See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"The vehicle drives excellent except that the reverse does not work. I am told it is not the gear but some other internal part. Otherwise car drives like a dream. Everything works but the ABS module which can be rebuilt for about $80."

This is my Volvo which we have owned for the past eight years. I have 3 other Volvos mainly XC's so this is what we all drive in our family, mainly because of the safety aspect as there is no safer vehicle period. These Cross Countrys are very versatile. Since I have owned 18 Volvos in the past 30 years, I understand them and know how to have them serviced and take care of them. This vehicle was broken in 8 years ago with Mobil 1 full synthetic oil and has used nothing else since. The engine is incredibly strong, and incredible fast since it is a very active turbo. Too fast for my taste. It has relatively low miles for it's age, only 123,302.  Being a highly rated seller for over 10 years on EBAY, my customers have learned that what I say you can fully take as truth and my descriptions are dead accurate. If there is something wrong, I will tell you.  Also what is good, as there is more good than bad on this vehicle.   I will give you exactly what I describe and you make the choice. This is an unusual case. The vehicle drives beautifully. However, it will not go in reverse.  I took it to the Volvo franchise and they told me it was not a gear, but rather some internal issue like a clutch or something. I do not understand transmissions other than which gear to put it in. I believe this car could be driven straight to CA from Wisconsin where it is at, as long as you don't have to back up. Really a shame. The interior is jet black leather although the pics look grey. It is solid black and is in very good condition. Only the drivers seat shows the typical Volvo wear on the left side of the seat. The car is very clean inside, and the dashboard is about as perfect as an 14 year old car is. Air conditioning, air bags, brakes, heater, all work just as they should and air is ice cold. NO leaks. Tires are very good. The engine, is extremely strong and runs exactly the way it should run, no missing, etc. The ABS light is on along with the Tracks, which simply means the module needs to be rebuilt, which they do on EBAY for around $80 exchange. I have done it to about half of my former Volvo's. The body is in very good condition also EXCEPT around the front passenger side where the molding has pulled away from the body some. Please see the picture. The sunroof is clear and beautiful with no leakage.  The rubber weather stripping around the front doors could use replacing however. The wood trim on the dash is elegant.  The passenger side has a number of scratches which is probably a little more than normal, but not too bad. The driver side is much better. The paint all away around is very very good. The car starts up exactly as it should and the battery is excellent. Engine idles very smoothly and stay perfectly on the tach level. All power windows and power driver's seat works fine. All gauges work. Radio works. The check engine light is on for the ABS module. All airbags are in proper condition. Just the transmission, again, no issues whatsoever as long as you have it in park or drive, as it will drive flawlessly. Nice original Volvo  wheels.  The car has Oregon plates and will come with a clean Oregon title. This is not a flood car, salvage, or anything like that. No liens, as we have owned it outright for almost 8 years and have driven it every day. Safe, comfortable, nice-looking, versatile.  Just you will have to have the expertise to do something about the transmission. I'd suggest picking up a used one and having it installed.  We don't because we plan to move in the next few months out of State and we need to narrow down the # of Volvos we have now so this is an opportunity for us to do so. You can pick up a pretty nice Volvo XC for it's age if you know how to get it fixed because you are getting very strong structure and components that are all working except as listed above. The engine and wheels alone are worth as much if not probably more than the price range I expect it to go for.  And if you can function without reverse, then you have yourself a steal. I keep these vehicles meticulously maintained, with proper oil changes, timing belts, brakes. The glass is all perfect, as is the lights and signal lamps.   Gets very good gas mileage also as these XC's are economical. The vehicle also has a roof rack which is worth a lot.  The pictures are fair, not great, so I apologize. The car is strong and not trashed or falling apart. The passenger door is a little hard to shut so you have to close it with some power. There are no water or oil leaks.   I fully believe whomever wins the bidding on this, which is a no reserve auction, could drive this to where in the US they want realizing it cannot drive in reverse. So, the vehicle will be sold-as, where is, as most all EBAY vehicles are sold as. The vehicle is in Madison, Wisconsin. I will be available should you wish to have it picked up and will give it to the authorized party of your choice. BY bidding on this vehicle, you agree that you understand this is sold as-is and you understand the defects that I have listed above, as I do not like any misunderstandings, and that the car must have a $100 deposit by PayPal within 24 hours, and the balance must be paid with 5 days.  I can keep the vehicle here for longer but it must be paid for completely within the five days.

