The sad day has come when I have to let go of this reliable beauty. I have too many cars in my driveway and just bought another and this one must go. This car has had 3 owners before me. The first two of these was between 1997-2003. When the second owner sold the car it had only about 55k miles. The third owner had a minor accident with the vehicle in August 2007 and sold it to a car dealership which is where I purchased it. The dealer Steven let us know the previous owner was very aggressive about performing preventative maintenance that he didn't need to fix anything. Since then the car has only needed a tune-up, new alternator, and motor mounts and routine maintenance. I have put mostly highway miles on the car, I use it mostly on the weekend for my out of town trips! The car has been very reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a cross country trip. Some of the repairs include: 04/09- complete tune-up, spark plugs07/09- new front brakes/rotors05/10- new motor mounts/brakes12/11- new tires6/12- new battery5/13-new alternator (pep boys) The car has some cosmetic flaws as you may expect from a car from 1997. There is a medium size dent from the prior owner's car accident. The car has very little rust. The car has NO damage from Hurricane Sandy, it is located a few blocks from Hofstra University which is miles from the water and wasn't impacted by the storm. The interior has normal wear and tear, with the exception of the stain on the rear drivers side seat. The vehicle has a CD player. The AC works. The sunroof works. The rear wiper works (which is rare based on the age of the vehicle). No damage to the windshield. The speedometer is not working. Those are all the details of the few issues that I know of. The vehicle has been good to me, incredibly reliable and easy to take care of. I'm sad to see this one go and I hope to pass it along to someone who will enjoy it as much as I did. The car also includes a bike rack that has rarely been used. $500 will be due via pay pal within 24 hours of the auction's close. Once I have full payment I will express mail the title so that you can make arrangements with your State motor vehicle department for temporary registration, as the car does not have a current registration. I will store the car for no charge for 10 days after the auction closes. If we don't make other arrangements after that time there will be a storage charge of $20 per day. I have too many cars in my driveway and got a new one. I really don't have the room to store my new car as it is now.

Wagons make a bit of a comeback, with new models, sales on the rise
Thu, Jan 10 2019Consider this an official invitation to hop on the wagon bandwagon. There's still tons of room because, well, it's a wagon (and market share is still extremely small). But according to new data, the segment is growing. According to a report from Bloomberg, using data from Edmunds.com, roughly 211,600 Americans purchased wagons in 2018. That is technically down from the 237,600 sold in 2017, but wagon sales in the U.S. are up 29 percent from where they were five years ago. It's also the third year in a row that wagon sales broke the 200,000 mark. The sales trends have been somewhat representative of the availability of wagons. New models have debuted during the past 5 years and therefore offer more opportunity at more brands to buy wagons. In addition to more modest cars such as the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen, several luxury and performance brands are offering wagons today, such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo and Buick. (Bloomberg's headlines make the point that "crossovers are for the Kardashians," and wagons are just, well, classier.) This uptick in brand-name availability, as well as extremely well-executed design on most of the wagons currently available, has helped increase the segment's desirability. That, and its ability to better accomplish the same tasks at hand while standing out from the crossover and SUV crowd. Still, the posted numbers represent a small fraction of the total vehicles sold. According to the data, wagons only held a 1.4 percent market share in 2017, the segment's best recent year. Wagons hold a steadfast place in America's past, and they're writing an interesting new story. With the downturn in traditional cars, they may continue to create an unexpected narrative. The first trailer for Top Gear's 24th season shows a hands-free drag race
Tue, Dec 27 2016In the excitement over Amazon's new motoring show, it's important to remember that there's a certain series from the BBC that's attempting to get its mojo back for a 24th season. Yes, we're talking about Top Gear. Since Chris Evans' departure earlier this year, Top Gear news has been relatively sparse, particularly as The Grand Tour and its hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond seized headlines. But on Christmas, watchers of the series' YouTube channel caught a glimpse of the first scene from the next season. Featuring hosts Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, and Rory Reid in what looks like a trio of old, dilapidated cars. We're thinking TG is running a taxi comparison. There's a London black cab and a Mercedes-Benz W210 – a favorite of European cabbies – but we aren't sure where Harris' boxy wagon fits in. Did the Volvo 850 Estate ever serve as a livery vehicle? But it's the basis for this comparison that's weird, because the hosts appear to be having a no-hands drag race. The cars veer off in different directions, traveling across what looks like a snow-covered dirt lot. We're assuming hilarity ensues. And while we don't quite know what they're hoping to accomplish, we are looking forward to watching it go down. Top Gear's 24th season doesn't have an official air date, and the video ends only with a cryptic "Coming Soon." Expect to hear more in the next few months.
