Engine failure. Dead battery. In December, the mileage was approximately 180,000. Uncertain exactly how much since the vehicle was not driven since January. Exterior in decent shape. It could use a good car wash. Interior is in very good shape considering the age and milage. Mechanically all else was fine including the transmission which never gave any issues for me."

My Volvo XC70 had an engine heart attack and slipped into a coma over the winter.  A self anointed M.D. (A Motor Doctor hanging out at in one of the long lines at Auto Zone) abandoned her on the operating table while performing a routine timing belt replacement.  After a couple of days of neglecting curiosity, I decided to turn over the engine myself with wishful thinking.  It was a rough start.  I heard a rapid series of  clicks and knocks so, I immediately turned her off.  Too late!  The damage was done.  I soon found another willing M.D. (at Auto Zone of course) and he determined that her valve stems were bent. (Almost sounds like a feminine issue). As she lay there motionless in my make shift ICU section of my drive way, the "expert" gave me a quote.  Not feasible for me.  As her next of kin, I decided right then and there to put her down.  But not without enlisting your aid!

I need her moved ASAP either by a gurney or a tow of your choice.  From there, feel free to check her into an auto clinic of your choice and revive her as a project.  If not, put her on a hydraulic slab at the auto morgue and dissect her as a mechanical organ donor.  If neither suits your needs, by all means, please find her a decent plot and send her off with a 21 gun salute.
Uncle Sam might appreciate and reward your efforts for it!

Interior:
The leather seats are slightly worn as expected over time.  However, there are no loose seams and/or tears in the firm yet supple leather.   All cabin buttons, levers, locks and lights were in working order before tragedy befell her.

Exterior:
She can use a good wash!

Performance:
Keep in mind that the battery is dead and I can only provide an approximation on the mileage.  The odometer might have + or - 3000 on the 185,000 miles listed.
Front and Rear brakes done a year ago.  The ignition always fired up quickly.  The car drove straight.  AC was cold.  Heat worked.  Wipers worked.  No check engine lights or related problems to report in the past. The suspension was a glide, the handling was tight, the shifting was flawless.

Me:
I am not a dealer.  I am a private seller with 100% FB.  I attempt to list as accurately as possible.  However, I am human and am therefore prone to unintentional oversight and errors.  Furthermore, I do not claim nor do I imply to know the full history of the vehicle as I have only owned it for approximately 4 years.  Never had any issues until her mechanical health was compromised by an unlicensed M.D. I found standing bored in a long, long line at Auto Zone.

You:
Before you take my word(s) or engage in the gears of commerce, you have the right to inspect the vehicle before the end of the auction.

The XC70:
Is selling AS IS in all its glory.

Greetings from Trollhattan. I'm Emily, but I'm not a Saab.

Sat, Apr 29 2023

What’s Swedish for “never give up”? Saab, apparently. The fondly-remembered car company formerly called just that — and now named NEVS — is only a shell, employing just a limited crew in the land of trolls. But itÂ’s got something to sell, and that something seems like it's really something. ItÂ’s called Emily. The Emily GT exists as six prototype electric cars, according to NEVS, with a combined horsepower rating (per car) of 484 powered by an enormous 175-kilowatt lithium-ion battery thatÂ’s good for 600 miles of range. In development almost since Saab's demise — the company, once owned by General Motors, was closed down in 2010 — the Emily is a very real product and needs a real sponsor, according to NEVS CEO Nina Selander, speaking to Carup. “It is for sale, it is also a joy to be able to show it. It should be allowed to live on, itÂ’s too nice, too good and too modern a car for nothing to come of it. Interested parties are welcome,” she said. Photos of the car show a modern, forward-thrust profile with handsome lines, a look similar to the last Saab 9-5 and VolvoÂ’s S60 (must be a Swedish thing) and a fashionable, sci-fi-ish interior. A hopeful engineer on the project estimates that the car is less than two years away from some kind of series production, but according to the modest NEVS website, the company is currently in “hibernation” even as it continues to solicit buyers for the Emilys. Said Peter Dahl, the Emily project manager, “Many have asked us what we have been doing for 10 years. We have developed 13 different car projects, this is one of them.” Related video: Volvo Saab Automotive History Electric Future Vehicles Classics

Volvo studying test of electric roads in Sweden

Tue, 27 May 2014

Volvo already announced the results of a study of wireless charging using a stationary C30, and now it's embarking on a more ambitious study of wireless charging involving moving city buses. Next year, in conjunction with the Swedish Transport Association, Volvo will build a section of electric road up to 500 meters long that would use inductive charging to refill the batteries while the bus drives over it.
Right now, the company's Hyper Bus diesel hybrid has to stop to plug in and charge at the end of its route. The company is looking for a way to keep buses in service while being able to run on electric power for greater lengths of time. The new line used for the study will be called ElectriCity, and will come online in central Gothenburg sometime in 2015. There's a press release below with more information.

Volvo EX90 SUV will have interior radar system to detect kids, pets

Tue, Sep 27 2022

Volvo has introduced a number of important safety features in its vehicles throughout the years including the first three-point seatbelt back in 1959. But now the company has developed something a bit more techy with what it's calling the world's first interior radar system for cars.  Set to debut on its upcoming flagship EX90 electric SUV, Volvo's new radar system is designed to monitor both the cabin and trunk of a vehicle in order to prevent the car from being locked while anyone is still inside. The idea is to guard against situations where pets or children may be inadvertently trapped inside a car on a hot day, with the car surfacing reminders if it recognizes that there are still occupants inside when being locked. Additionally, the car's climate control can also be set to stay on if a passenger is detected, further lowering the risk of heatstroke.  While the thought of leaving a pet or child inside a car on a hot day is unimaginable to most people, it can happen to anyone. In its press release, Volvo cited statistics from the U.S. where more than 900 children have tragically died due to hyperthermia since 1998.  Volvo's senior technical specialist for injury prevention Lotta Jakobsson says, “No one chooses to be distracted or tired, but we know it can happen. WeÂ’re all human and distraction is a fact of life. With the help of cutting edge technology, weÂ’ll support you when youÂ’re not at your best and help you avoid leaving family members or pets behind by accident.” In order to cover as much of the inside of the EX90 as possible, Volvo says it will use multiple radars positioned in the car's overhead console, roof-mounted reading lamps and in the trunk that can detect "sub-millimeter" movements. Unfortunately, we won't get a more detailed idea of how Volvo's new interior radar system really works until the EX90 is officially revealed on November 9th. But given that the new feature will come standard on the company's forthcoming EV (where allowed by regulation), we're hoping to see similar systems become basic equipment on more cars and makes in the future.Â
