This Volvo V70 R is a very well taken care of station wagon, owned by the former general sales manager of the Volvo Store in Winter Park. Needless to say, this car has been maintained to the exacting standards of a Volvo Expert. The interior is in impeccable condition, and there are few V70 R's that have been preserved in such high condition. The V70 R comes equipped with Volvo's own 4C multi-mode suspension, allowing for both sport and comfortable suspension selections. The V70R will feel just as comfortable getting groceries as it will out on a track doing 120mph. Brembo Brakes are standard issue on ever V70R, because the 2.5L Turbocharged Straight 5 Engine was simply too powerful for standard brakes.

The Wall Street Journal says that with "79% more power than the base V70 wagon, Its current V70 R is the fastest Volvo wagon yet. Our tester sprinted from zero to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds -- a hair quicker than a Porsche Boxster. And on the practical side, it was the only car out of the five that could carry our TV box without requiring us to fold the rear seats first."

"Seeking to lure speed-crazy guys with kids, car makers are trying to transform the dowdy old family hauler into something new: the manwagon. In perhaps the most extreme sign of the industry's horsepower race, some of these wagons are quicker than a Porsche Boxster. They have monstrous engines, giant brakes, track-ready suspensions and race-car-style seats -- plus prices up to $30,000 higher than the base versions. But unlike a sports car, these wagons can fit strollers and coolers in the back."

For more than 43 years, Noel's has been the reliable source for remanufactured Mercedes Benz longblock engines.

*Picture of engines are photos of actual longblocks  remanufactured at Noels.

No advanced core charge, complimentary installation kit,  and our 4-year or 50,000 mile warranty.

Noel's Rebuilt engines are built to maximize performance and longevity. All valves used in Noel's engines have under .0003" runout to increase compression, and create a smooth idle. Every engine is taken completely apart and inspected. All cranks at Noel's are standard, unground cranks. New rods are statically balanced by weight and must pass a straightness test of .001". New pistons are properly clearanced into the existing block and are matched to a replaced rod. Block and head decking is done to a perfect finish, and cams are polished into a "Racing Style" finish to decrease resistance. Many of our engines are built with parts that we have designed and fabricated ourselves to increase the longevity and horsepower output of our engines. The majority of our engines have tweaked cams that allow them to respond instantly and run smoothly in the low end. All seals within our longblocks are brand new, and every wear surface inside of the engine is pre-lubed so that after installation and insertion of oil into the engine, it will run in the original, pristine condition that it was manufactured to. It would be almost impossible to find a new factory engine with a lower leak down than our remanufactured engines.

We do not use 'general' engine building techniques for our engines. Every engine that enters Noels has a specific set of problems that we have diagnosed, and we use our experience from building race engines to improve upon the failure points in every troubled engine. Many of our customers have said that "With a Noel Engine, My car runs BETTER than it was new!" Say goodbye to oil leaks, pesky electronic codes, and poor idling, and say hello to more horsepower in your car than ever before!

We believe in taking the time to inspect new parts, and build the engine right the first time.

Best car infotainment systems: From UConnect to MBUX, these are our favorites

Sun, Jan 7 2024

Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried all car infotainment systems what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. For the most part, the various infotainment systems available all share a similar purpose. They aim to help the driver get where they're going with navigation, play their favorite tunes via all sorts of media playback options and allow folks to stay connected with others via phone connectivity. Of course, most go way beyond the basics these days and offer features like streaming services, in-car performance data and much more. Unique features are aplenty when you start diving through menus, but how they go about their most important tasks vary widely. Some of our editors prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based and chock full of boundary-pushing features. Others may prefer a back-to-basics non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best infotainment overall: UConnect 5, various Stellantis products Ram 1500 Uconnect Infotainment System Review If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu.

Five vehicles named Top Safety Pick+ including new Civic, MKZ

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

In an attempt to help push vehicle safety to a higher level, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety created a stricter Top Safety Pick+ rating last year, which incorporates a brutal small overlap test and requires cars to get Good ratings in four out of the five categories (and no less than Acceptable in the fifth). Joining the list of the safest cars of 2013, the 2013 Volvo XC60, Lincoln MKZ, Honda Civic (sedan and coupe) and the 2014 Mazda6 have all received the coveted TSP+ rating.
The Mazda6 and Lincoln MKZ have both been completely redesigned, and both received Acceptable ratings in the small overlap test. The Honda Civic, coming off its emergency refresh for 2013, is the first small car to be subjected to the small overlap test, and IIHS says that one of the car's many upgrades includes a stiffer front structure allowing it to receive Good ratings in all categories. Similarly, the XC60 gets all Good ratings thanks to, according to IIHS, Volvo updating the airbag software allowing the side airbags to inflate during the small overlap test.
The 2014 Subaru Forester has not yet been subjected to the small overlap test, so it must make do with just a Top Safety Pick rating until the IIHS tests small utility vehicles, which is expected to happen later in the spring.

Volvo changes 'Iron Mark' logo to fit with the times

Mon, Sep 27 2021

Volvo's first car debuted in 1927, bearing the Swedish automaker's now-famous "Iron Mark" logo of a circle with an arrow pointing to the upper right. For 73 of the 94 years since that Volvo OV 4 open carriage, the company's been represented graphically by four versions of a two-dimensional-looking logo, either a colorful oval that looks like a sandwich shop sign, or the Iron Mark logo, or just script. From 2000 to 2020, that Volvo cars trademark has changed four more times (plus once for Volvo trucks), Volvo creating three versions of a 3D-looking Iron Mark with a blue bar across the middle containing the script, and in 2020, changing the font of the script. Now that's it's 2021, it's apparently time for another overhaul. Visitors to Volvo's Facebook page realized Volvo changed its profile picture to a new and very flat version of its Iron Mark. This isn't the revolution everyone's making it out to be. When Volvo debuted its last new Iron Mark in 2015, one of the Swedish ad agencies that created it wrote, "The logo has been simplified in its purest form and conveys the brand’s vision: to be the world's most progressive and desirable premium car brand." Thing is, the agencies created two versions of the logo — one in silver with three-dimensional shading that retained the blue crossbar drawn up in 2000, and another in black and white, a solid black circle and attached arrow with a black crossbar bearing white "Volvo" script. The automaker's been using the silver, shaded version everywhere the public would see it. Seems Volvo wanted something even more "simplified in its purest form," though, so it could have simply requested a tweak to the B&W version it's been sitting on for six years.   The question, "Do you like it," probably doesn't matter, because it won't stop anyone from buying the product. Besides, the Volkswagen logo went flat in 2019, Nissan went flat in 2020 and so did BMW, except that its flat roundel is for everything but its cars, and Kia went flat this year — along with Warner Brothers, Pringles UK, and Burger King, that last company seemingly trying to win an award for being plain. Simplicity in two dimensions is the thing now. A Volvo Australia rep told Drive the rollout "will be gradual. [This week] we start by rolling out the updated identity on our main website, main social media platforms and in the new Volvo Cars mobile app.
