Hello car enthusiasts!  Let me start by saying, I love the NSX and I love THIS NSX!  It was my childhood dream car, and I have since been fortunate enough to own 3 of them : )  I strayed along the way, with a classic e30 M3 and a 911 C2, my other two childhood dream cars.  Neither of those cars offered the same reliability, affordability, exotic looks and "visceral" sports car feel- in other words the NSX is my grail!

Fast forward 16 years since my first NSX, it's been a remarkable run for both the NSX and my ownership experience- how many people own the same car (model) for that long?!  That alone speaks volumes...But alas, I'm a relatively old fart now, priorities change, tastes change.  Today I'm a family man;  not the adrenaline-fueled, twenty-something bachelor I once was. I just bought a Grand Cherokee and I have a company car on top- so the the extra cash would be nice.  This is the only reason for this sale.  Now onto the details of this phenomenal car!

HISTORY/ CONDITION:

This NSX has been owned by a technology icon and then 3 anal retentive NSX enthusiasts & club members.  It was first purchased by Steve Wozniak, that's right, Apple co-founder "The Woz"!  I have service records dating back to his ownership, from the original dealership- Los Gatos Acura, CA, the next two owners, to present (I'm the fourth).

This NSX is a reasonably low mileage driver's car.  These cars are meant to be driven, and although it is not daily driven, it is not a garage queen.  It is a used car, it is NOT immaculate, but it is excellent condition.  If you are looking for an all original, rarely driven, flawless garage queen- this is not the NSX for you.  If you want an NSX that you won't hesitate to drive or park;  an example that has been loved, well-maintained, documented, sorted & tastefully modified by enthusiasts- look no further!!!  Sometime during the second ownership, the NSX was in a minor fender bender (side-swiped, no frame damage), affected panels replaced, multi-stage repaint.  The rest of the car was wet-sanded, buffed & clear-coated.  All work done by a reputable shop.  The third owner lived in Boston and during his tenure, both front & rear bumpers had minor damage (did not warrant replacement) from parallel parking in the city- both bumpers have since been repaired & repainted.

As she sits today, there is one paint chip the size of a pencil eraser and there is inevitable curb rash on the front lip spoiler from when I pulled up too close to the curb while parking. You can either remove the spoiler and have it resprayed off the car, or take it to a detail shop that does airbrush touch-ups w/o having to remove spoiler (I've done this before, it's less than a $200 job).  Overall, the paint looks uniform, fresh, wet and new.  There are no dents and I haven't spotted any dings.  Cosmetically, I would rate the exterior 8.9/10.  The interior is very clean and in excellent condition for a car of its age.  There is minor imperfection on the driver's side arm rest trim- just slight wrinkling of the metallic finish near the edge.  There is minor wear at the driver's side seat bolster, but overall condition is above average. I would also rate the interior 8.9/10.  This NSX has been garaged its entire life and it shows.  For all intents & purposes, most admirers think it's a new car- I get thumbs ups, cell phone pics taken, and compliments all day long.  The CARFAX is clean.  I have title in hand.  You will not be disappointed!

MECHANICALS:

First off, everything works EXCEPT the ABS pump recently went out, which is not uncommon for older NSX's.  The only thing the driver will notice is the ABS indicator light will come & stay on while driving. The brakes are otherwise functional under everyday driving/ braking conditions.  Some track drivers will actually delete the ABS system and Dali Racing sells the kit to do so.  I have been comfortable driving it, so I'm leaving it as-is.  My asking price reflects this.  I have maintenance records since day one.

Last fall, all fluids were changed (it's been driven less than 200 miles since):  DOT3 brake flush, oem transmission flush, oem coolant flush, air filter cleaned & BG44 added.  Mobil 1 oil changes.  Emissions & safety inspections current.  The next preventive maintenance procedure will be the timing belt & water pump, which should be done at 90K, she currently has 77.5K on the clock.  This NSX starts right up, drives solid, true, pulls hard, no clutch slippage, no leaks etc...This NSX is not in snap ring range.  She is ready to drive until the 90K service mentioned above.

MODS:

This NSX has tasteful, cosmetic & performance mods.  My goal was to slightly modernized her, while retaining its "old school" roots.  Everything has been installed professionally, with careful attention to detail & retaining a factory OEM appearance.  Buyer will also receive an uninstalled amp & custom NSX specific subwoofer (designed to go into the passenger-side footwell).  The current set-up w/o these components sounds nice.  Frankly, I prefer tuning into the sounds of the wailing VTEC at WOT thru the upgraded performance headers, exhaust, cold air intake behind my ears ; )  It's an exhilarating sound!!! The MODS:

COSMETIC:
- full Wings West aero kit.  Professionally fitted.  Modernizes the lines of the NSX, while retaining an "old school" vibe.  The side skirts have been reinforced, as the polyurethane was prone to "sagging".
- 9006 4300k HID's
- clear side corners
- Honda S2000 fixed antenna
- Sterile center tail light lens (no ACURA sticker)

INTERIOR:

