Such was thecase with the Acura NSX. Development began as early as 1984, and when Hondadebuted the car as an Acura model for America in 1990, the automotive pressraved. The company had come up with a winner, and in many comparison tests, itregularly trounced its Porsche 911, Chevy Corvette and Ferrari 348 competition. The Acura NSX is sophisticated in many regards, and technology developed inHonda's Formula One program trickled into the car. Its aluminum 3.0-literV-6 produces 270 hp and features dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. The unit is mounted transversely midship, and balance is impeccable even onthe limit. The car was the first to utilize an all-aluminum monocoque body, andit also features an aluminum suspension, both of which keep weight down. Much ofthe development input came thanks to Honda's ace F1 driver, the late AyrtonSenna. The NSX became Honda's flagship overnight, as well as the mostexpensive Japanese car in America. But it was still a Honda, which meantreliability had been built-in: It is happy to rev at 8,000 rpm all day and thendo it again without much incident. This NSX is a beautiful example. The car waspurchased new in California by its first owner who enjoyed and owned it for 16years (45,284 miles). The second owner purchased the NSX and brought it toColumbus Ohio, where it saw only about 2000 miles in 7 years. It has a cleanCarFax that shows the car's history. The body/paint are in wonderfuloriginal condition (see photos). The interior is also in excellent condition. When you look over and drive the NSX, it's easy to see that its twoowners maintained and care

2015 Acura NSX burns to the ground at the 'Ring [w/video]
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Assuming all goes to plan, automakers test their vehicles to the breaking point in the months and years leading up to that vehicle's actual release into the public. Which is good, because it's much better for a car to break in glorious fashion in the hands of the company that produces it than in the driveway of an owner who just spent their hard-earned cash to get it.
Such was the case with this production-guise Acura NSX prototype that we saw running around the Nürburgring just the other day. We can't be 100-percent certain, but the burned-out carcass is wearing the same number plate as the car that was spotted earlier, so it's likely the very same NSX. We have no idea what was the cause of the blaze that turned this Acura into the car-b-q you see pictured above, but our spy shooters on the ground in Germany say it was not involved in any collision, having caught on fire all on its own with engineers behind the wheel.
The good news is that nobody was hurt, though the car is quite clearly a complete loss. We're sure there's another ready to to test in the burned car's place... just as soon as the engineers at Honda figure out exactly what went wrong. Have a look at the smoldering aftermath up above, and feel free to scroll down below to see a video of the car in much better circumstances.
2017 Acura NSX | 573 horsepower for lunch
Fri, Aug 18 2017Our Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is in California for Monterey Car Week and the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, rubbing elbows with beautiful people and their far-more-beautiful cars. Greg took a 2017 Acura NSX down the Monterey Peninsula to grab lunch yesterday and posted live video on Facebook. We thought we'd share it here. We've driven the modern NSX before, of course, and it's terrific. For greater detail, check out our review from 2015. The video is in two parts, as Greg lost service at one point. Ah, technology. We'll be ordering lunch ourselves soon. Wish we could order California sunshine and an NSX to go. Acura slaps $20,000 discount on 2019 NSX in an effort to sell more supercars
Thu, May 16 2019The new Acura NSX has struggled to move off dealer lots as of late, and Acura isn't being coy about adding incentives to its supercar. Motor Trend spotted an under-the-radar $20,000 discount, which is a substantial price slash on a car that starts at $159,300. This incentive isn't actually listed or advertised anywhere on Acura's website, but Motor Trend's Intellichoice affiliate (ownership cost and value analysis site) managed to uncover the discount. If you bought a completely base NSX, the price could be as low as $139,300 now. That's before you do any other negotiations with your dealer to lower the price further. The discount only applies to 2019 model year cars, which is actually a great thing. Acura made a bunch of small, important changes to the refreshed NSX for 2019 you can read about here. It's a better car than before, and now it's significantly cheaper than last year's model, as well. That makes the supercar a veritable steal. Acura has reportedly had this discount in effect since mid-March, and sales throughout this year have been improved versus last year 72 NSXs had moved off lots at this time in 2018, whereas 102 have found new owners this year. That may not seem like a whole lot, but even a small uptick in supercar sales is meaningful when you're selling in such low quantities. The 2018 calendar year was the worst year in new NSX sales to date, with only 170 in total finding new homes. In 2017 Acura moved a grand total of 581 NSXs, the car's best year. If you want to actually take advantage of the discount (we envy you) then know it's scheduled to last through March 31, 2020. That's a long time to decide if you want the Japanese supercar. A 992 911 Carrera 4S ($121,660) with a few pricey options will easily be bumping into a base NSX, so your expensive sports car decision just got a little tougher. Related Video:
