An extremely rare classic Black 1994 Acura Legend GS (Type II) 6 speed manual 4 door sedan with clean title and no accident.  This is quite possibly the cleanest mint condition low-mileage 6 speed Legend sedan in the world.  State Farm has officially issued a special vintage classic car insurance for this vehicle, it is one of only approximately 400 units ever produced by Acura.  Legend enthusiasts have long treasured the 6 speed Legend 2 door Coupes, but the 6 speed Sedans are ultra rare.  It took me 15 years to find this car, and I have never seen another 6 speed sedan in person.  This car has never been raced or modified, both the exterior and interior are in great condition.  Currently has just 114,410 original miles, it runs smooth and sublime, engine sounds fantastic, clutch is excellent, no wind noise on highway, an incredibly fun car to drive.

I have invested a total of $19,000 on this 6 speed Legend since purchase in 2012, which included cosmetic restorations, up to date maintenance, repairs, sound/video upgrade, and purchase price.  As of now, the car is running perfectly and no major services are due for another 86,000 miles!!! I really thought that I would keep this car forever, but then I happened to lease an electric car for my commute – enjoying the no gas bill and the electric motor torque!  I hope to find another Legend enthusiast who will appreciate all the meticulous work I did for this rare Legend. All service and restoration are documented and all receipts are available for the buyer.  Passed Smog and Registered through Aug 2014.

I am selling it at a fraction of what I paid for.  The car can be viewed in San Rafael or San Francisco during the auction by appointment. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

2016 Acura RDX Review [w/video]

Mon, Aug 3 2015

Acura is deeply confused as a brand. Is it sporty or luxurious? Conservative or avant garde? Truly premium, or just premium for Honda? At its heart, there is a simple truth: despite confused characters, Acura vehicles are usually very competent. The new TLX, for example, is a smart, comfortable, near-premium sedan. The new ILX, meanwhile, is a huge improvement over its predecessor, and finally feels like the entry-level, premium four-door stepping stone Acura needs. Then there's the RDX. Placed in a very hot segment, the Honda CR-V-based crossover never quite caught on. For its first six years on the market, it couldn't even break 25,000 annual sales. The more mainstream redesign in 2013 made some waves, nearly doubling sales, but Acura still fell way behind the competition. In 2014, the Lexus RX outsold the RDX nearly three to one. For 2016, the RDX gets a substantial refresh. The biggest visual update comes from Acura's polarizing, JewelEye LED headlights, which are standard. These aren't the best looking headlights on the market, but the many 'eyes' are better executed on the RDX than any other Acura. The LED daytime running lights round out a nice face during light hours, too. More subtle tweaks are given to the bumpers, with larger intakes in front and bigger reflector housings around back. The seats are broad, flat, and comfortable. The big change in the cabin cannot, sadly, be called an improvement. It's the addition of the Honda/Acura dual-screen system, and while it gives the interior a techy vibe, the user experience is convoluted and unintuitive. The rest of the cabin's design, however, is easy to like. Material quality is adequate for the segment. Plastics are abundant, but are soft to the touch, while fit is impressive and typically Honda throughout. The steering wheel is a parts shelf item and feels just a bit too large for a crossover of this size. The seats are broad, flat, and comfortable, and backseat passengers are treated quite well. Even with the driver's seat set for your six-foot, one-inch author, there's plenty of space in back, especially for long-legged folks. Small changes are found under the RDX's hood, where the 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 gains six horsepower and one pound-foot of torque. Small changes are found under the RDX's hood, where the 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 gains six horsepower and one pound-foot of torque. What hasn't changed, however, is this engine's general character.

Acura ILX headed for Civic-like early upgrades

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

The not-yet-ready-for-primetime 2012 Honda Civic saw it quickly returned to sender for refurbishment, now the Acura ILX is headed in the same direction in its very first year. Automotive News reports that the small, Civic-based sedan from Honda's luxury brand isn't meeting sales expectations, with an annualized rate of 22,000 to 24,000 sales instead of the 30,000 the company is after. More telling is that the ILX "is being outsold by the Buick Verano, Volkswagen CC and Audi A4," and, except for two months since it launched, it has also been outdone by the Acura TSX it is meant to replace.
Part of the cause has been the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine: its 150 horsepower to motivate a sedan that can weigh up to 2,970 pounds doesn't offer the kind of performance or value experience that buyers in the segment respond to. Another big issue is that the top-level 2.4-liter engine is only offered with a six-speed manual even though most buyers of the highest trim don't really want to shift their own gears. Lastly, the ILX might not put enough space between it and its frugal underpinnings - our first drive review pegged it as "the world's nicest Honda Civic."
An automatic transmission is on the way for the 2.4-liter, but it isn't clear when. And while Honda admits that the 2.0-liter is underpowered and Automotive News says it's on the way out, the company hasn't yet said how that situation will be corrected.
