Welcome to my no reserve auction for my 2001 Volvo V70 XC. I've had this car for about a year and bought it to repair and use as my main car. I'm having a baby which has changed my time and financial priorities away from this vehicle, so now it's for sale. Most of the nice features are functional, aside from those listed. The AC blows cold, heater is warm. The bulbs in the headlight control panel and climate control unit were replaced with blue and/or red LED bulbs. I believe this was tastefully done and does not take away from the driving experience. Heated/power seats work great. Dual climate control is awesome. Power windows work with auto up/down functioning appropriately. The floor mats are aftermarket but look good. There is also a matching mat for the rear hatch compartment, which is in the pictures. The rear seats can fold completely flat. Also included is the rear cargo cover. The windows are tinted and should be legal in most states. One window has a poor tint job. Cosmetic imperfections were photographed. The driver's side fog light is broken. All imperfections were photographed and described to the best of my ability, but there may be other minor ones not shown here due to the nature of a high mileage car. The glove box stop is broken, so it swings wide open. The auto dim mirror is permanently dimmed, reducing visibility. The transmission has serious shifting issues, ranging from flaring between shifts to very hard up and downshifts. Sometimes,  it shifts well. The check engine light is on for the transmission solenoid (2-3 If I'm not mistaken.) The engine has not really given me any issues, but does make a hissing sound when under load. It burns a quart of oil every few tanks of gas, more when driven hard.  The suspension is worn out and needs replacement and the car does vibrate when driving. The AWD system works. Two sets of keys are included. Clean title. Radio works, No CD function though .Brakes are very strong and smooth. ABS works. The car has recently received a new upper (polyeurethane [pictured]) and lower (factory spec) transmission mounts. Spark plugs were changed around 10k miles ago. The serpentine belt (pictured) seems to be quite new, and the timing belt was inspected (by me) and appears to have been serviced recently, but I cannot officially say that these belts were changed because I have no proof. I will update this listing with any other known issues, as I am trying to give a complete picture to the buyer. The bottom line is that the car needs TLC, maybe a powertrain swap, but has been driven by me for approximately 10,000 miles with no apparent worsening of the conditions listed. That being said, there are no warranties or promises associated with the sale of this vehicle. Please ask any questions before bidding. Due to my job, I am not always in town and may require some patience from the buyer to complete the transaction. If buyer arranges shipping, This shouldn't be an issue.

Sunday Drive: Volvo hits a crossover home run, and people still love sports cars

Sun, Sep 24 2017

Looking back at the week that just was clearly tells us at least three things. First, crossovers don't have to be boring. Second, people still love sports cars, from the attainable (Audi TT RS) to the fanciful (Mercedes-AMG GT C). And finally, the traditional German trio of premium luxury brands had better not rest on their laurels, because credible challengers are coming in from every direction. The biggest reveal of the week, at least judging by the interest of Autoblog readers, was the Volvo XC40. Not only is the little 'ute a looker, it introduces some innovative new buying/leasing schemes designed to appeal to an audience accustomed to trading in and trading up every couple of years. Think of Volvo's flat-fee lease as you would a smartphone contract, and you'll be on the right track. Genesis looks to have a hit on its hands in the form of the G70 sport sedan. We took a Korean-spec model for a spin and found a lot to like about the upstart contender. We can't wait to sample one here in the United States to see how it stacks up against the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. In other news, we're still really excited to see a production Ford Ranger Raptor. But if you just can't wait for the official reveal — it's OK, neither can we — take a look at the renderings in our post down below. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?

Sun, Jul 9 2023

The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric.  Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands.  If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla.  Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor.  Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have:  Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.

Volvo calls in S60 T5 over oil pressure indicator

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

As anyone with a driver's license should be able to tell you, the oil pressure indicator on a car is a vital feature. If you don't have enough oil pressure, your engine could seize up, leaving you stranded and causing catastrophic damage for both your automobile and your wallet. Worryingly, then, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that the oil pressure indicator lamp on certain Volvo S60 models is prone to failure, prompting the manufacturer to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to MY2011-2012 Volvo S60s with turbocharged five-cylinder engines manufactured between June 22, 2010 and May 14, 2012. All told, precisely 30,929 units are affected by the recall campaign. The owners of affected models will be notified by Volvo to bring in their cars to their local dealer for a software update. See the official notice below for details.
