2008 Volvo S80 3.2 Sedan 4-door 3.2l on 2040-cars
San Francisco, California, United States
|
Overall in excellent condition- city car parked in a secure garage. Very well cared for with all scheduled maintenance done at certified Volvo shops. As noted, the car does have a few minor defects: dings from city parking on front and rear bumpers, passenger side front door with a minor dent (the picture reflects the flash, making it look like a scratch, but it is just a minor indentation that is not obvious until you look close up), missing headlight washer cap and front grill was previously damaged and replaced with a grill that says "V8". We are the original owners of the vehicle- selling it as we just bought a new Volvo S60. We don't smoke and rarely eat or drink in the car, so the interior is very clean. This has been a great car- mostly used to commute to work and on weekend trips out of the city. Payment must be made by cash or cashiers check. Buyer is responsible for picking up the vehicle at our residence in San Francisco, CA or arranging for shipment at their own expense. |

Volvo Cars laying off 1,300 as it steps up cost cuts
Thu, May 4 2023Volvo Cars will lay off around 1,300 office-based employees in Sweden as it steps up cost cutting, the Sweden-based automaker said on Thursday. While an earlier efficiency drive had begun to show results, with Volvo this week reporting a strong first quarter, more efficiency was needed, CEO Jim Rowan said in a statement. "Economic headwinds, increased raw material prices and increased competition are likely to remain a challenge to our industry for some time," he said. The 1,300 positions equate to 6% of Volvo Cars' workforce in Sweden. Rowan told Reuters the group did not yet know how much it would save from the new measures. "We're still working the details through on that," he said in an interview. The company said it had issued redundancy notices for 1,100 employees, while the remaining 200 white-collar positions would be identified following a review of the business across Sweden. It said it also expected to cut jobs and reduce costs across its global operations in the coming months, including its consultancies. Rowan said he could not yet specify where those jobs would be cut, but that focus would primarily remain on office-based positions. "We sell in over 80 countries or so worldwide, so I think there's opportunities for us to become more efficient across the entire network," he told Reuters. Volvo Cars shares were down 3.87% at 0848 GMT. Â Earnings/Financials Hirings/Firings/Layoffs Volvo SUV Luxury
Volvo working to allow groceries delivered to your car, even when you aren't there
Mon, 24 Feb 2014Volvo cites research showing that 60 percent of online shoppers had problems with their deliveries in 2013, and that missed first deliveries cost the industry roughly one billion euros ($1.37B US) in re-delivery costs, as impetus for its "Roam Delivery Service" that delivers packages to your car. The service uses Volvo On Call and Sensus Connect car-connectivity and telematics apps already installed in vehicles, and a digital key with a timed window of operation.
The car owner is notified if delivery to or pickup from the car would be the best option, which they then have the option to approve or decline. If approved, the position of the vehicle is sent to the delivery driver, as well as a digital key that can open the car. Once the delivery has been made, the owner is notified and the digital key is erased, leaving only a time stamp to record when the car was opened and then locked.
The technology will be shown to the public at the Mobile World Congress later this month. There's a video and a press release below with more on the details.
Volvo teases new electric SUV for 2023 reveal
Wed, Nov 9 2022At the launch of the Volvo EX90 flagship electric SUV, Volvo teased a new, smaller electric ute for reveal in 2023. At the end of the presentation (around 1:32:50), Volvo CEO Jim Rowan told media in attendance to look closely as animated graphics appeared on the screen behind the EX90. There, shrouded in darkness, we see the rear illumination of the EX90, with flashes of a smaller SUV appearing next to it briefly. Could this be an electric successor to the XC60, perhaps to be called the EX60? It looks like it could be smaller than the XC60, but it's hard to be sure in this dark image. We’ll have to wait until 2023 to know for sure. But Volvo has said it intends to release a new EV each year as it transitions to an all-electric lineup by 2030. Stay tuned.