- New OEM NSX floor & trunk mats
- custom adjustable cupholder (in center armrest)
- Billet aluminum shift knob (Science of Speed)
- NSX-R OEM mesh shift boot w. carbon fiber trim plate
- Billet aluminum pedal set- NSX specific (Autovation)

- carbon fiber single DIN surround trim plate
- Alpine single CD head unit, amber lights matches factory lighting
- Pioneer speakers (looks factory)
- amp & custom NSX specific subwoofer included, but not installed
- Viper alarm w. keyless entry & trunk release

PERFORMANCE:

- Dali Racing ss performance headers
- Dali Racing ss parallel canister exhaust
- aftermarket cold air intake (Science of Speed)
- re-useable UNI foam air filter
- NSX-R JDM short ratio gear set
- Dali Racing front & rear anti-sway bars
- Carbing JDM rear strut tower brace

- Dali Racing expanded oil pan

MISC:

- original NSX magnesium key, standard NSX key, 2 keyless fobs
- owner's manual in original leather binder

If you're looking for a clean, complete, well-documented, well-sorted NSX- THIS IS IT!

2021 Acura TLX Long-Term Update | Pleasurable drive, puzzling gremlin

Thu, Sep 9 2021

This was my first long haul behind the wheel of our long-term 2021 Acura TLX, and past experience with the brand (and Honda in general) led me to believe that if I could get past any seat comfort issues, the TLX and I would get along just fine. As it turned out, I had no cause to worry in the first place. The TLX’s seats are comfortable and supportive enough for my typical driving position – and look great in red to boot. Not having to worry about my back screaming at me after a couple solid hours on the highway, I was able to devote my attention elsewhere, and the report is largely positive. To me, the most impressive thing about the TLX is how small it feels from behind the wheel. IÂ’ve had it in my driveway for nearly two months (for various reasons, none of them good; look for more in a future update) and despite driving it rather frequently, I often forget that itÂ’s a midsize. HowÂ’d Acura accomplish that? ItÂ’s all in the feedback. The steering is dialed in pretty much perfectly and lacks the artificial and distant sensation present in AudiÂ’s FWD-based luxury sedans, for example. IÂ’d even put the TLX ahead of BMWÂ’s 2 Series Gran Coupe in this department. Sure, theyÂ’re very different vehicles, but that Acura can accomplish this with something as large as the TLX while even BMWÂ’s compacts disappoint? Well, it says something. And though it may feel small, it isnÂ’t. The TLX more than accommodated enough luggage for two people traveling to a Lake Michigan wedding over a long weekend, and did shuttle duty throughout the festivities without even a peep from rear-seat passengers, apart from commentary about the red leather. ItÂ’s a bit polarizing, IÂ’ll admit, but I think it looks great against the blue exterior. 2021 Acura TLX A-Spec View 51 Photos Over the 500-mile round trip, the TLX averaged just a hair under 30 mpg (against an EPA rating of 29 mpg highway; score one for the numbers geeks) at cruising speeds of 75-80. Michigan highways arenÂ’t known for top-notch surfaces, but even on the grooved pavement found on many of its interstates and other rural expressways, tire hum never became intrusive. Present? Sure, just not unpleasantly so. My gripes are few. I wish the cruise control would be a bit more aggressive in accelerating to a set speed when resumed, for one; it seems downright lazy under certain conditions. I could also do entirely without the silly touchpad-like infotainment interface.

Acura considering Vezel-based compact crossover

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

There's a distinct benefit to automakers having their own premium brand. After all, why develop one vehicle to be sold under one nameplate if you can turn it into two? Especially if a little reconfiguration and some premium accoutrements allow said automaker to charge significantly more for the luxury version. It's a winning formula - for crossovers especially - that Toyota has used to turn the Highlander into the Lexus RX (even if the first-gen RX arrived before the original Highlander), that Ford has used to transform the Edgee into the Lincoln MKX and that General Motors has applied to the Chevrolet Suburban to turn it into the Cadillac Escalade (to name just a few of the many examples out there). And it's one to which Honda and its Acura division are certainly not unaccustomed.
Acura has adapted its Euro-spec Honda Accord into the TSX, the Civic into the ILX, the CR-V into the RDX and the Pilot into the MDX. And now that the Honda Vezel is coming to market, Acura reportedly has its eye on that as well. The idea was first introduced when Acura unveiled the SUV-X concept (shown above) at the Shanghai Motor Show this past April, just a few months after Honda revealed its Urban SUV concept that previewed the production Vezel. At the time, says Automotive News, Acura said it intended to put the concept into production in China for the Chinese market, and it's reportedly moving ahead with those plans. But now that it is, executives are wondering where else they might find buyers for the premium compact crossover.
With the Vezel soon to begin production alongside the Fit at Honda's new plant in Mexico, it wouldn't be a stretch to see the Acura version follow suit. The market does, after all, seem to be heating up with entries like the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA, and we couldn't blame Honda - pardon us, Acura - for wanting a slice of that pie.
