This is a great car that I have enjoyed and babied for the past 5 years. Fully LOADED. This car is in excellent mechanical condition, and has a clean and flawless interior. Exterior is in great shape with no body work. Only 58,800 miles on this car. It's kept in my heated garage at home and a heated garage at work. I get car washes weekly, get it serviced at the dealer with synthetic oil, and take very good care of it. It's a really fun car to drive with plenty of power, great handling, awesome traction in the snow, and tons of luxury features on the inside. I have the oringial window swicker that shows the sale price of $58,000 in 2007 and you can buy it now for less than $20k. Great deal. I have owned over a dozen Volvos in my life and this one is the nicest one. I'm selling it because I'm ready to move on to a new car. Below is a description of the features on it. You can also see all of the options in the picture of the window sticker. It's available for viewing or a test drive in Milwaukee, WI. If you are out of town I can work with you to load it on a shipping carrier, at your cost.
It is an awesome car. Black with tan leather. Dynaudio sound system with dolby 5.1 and serius. Ipod cable in the center console that allows you to play ipod music through the stereo. DVD Nav that pops up from the dash with a remote control for the passenger. Adaptive xenon headlights that turn corners. Keyless entry, start and locking the key never leaves your pocket. Laser cruise control that sets the speed from the car in front of you. Front and rear parking sensors. Bluetooth phone. Heated and ventilated front seats. Blind spot warning system. Crash prevention system that applies brakes if needed. Sport transmission that you can set from comfort/sport/advanced. 18" premium wheels. (some have a little curb rash). Tires are in great shape. These are dunlop winter sport m3 tires that are awesome in the snow. (You will probably want to get some summer timers or all season tires this spring. I previously had on some great hankooks that were $138 each.)
This is a great car that is ready for a new home. I never keep cars longer than 2 years, so it was time to trade up to a 2013 model. (I liked this car so much I kept it for 5 years!)
You aren't going to find another V8 with this kind of miles and this low of a reserve price anywhere!

Junkyard Gem: 1984 Volvo 242 DL
Sun, Aug 30 2020Volvo had tremendous success with the iconic 200 Series cars, selling them in North America from the 1975 model year all the way through 1993 (and if you count the Volvo 140, which was the same car from the A pillars rearward, the 240's history goes back to the middle 1960s). Nearly everybody who bought 240s on our continent did so in order to be safe and/or practical, which meant that the two-door version never sold anywhere near as well as its four-door and wagon brethren. Here's one of those rare 240 coupes (technically speaking, a two-door sedan), found in a San Jose car graveyard last winter. If you're going to be a stickler about the designation of this car as a two-door sedan and not as a coupe, you'll also want to call it by the name Volvo used when it was in the showroom: the 1984 Volvo DL. However, everybody in the Volvo world now prefers the original naming system that Volvo used for the 200s back home in Sweden, where you had 2 followed by a numeral indicating the number of engine cylinders and a numeral indicating the number of doors, with the trim-level code after that. So, what we have for today's Junkyard Gem is a Volvo 242 DL, i.e., the cheapest new 240 Americans could buy in 1984. You could get a turbocharged engine from the factory in the 1984 242, but this car has the ordinary naturally-aspirated 2.3-liter straight-four, rated at 111 horsepower. It also has the four-speed manual transmission with overdrive controlled by the button in the middle of the shift knob. Nearly 230,000 miles on the clock, which is decent for any 1980s car but not spectacular by Volvo 240 standards. Many Volvo enthusiasts prefer the smooth lines of the coupe to the stodgier sedans and wagons, and this one shows signs of ownership by someone who wasn't just about listening to NPR while driving safely to the natural-foods store. Sure enough, it has aftermarket springs and a non-factory rear sway bar. I wish I'd found these parts back in 2007, when I was helping to build a V8-swapped Volvo 244 road racer. The presence of the keys in a junkyard car, however, usually indicates that it was voluntarily let go by its final owner. Perhaps it was a dealership trade-in that proved to be impossible to sell due to a combination of three pedals, high miles, and lack of truck-shaped body. The interior looks like it might have been tolerable before it reached this place.
Lincoln Aviator vs Cadillac XT6 | How they compare on paper
Thu, Sep 5 2019There have been big, three-row family crossovers for quite a while now, but until recently the luxury market hasn't fully embraced them. Sure, you could literally get one with a third row, but unless you were a kid, chances are the term "dungeon-like" was going to be tossed around. Things are changing now, however, as new and redesigned entries are starting to hit the market. We've recently had a chance to get our first drives of the 2020 Lincoln Aviator and 2020 Cadillac XT6, two all-new three-row crossovers from American luxury brands. We also got a turn behind the wheel of the updated 2020 Volvo XC90. However, since none of our editors have yet to drive to drive them all, we wanted to see how they compare on paper, examining their engine specs and interior dimensions. We also included the 2020 Acura MDX, the original three-row luxury crossover, which continues to sell well despite approaching the end of its current generation. That it offers a hybrid model makes it that much more applicable given the Aviator and XC90 also offer gasoline-electric powertrains, albeit of the plug-in variety. 3 Row Luxury Crossovers Powertrains View 1 Photos Non-hybrid MDX has a 5,000-pound max tow rating. How do their performance and fuel economy compare? This one is absolutely no contest. The 400-horsepower Lincoln blows away its competitors despite having a price tag that's similar to the 310-horsepower Cadillac and in between the XC90's T5 and T6 models. At least the Acura is considerably cheaper. Besides the eye-popping output, the estimated 0-60-mph time of 5.5 seconds (gleaned from the mechanically similar Ford Explorer ST) is appreciably quicker than the others. Now, fuel economy is a bit lower, but the efficiency of Volvo's four-cylinder engines are likely more susceptible to varying due to driver differences. It should also be noted that the Cadillac gets the same combined fuel economy estimate as the Aviator despite having 90 fewer horses and 144 fewer pound-feet of torque. Just one of the ways where the XT6's prospects dim in the presence of its cross-Michigan rival. The Cadillac is also not available as a hybrid model. The others are, but are disparate. The Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring and Volvo XC90 T8 are similar in concept: range-topping models that are as much about adding performance as they are fuel economy. Their hefty price tags certainly reflect that as well.
How does a massive Volvo truck compare to a Koenigsegg on a track?
Tue, 11 Nov 2014Volvo Trucks thinks that its latest FH semi truck has a little sports car DNA mixed in with the ability to haul heavy loads thanks to its novel dual-clutch gearbox. And the company's marketing department certainly has an intriguing strategy to get the word out about the big rig's sporty traits. First, it staged a prank on an unsuspecting valet on the Italian Riviera, and now the FH has lined up a track battle around the Knutstorp racetrack against Sweden's ultimate supercar - a Koenigsegg One:1.
Fifth Gear host Tiff Needell takes the reins of the big Volvo and spends a little bit of time talking up its I-Shift Dual Clutch gearbox. However, the real fun is seeing the FH taking on the One:1. Of course, a head-to-head battle would hardly be fair against these extremely mismatched opponents. Instead, the challenge is for the 1,360-horsepower Koenigsegg to lap the track twice in the same time or less than the semi can do it once.
You just have to watch the video to see how if the big rig rises to the challenge. Also, scroll down to read Volvo Truck's press release touting the new gearbox, and check out the company's YouTube channel for more views of the race and a behind-the-scenes look.