How the new Volvo EX90 electric SUV adds revolution to the evolution

Tue, May 9 2023

The all-new, all-electric Volvo EX90 does not appear to be radically different from the XC90, the vehicle it will eventually replace. It has nearly the same dimensions, inside and out. It sports familiar, familial design cues, including T-shaped “ThorÂ’s Hammer” headlights, a squared-off hood and roofline, sharply-swaged and deeply-scalloped flanks and tall taillights that fringe the hatch. Inside, three accessible rows of seats are done up in an upscale Scandinavian Modern motif, like an Arne Jacobsen furniture showroom. But if one looks closely, one begins to notice key differences. First, there is the blunt, closed snout up front. It may be grille-less, but itÂ’s still bedecked with VolvoÂ’s Iron Mark. Then, dead centered above the rearview mirror, like a pair of reading glasses canted atop oneÂ’s forehead, is a protruding hump. These hint at the EXÂ’s most comprehensive distinctions from its predecessor. The new full-size crossover is engine-less, the first Volvo to be built on an all-new battery-powered electric vehicle platform. And housed in that hump, is another first, the initial consumer vehicular integration of a functional lidar — like radar, but using light instead of sound waves — used to allow the carÂ’s advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to “see” further down the road, even around bends and through some objects. Eventually, allegedly, it will also allow for “unsupervised driving” capabilities. Both of these features are signifiers of VolvoÂ’s latest, but ongoing, missions. The first is its commitment to a full electrification of its entire passenger car fleet, which it plans to accomplish by the end of this decade. The second is the brandÂ’s well-known leadership in vehicular safety. Volvo claims that its new suite of sensors (16 ultra-sonic, eight cameras, five radars and the lidar) can help prevent 10% of vehicular collisions and 20% of serious injuries, part of the brandÂ’s mission to prevent anyone from being killed or seriously injured in a Volvo. ThereÂ’s even a group of sensors monitoring the driverÂ’s wellbeing to make sure theyÂ’re not sleepy or wasted, while concurrently scanning the passenger compartment to ensure that no child or pet was left behind due to that aforementioned tired or inebriated state. If they forget, theyÂ’ll get an alert on their phone, which is also their key, and the A/C or heater will automatically turn on so the precious (yet forgotten) cargo doesnÂ’t bake/freeze.

Best luxury SUVs of 2022 and 2023

Mon, Sep 12 2022

Once upon a time, the idea of a luxury SUV meant a Range Rover, and even that was pretty agricultural by modern standards. Then Jeep Grand Cherokees and Ford Explorers started offering fancy, range-topping versions followed soon by Lexus, BMW and Mercedes dipping their toes in the water. And then the floodgates opened. Today, there is a staggering number of luxury SUVs available in every shape, size and price point. There are electric luxury SUVs like the Tesla Model X and Jaguar I-Pace, as well as gas-swilling, high-performance SUVs like the BMW X5 M and Cadillac Escalade V. Sports car makers Porsche, Aston Martin and Lamborghini have even dived in.  But of this great many, which are the best luxury SUVs? We sat down, scoured our reviews, took some votes, had some discussions and came up with the luxury SUVs we view as the best. They are listed alphabetically within the six segments listed below.  Best Subcompact Luxury SUV   |   Best Compact Luxury SUV   |   Best Midsize Luxury SUV (Two-Row) Best Midsize Luxury SUV (Three-Row)   |   Best Flagship Luxury SUV (Two-Row)   |   Best Flagship Luxury SUV (Three-Row)  Best subcompact luxury SUVs Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class Why it stands out: Outstanding space and versatility; legit luxury interior; amusing GLB 35 versionCould be better: Overwhelming and confusing tech interface Most subcompact luxury SUVs are a dubious value, with cramped interiors of marginal quality and unrefined driving dynamics. You'd be much better off paying less money for a loaded, non-luxury compact SUV. The Mercedes GLB is different, though. Its boxy design provides space few other subcompact SUV can match (luxury or otherwise), while its cabin design and feature content are in keeping with pricier Mercedes models. The quality's not exactly up to GLC standards, nor is driving refinement, but the difference is appropriate for how much you're saving and still perfectly acceptable. There's nothing dubious about buying a GLB.     Volvo XC40 Why it stands out: More features for the money; spacious and versatile interior; distinctive design; electric versionCould be better: Fuel-efficient base engine only available with FWD Most subcompact luxury models feel a bit like cheap knockoffs of their bigger, pricier brand mates. The XC40, by contrast, is a break from the Volvo norm in a good way.

Volvo-based Futuricum electric truck sets Guinness range record

Mon, Sep 13 2021

There is a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled by an electric truck on a single charge. Swiss-based firm Futuricum built a Volvo-based delivery truck that drove for 683 miles on a closed test track. Although the prototype used to set the record has reportedly been in regular service on Swiss roads since early 2021, the record was set on a 1.7-mile high-speed oval operated by Continental near Hanover, Germany. The truck set off with a full charge and coasted to a stop 392 laps later; two drivers split their schedule in 4.5-hour shifts. Reaching the 683-mile threshold took about 23 hours, so the truck traveled at an average speed of 31 mph. Futuricum calls this a realistic average value for the truck's intended use — it's certainly not designed for long hauls. Whether it was empty or loaded with cargo wasn't specified, and we've reached out to the company for more details. What we do know is that the drivetrain was not modified, meaning the 680-horsepower truck is equipped with a 680-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack. That's over six times bigger than the battery in a Porsche Taycan. Driving at a constant speed on a closed track is very different than delivering parcels in real-world conditions, which is what the Futuricum truck normally spends its days doing. In more normal use cases, the model (whose speed is electronically limited to about 55 mph) has a driving range of around 250 miles, according to the manufacturer.
