What an awesome vehicle! I never intended on selling, but I recently moved to a condo with a one car garage. I also purchased an RV and needed a car to tow behind it, unfortunately flat towing is not possible with the Volvo.

Back to this awesome car, it is in excellent shape, only 41,900 miles on it and it has a VOLVO TOTAL CARE  transferrable WARRANTY until 11/03/2016 or 100,000 miles (transfer for a small charge). It has always been serviced at Volvo and all service records are included with the car. Also always garaged. No smokers in it, female (yes thats me) driven with a baby in it, so you know I couldn't have been tearing around in it that much right?

RARE- I've only seen one twin to this car on the road, and that was years ago in New York City.

EXTERIOR: Car was fully detailed in August, had an alignment, a regular service and the the AC serviced in August. Tires have lots of tread, the rims are in great shape, the sound from the very rare quad tailpipes roars like no other run of the mill XC 90. It has Xenon headlights that turn with the steering wheel. The color is Passion Red. The power from the engine is amazing, since it has no turbo there is no lag....step on it and it just goes!

INTERIOR: White piped black leather sport heated seats with 3 SETS of floor mats for front and back. Included are all weather rubber mats, plain black, and the special R-Design black mats with white piping. Also has the special 3rd row seats which fold up and down easily. Has a sunroof, power driver and passenger seats, power windows, locks and power folding mirrors. Premium sound, charging port between seats and a 12 volt in second row. Separate rear AC system. Rear seat entertainment system in the headrests with two sets of wireless headphones. Pop up navigation with a remote control. As a BONUS included is a Volvo bluetooth module, the rear cargo plastic matting and the OEM Volvo luggage containment rack with a divider.

SAFETY: In my opinion - Unmatched by any SUV - Boron steel construction in roof and in certain areas of car - safety seats - AWD - Anti lock brakes - full airbags all the way including 3rd row. Built like a tank.

REPAIRS: The ignition switch went bad a few years ago

Overall the car has been a dream to drive and own. In my opinion you will not find a 2009 XC 90 V8 that has had more TLC. This Volvo was built before the China buy out, it even has REAL aluminum trim rocker panel accents below the front and passenger doors!

I always treat my cars like I'm going to keep them forever. If I had my old garage back I would be keeping it.

Right now it is garaged in Orlando, only a 20 minute drive from the  airport. I can provide airport transport for you if needed. I have more pics but couldn't  fit them all here, contact me for them.

PLEASE NOTE - I was reviewing the included auto check, I bought this car from Boston Volvo back in 2009 with 6,500 miles on it and was able to buy the Total Care extended warranty at the same time. The car is still registered in NJ since I recently moved to Orlando. I am going to check the car fax and speak with the salesman back in Boston to see why 3 owners are listed.

TOW HITCH - I had this installed to carry my bike rack, I never towed with the car, there is no wiring for towing, but could be added.

3 IDIOITS CAR -  this is not the car used in the movie, that one was auctioned off years ago,  but is the same year, color and model (R Design) so if you are a 3 Idiots fan this is the car for you!

The next-generation wearable will be your car

Fri, Jan 8 2016

This year's CES has had a heavy emphasis on the class of device known as the "wearable" – think about the Apple Watch, or Fitbit, if that's helpful. These devices usually piggyback off of a smartphone's hardware or some other data connection and utilize various onboard sensors and feedback devices to interact with the wearer. In the case of the Fitbit, it's health tracking through sensors that monitor your pulse and movement; for the Apple Watch and similar devices, it's all that and some more. Manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality. As evidenced by Volvo's newly announced tie-up with the Microsoft Band 2 fitness tracking wearable, car manufacturers are starting to explore how wearable devices will help drivers. The On Call app brings voice commands, spoken into the Band 2, into the mix. It'll allow you to pass an address from your smartphone's agenda right to your Volvo's nav system, or to preheat your car. Eventually, Volvo would like your car to learn things about your routines, and communicate back to you – or even, improvise to help you wake up earlier to avoid that traffic that might make you late. Do you need to buy a device, like the $249 Band 2, and always wear it to have these sorts of interactions with your car? Despite the emphasis on wearables, CES 2016 has also given us a glimmer of a vehicle future that cuts out the wearable middleman entirely. Take Audi's new Fit Driver project. The goal is to reduce driver stress levels, prevent driver fatigue, and provide a relaxing interior environment by adjusting cabin elements like seat massage, climate control, and even the interior lighting. While it focuses on a wearable device to monitor heart rate and skin temperature, the Audi itself will use on-board sensors to examine driving style and breathing rate as well as external conditions – the weather, traffic, that sort of thing. Could the seats measure skin temperature? Could the seatbelt measure heart rate? Seems like Audi might not need the wearable at all – the car's already doing most of the work. Whether there's a device on a driver's wrist or not, manufacturers seem to be developing a consensus that vehicles should be taking on some of a wearable's functionality.

