This sale includes one 1998 Volvo S70 GLT with several great features. Like many other Volvo sedans, this car is a workhorse that's been great around the city and also on road trips year-round. Overall this car looks great and clean from a cosmetic sense -- a potentially good car for a family, student heading to college, or a bachelor who does not mind a few imperfections for a car that runs great.

Please see the listings of many features for this car, which has 186,000 miles. Most of the miles I put on this car were during the last 2-3 years, driving from Atlanta to Oklahoma and/or Milwaukee (about 900 miles each stretch). I have not once had any issues during highway driving, usually getting in the 800-900 miles on 2.5 tanks of gas (16 gallon tank). Also gets good mileage and idles smooth and quiet in the city. In December 2013 replaced camshaft seal. Consistently starts, runs like butter since this repair. Replaced the battery in October 2013 (like new with AAA warranty). Radiator replaced in March 2013.

WHEELS AND BRAKES:

This Volvo S70 has new rear rotors and brake pads (one month ago), new rear tires and rotated (one month ago, driven 1,000 miles), new front brake pads (about a year ago) and new-ish front tires. Oil changes completed about every 4,000 miles (I have records for each, along with complete repair history since 2008). Replaced strut spring seat (left and right) in summer 2013. Left ball joint replaced Aug. 2012. Other ball joint work completed in 2010-11.

MUSIC AND OTHER FEATURES:

New wiper blades. CD and cassette player with surround sound that turns heads. Huge trunk, with rear seats that fold down and ski-slot in the rear seat arm rest. Gray or tan leather seats and matching Volvo floor mats all around. All of the power functions (windows, locks, mirrors, etc.) work great, though the sun roof has been temperamental in recent weeks (no leaks, and I keep it shut most of the time); radio antenna works though its retracting capability is broken (the motor still works but the up and down does not due to a slightly bent antenna, which picks up radio waves in the middle of nowhere). The passenger side front door does not unlock with the power lock, FYI (I am told this is a fuse issue), but other locks work fine. This car has one key for ignition and doors, and a separate key for the trunk.

COSMETIC ISSUES

The paint is black and overall is in good to very good shape with "normal" wear and tear for a car of its age (some small scratches from gravel or other cars' doors opened close to this car). As shown in photos, the rear corner of trunk on passenger side has a small (3-4 inch) dent, and the front bumper, which is covered with black plastic coating, has a few cracks as shown (from a car that backed into this car at slow speed). Rear bumper was replaced a few years ago when a car backed into this car as slow speed in parking lot (tore off my rear bumper but was replaced by insurance, I have records of this repair and there was no damage to body of car). I spilled a large iced tea in the driver's floor area and a lot of dirt accumulated in spite of cleaning -- I think a deep cleaning and/or carpet shampoo will resolve this (I just didn't make time yet to try). Car now has recently-replaced double cup holders in center console to prevent future spills. This is a NO SMOKING car (it came only with covers for the cigarette lighters next to gear shifter and in center console of rear seat, so you may charge a phone and run GPS from both lighter plugs). One tiny ding (very small) on windshield on far left side (passenger side).

HOW IT RUNS AND LIGHTS THAT COME ON WHEN STARTED:

When this car is started, four lights come on (on the dashboard): 1. ABS light  2. Tracks off light   3. Service light (this light consistently goes off after one minute of engine running and car in motion, and 4. Add washer fluid light (the washer fluid reservoir has a crack in it so needs to be replaced).  The "check engine" light comes on every year, usually about a month after I spent a bunch to get the engine fixed to pass Georgia emissions (I have year by year records of work completed to pass emissions and will provide more detail to those who inquire -- most recently passed emissions in May 2014 through replacement of vacuum hoses, A.I.R. System Reactor Pump). Replaced heater hoses and turbo hose in Oct. 2010. Replaced O2 sensor in May 2010. Replaced lock cylinder in Nov. 2009.

AIR CONDITIONING:

Notes about the air conditioning: The fans work great. With that said, I put in Freon in summer 2012 and the cold-factor has been hit or miss at best in spite of replacement of air compre$$or. The heater works great -- will be super hot heated air in seconds during winter. But as with other Volvos of the 1990s (and other decades) the Swedish did not master air conditioning (not as much need for it in Scandinavia, I suppose). I've grown to tolerate having little or no A/C cool air, but this is an item others may wish to address. I can provide receipts and records of A/C repairs (including Freon installation) which may, through process of elimination, help the new owner get the A/C to the coolness of their choosing. Both of the front seat warmers will cook your rear end within a minute of turning on in winter.

