Savile Grey Metallic with R-Design Offblack Heated Leather; Only 10,350 Miles; One-Owner; All-Wheel Drive (AWD); 7-Passenger Seating; 6-speed Automatic; Warranty; Maintained by Volvo dealer from New; 3.2 liter 240 hp Inline-6; 19-inch Wheels; Tons of Options/Features: Multimedia Package, Premium Sound, Sirius Satellite Radio, iPod, Navigation, Bluetooth, Rear Camera, Climate Package, Heated Seats, Blind Spot System (BLIS); Two Sets of Tires (Winter and All-Season); Nearly $50,000 new; Flawless CarFax; Always Garaged; No Accidents/Paint History.

This Volvo XC90 AWD R-Design was delivered new in August of 2011 at Betten Imports (Volvo dealer) in Grand Rapids, Michigan with 19 miles on the odometer. The original MSRP was $47,825. That same owner has fastidiously cared for the XC90 from new with all required service done at the Volvo dealer, despite the ultra-low miles (three maintenance services since new). The SUV was just fully serviced less than 2000 miles ago at the local Volvo dealer (March of 2013). The navigation software was updated to the latest version at the same time.

This Volvo XC90 AWD features a 3.2-liter inline-six cylinder engine with 240 hp and 7-passenger seating. The 3rd row ingeniously hides and folds flat to reveal impressive cargo space. The Volvo also returns impressive fuel economy, especially considering the performance and interior space (16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway). The all-wheel drive system combined with heated seats, stability control, and Volvo’s legendary safety record make it the perfect year-round SUV. The XC90 is in flawless, as-new condition inside and out. It’s been “kid-free” all its life and it shows.

The original Pirelli all-season 19-inch tires have tons of tread left. Included is a second set of Bridgestone winter tires, also in excellent condition. A second set of OEM rubber floor mats and a WeatherTech rear cargo mat are also included. There is factory Volvo warranty until August of 2016 or 60,000 miles, including roadside assistance and scheduled maintenance. This is an extremely well-speced, low-mileage Volvo XC90 (see below for full options list). Included are both original keys, books, records, window sticker, etc.

A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]

Thu, Dec 18 2014

Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.

Geely to release models developed with Volvo in 2015

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Geely and Volvo will finally team up for a jointly developed vehicle, more than three years after the safety-minded Swedish brand was gobbled up by Geely's parent company, according to a report in Automotive News Europe. The story quotes Geely's CEO, Gui Sheng Yue saying, "We have entered into actual research and development stage and I believe we can see the new product in the year after next."
That means 2015, which is a mighty ambitious timetable to bring a vehicle to market. But as Geely's CEO explains, life isn't going to get any easier in the Chinese market, "Competitive pressure on domestic brands in the China market should increase considerably in the coming years as most major international brands are strengthening their presence," he told ANE. Those statements also tell us that we shouldn't expect to see Geely on American shores any time soon. The brand is simply too focused on topping the Chinese market, at least among CDM brands.

First production Volvo S60 Polestar shown off

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

With the Volvo S60 Polestar going on sale in Australia this June, Volvo has finally released images and specs for the production version of the performance sedan. While no official build number has been announced, one image of the car's steering wheel shows a serial number plaque that says "No. 000/100" indicating that production will likely be limited to just 100 units in Australia. The press release states that the Australia run of Polestar-tuned S60s is a "pilot project" and that other potential markets are "under investigation."
Although it looks very similar to the S60 Polestar Concept we first saw at the LA Auto Show last year, the production version of the car sports a few changes. Visually, the front and rear fascias have been slightly modified from the concept car, as have the matte-black wheels. Inside, we see a different steering wheel that adds the aforementioned build sequence plaque but loses the suede leather accents, and there is also a sportier looking shift lever with a chrome handle that features a Polestar logo.
As for performance figures, rather than the 508-horsepower of the S60 Polestar Concept, the production version will be limited to 350 hp and more than 368 pound-feet of torque, which is still an improvement of about 25 hp and at least 14 lb-ft over a 2013 S60 R-Design. Polestar also tuned the six-speed automatic transmission and Haldex all-wheel-drive system for optimal performance leading to a top speed of 155 miles per hour and a 0-62 mph time of 4.9 seconds. The production S60 Polestar will still get suspension, brake and aerodynamic upgrades.