Volvo begins rolling out over-the-air software updates in the U.S.

Mon, Nov 1 2021

Volvo announced that two of its models are now compatible with over-the-air software updates. The electric XC40 Recharge and three versions of the XC60 are eligible to receive a variety of wireless changes including driving range improvements and small bug fixes. The Swedish firm published details about its over-the-air software updating system shortly after going public. It's compatible with the new Android-based infotainment system found in many of its cars, including the C40 Recharge unveiled in 2021, and it works a lot like the similar technology that your smartphone features in the sense that the software updates itself; there's no need to stop by a dealer or plug in a USB drive. When an update is ready, a message appears on the dashboard-mounted touchscreen asking motorists if they want to download it. Owners of compatible cars in the United States received their first over-the-air software update last week. Labeled version 1.7, it notably added SiriusXM satellite radio compatibility. Volvo also noted that the XC40 Recharge received additional driving range during the update. Looking ahead, Volvo plans to wirelessly add new features and enhancements to the infotainment system. Only some 2021 and 2022 models can receive over-the-air updates. As of writing, the list of compatible cars is limited to the aforementioned XC40 Recharge, the XC60, the XC60 Recharge, and the XC60 Polestar Engineered. It's reasonable to assume that the feature will spread across the range in the coming years as new models are launched. Sister company Polestar also offers over-the-air updates on the 2. 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge add RWD, bigger battery pack

Tue, May 2 2023

Volvo revealed rear-wheel-drive versions of its C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge for Europe a few months ago, but mum was the word on U.S. availability. That changes today, as Volvo just debuted a host of updates and changes coming to the electric SUVs sold here. The big, new offering is that both the 2024 C40 Recharge and 2024 XC40 Recharge will be available in entry-level rear-wheel-drive models. Volvo developed a new and more efficient 248 horsepower electric motor that will sit on the rear axle for these models. The battery pack is also updated to be more energy dense, so it’s now an 82 kilowatt-hour pack instead of a 78 kWh pack. Combine the more efficient motor with the bigger battery pack, and range skyrockets past the old AWD models. In this RWD configuration, the 2024 C40 Recharge is EPA-rated for 297 miles of range, and the XC40 Recharge at 293 miles.  Additionally, the charging experience should be greatly improved, as Volvo says itÂ’s upgraded the maximum charge speed to 200 kW instead of the 150 kW it could manage previously. A 10-80% charge should now take approximately 28 minutes instead of the 40 minutes Volvo estimated previously. ThatÂ’s going to make a big difference if youÂ’re road tripping with multiple stops. The dual-motor AWD version of both cars are getting some updates, too. Instead of the identical motors on the front and rear axle, Volvo is putting its new 248 horsepower motor on the rear and a lower power 147 horsepower motor on the front axle. That front motor is only engaged when itÂ’s needed, so Volvo says this updated AWD model will be more efficient than before. Unfortunately, both the C40 and XC40 Recharge AWD models will retain the old 78 kWh battery pack. This also means theyÂ’re saddled with the slower 150 kW charge speed. That said, the efficiency improvements from the new electric motor setup means range increases anyway. It goes up by 31 miles for the C40 Recharge to 257 miles, and by 21 miles for the XC40 Recharge to 254 miles. Other updates to the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge models include a new 19-inch aero wheel option, more paint colors and additional exterior themes to choose from. Updated pricing is not yet available. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
