw its shares tumble 12 percent in Wednesday's trading, falling from 8.67 euros ($12.06 at today's rates) to 7.44 euros ($10.35) as of this writing, with blame partly going to the Italian half of the FCA marriage, which recorded a pretty significant drop in profits during the first quarter of this year.
The plan, which will cost around $77 billion over the next several years, is facing criticism from investors thanks in part to a 1.4-percent drop in Fiat's first-quarter profits, to 622 million euros ($862 million). That figure is also short of Bloomberg analysts' projections, which predicted $1.18 billion in profits before taxes, interest and one-time items.
