Vehicle Information

For sale is my 1997 Acura Integra RS with a stock engine and transmission. This vehicle DOES NOT RUN. All payments are final. The vehicle is being sold  as is. The tachometer is in Kilometers and the gauge says 327190 KM which works out to be 202306 miles. The condition of the vehicle has NOT been diagnosed by an automotive professional however my best guess, and novice opinion, is that the timing belt broke. This may have been due to a missing chip in the harmonic balancer pulley, (crank shaft pulley), which caused the timing belt to give out. No parts have been removed from the vehicle. All lights work, all of the gauges work, the radio and all speakers work (just needed a new antenna), the transmission was in good condition as far as I could tell, HOWEVER, this may have changed based off of the condition of the engine.

There is a large dent in the hood/bumper on the passenger side which is starting to rust where the paint cracked. There is additional rust on each rear rocker panels just forwards of the rear wheals. There is a dent on the driver side door. and the paint on the rear bumper has started to peal and chip.

The interior is in relatively good condition given the car age and miles. Since this was one of the last remaining positive features of the vehicle, I tried to keep it clean and in good condition. The majority of the interior is black, with dark cloth seats. The car has been modified slightly, it has Eibach lowering springs, a cold air intake with an Amsoil air filter and a Magna Flow catalytic converter.

The car may be best used for parts, or with a new engine, it may run again. I MUST state that I do NOT know the full extent of the condition or damages to the engine, transmission, or ANY other part of the car. I strongly encourage you to ask as many questions as possible, and I will do my best to answer them correctly, however I must state again that I am NOT an automotive professional.

Please e-mail me with any questions! Serious bidders and questions only! If serious about purchasing the vehicle, I can provide you with my phone number to discuss any details.

NO negotiations or haggling will be allowed after auction close. All sales are final!

Payment and Pick Up Details:

I will only accept PayPal, and cashiers checks or money orders as a payment method. Upon Purchase of the vehicle, a deposit of $450.00 dollars must be made through PayPal within 48 hours of auction close; If there is a remaining balance, it will be paid via cashiers check or money order at the time of pick up. Pickup of the vehicle must be arranged for no later than 7 days of auction close (preferably a weekend, or late evening). All sales are final! No refunds will be offered for any reason- the vehicle comes as is.

The car will have to be towed off of the property at the buyers expense, (vehicle resides at a residential address). To get a more accurate towing quote, you may use Mundelein High School as a destination, (actual towing cost may be different from that which was quoted, buyer is responsible for all costs, even if greater than what was quoted). I will need the name and best contact phone number for the towing company that you choose in order to verify pick up. The Mundelein Police Department will also be notified of the final transaction for security purposes.

Honda's Acura NSX masterstroke: building the factory in Ohio

Tue, Apr 12 2016

When Honda announced it was going to build its NSX supercar in Ohio instead of Japan, it caught everybody in the industry by surprise. No one expected this proud Japanese company to build its most technologically advanced sports car anywhere but in its home country. Now Honda has a supercar production facility in rural Ohio that would be the envy of any Formula One team. The people at Honda call it the PMC, but its official name is the Performance Manufacturing Center. It's a building that started out as a shipping facility for suppliers, but Honda invested $70 million to transform it into a showcase facility that will build the NSX. Honda benchmarked the assembly operations at Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Bentley before work began on its facility. The 200,000 square-foot building will also double as a customer reception center – Honda will open the doors for customers to come see their car being built. It's also going to offer them high-speed test drives at the gigantic Transportation Research Center just down the road. No one expected this proud Japanese company to build its most technologically advanced sports car anywhere but in its home country. Inside, the layout is wide open and well lit. There are no stripes or lines on the floor and none of the different departments are walled off. This creates a more welcoming appearance and lets you get a comprehensive view of the entire process at a glance. And with an eye towards future lessons learned, most of the equipment is of a modular design that can be easily reconfigured or moved. The body shop and paint shop are enclosed by glass walls so that anyone can see what's going on inside. And while you'll see some automation here and there, the idea was to achieve a blend between man and machine, not to try and automate everything. This is a low-volume facility with production targeted at only eight to ten cars a day. The plant runs four days a week with one ten-hour shift. Don't expect to see rows of new NSXs parked on any dealer's lot. The car will only be built to order. Honda is obsessed with ensuring the NSX is built to the most exacting quality standards. The plant people pored over the JD Power Appeal study to determine what supercar customers care about the most, then looked at which aspects of that directly tie into manufacturing. They developed their quality control strategy with three goals in mind. First, they wanted to build everything right the first time with no adjustments.

Watch an Acura NSX prototype lap the track at Mid-Ohio

Sun, 04 Aug 2013

As promised, Acura trotted its NSX prototype out to the mass of waiting fans ahead of today's Honda Indy 200 IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio. The hybrid supercar took to the track for a fast lap, and Acura was kind enough to attach a score of cameras to the car in order to share the event with the rest of the world.
The blue-wrapped NSX looks pretty darn good on a race track, if we do say so ourselves, and its V6 engine, coupled with its three electric motors and lithium-ion battery pack, sounds awfully sweet at full song. The automaker is promising to release its new NSX in 2015, which is still quite a ways away, so we don't expect this exhibition lap to be the last time we see a prototype in action ahead of a production debut.
Want to see the video? Of course you do. Scroll down to see the NSX take to the track like a fish takes to water.

Junkyard Gem: 1996 Acura 3.5 RL, Rocky Mountain Rambler 500 Edition

Sun, Oct 11 2020

Honda had a good sales run with the Acura Legend, the first of the luxury-marque spinoffs from well-known Japanese carmakers to appear on our shores, but times change and the RL replaced the Legend as Acura's flagship starting in the 1996 model year. Here's one of those first-year RLs, found in a Denver boneyard covered in decorations from the Rocky Mountain Rambler 500 road rally. The Rocky Mountain Rambler 500 involves a lot of punitive off-road driving, so cars that have no business on the dirt seem to get coolness points. That makes Honda's most expensive vehicle of 24 years ago a fine choice of ride. I can't determine how well this car did, but the drivers looked optimistic during the inspections last month. Since the ignition key is still in the switch, I'm assuming it wasn't running so well after the rally and the team decided to bid farewell to their Acura in the lowest-hassle way possible: sell it to the nearest U-Pull-&-Pay. The team appears to have gone for a Pirates of the Caribbean theme with their big land yacht. The evil-looking wheel covers looked sharp. However, the Lord Humungus-grade roof spikes really make this car stand out, both on the rally and, now, in the junkyard. It seemed very clean, with the original owner's manual still in the glovebox. The MSRP on this car came to $41,000 in 1996, which amounts to about $69,000 in 2020 dollars. A new Lexus LS 400 cost $52,900 that year, though the $45,700 Lexus GS 300 was more likely to have battled for the money of potential 3.5 RL buyers. The 1996 Infiniti Q45 went for $53,520, while the J30 cost $39,920. The 1996 BMW 530i had a $42,750 price tag, but your Mitsubishi dealer had $25,525 Diamantes that year. Built on the idea that luxury doesn't have to be boring. Take that, Lexus!