I am selling this car "as is" with no warranty, no return. This is a good car and I have spent a lot of time with this listing to fully disclose all the recent history or offer to share more details as requested. Buyer should ask any or all questions BEFORE bidding. A bid means you the buyer understands this car sale is "as is" with no discussion after sale concludes. Test drives are available by request during afternoons and evenings (1 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST) -- the car may be viewed or test driven by serious bidders. Please email me via Ebay for details. THIS CAR IS CURRENTLY IN EDMOND, OKLA., AND MUST BE PICKED UP IN PERSON BY WINNING BIDDER. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKUP LOCALLY. I will not ship this car nor deliver it. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY.

VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING:

The winning bidder MUST COMPLETE PAYMENT VIA PAYPAL, CASHIER'S CHECK OR IN PERSON PAYMENT ON OR BEFORE MONDAY, JUNE 23 AT 1 P.M. CENTRAL STANDARD TIME. I AM LEAVING TOWN AND MUST COMPLETE THIS SALE BEFORE 1 P.M. CST ON JUNE 23. NO EXCEPTIONS. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO COMPLETE PAYMENT AND PICK UP THE CAR ON SATURDAY, JUNE 21 or MONDAY JUNE 23. NO EXCEPTIONS.

I have 100 percent positive feedback and sold two other cars on Ebay (in 2004 and 2008). Please email me questions. I look forward to helping this great car find a new home. Thank you for your time and interest (and BIDS).

2025 Volvo EX30 First Drive Review: Little big time

Mon, Nov 6 2023

BARCELONA, Spain — Priced from $36,245, including $1,295 for destination, the new EX30 is VolvoÂ’s least-expensive car. But make no mistake, thereÂ’s nothing cheap about this subcompact electric crossover. From its solid road manners to its clever use of interior textiles, this little cutie is comfortable, competent and bursting with charm. We'll get the EX30 in Single Motor Extended Range and Twin Motor Performance variants when it goes on sale in the U.S. early next year. Both models are powered by a 69-kilowatt-hour battery pack – 64 kWh of which is usable – that can be replenished at a maximum charging rate of 153 kW. Volvo says youÂ’ll only need 27 minutes to take the EX30 from a 10% to 80% state of charge, but thatÂ’s assuming the battery is properly preconditioned, the charger youÂ’re plugged into actually works correctly, the planets are all aligned, etc. The Single MotorÂ’s, um, single motor is mounted to the rear axle, producing 268 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. ThisÂ’ll get the EX30 to 60 mph in a perfectly respectable 5.1 seconds, and Volvo estimates a 275-mile driving range for this configuration – though not if youÂ’re testing that aforementioned launch time on the regular, of course. The Twin Motor Performance has the same rear drive unit, but adds a second motor to the EX30Â’s front axle for a total output of 422 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. ThatÂ’s a whole heck of a lot of power – even for a 4,140-pound crossover – and my goodness, does this EX30 scoot. Put the EX30 Twin Motor into its Performance AWD setting, stomp the throttle and youÂ’ll hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. That makes the EX30 VolvoÂ’s quickest accelerating production car ever. Nifty as that is, however, after a day of driving the EX30 on winding Spanish country roads and darting through traffic in BarcelonaÂ’s busy city center, I think the Single Motor is the way to go. Remember, even the pokiest EVs still feel quick thanks to instant electric torque, and at no point does the Single Motor EX30 ever feel like it canÂ’t get out of its own way. Beyond that, though, the EX30 Single Motor is simply more fun to drive. At 3,858 pounds, the rear-drive EX30 is 282 pounds lighter than the AWD version, and all that weight comes off the front end. This makes VolvoÂ’s tiny EV feel more playful and agile while cornering, especially with the well-weighted steering – not to mention the fun-to-handle squircle wheel.

Volvo Cars' earnings top pre-pandemic levels in boost ahead of possible IPO

Fri, Jul 23 2021

STOCKHOLM — Volvo Cars reported a return to profit in the first half as demand for electric cars pushed earnings above pre-pandemic levels, putting the carmaker on a firmer footing as it considers a possible IPO this year. Sweden-based Volvo, owned by China's Geely Holding, said on Friday it made a first-half profit of 13.24 billion Swedish crowns ($1.52 billion), more than double its profit of 5.52 billion crowns in the corresponding period of 2019, before the coronavirus struck. Like several other automakers Volvo has been forced to cut production due to global shortages of semiconductors, but it said a strong market recovery from last year's plunge during the pandemic helped first-half revenue rise by 26% to 141 billion crowns. "The pandemic effect, when it comes to our business, we don't see it anymore," Chief Executive Hakan Samuelsson told Reuters. "All our employees have not been vaccinated yet, but sales and production are really back to where we were." The company, which is eyeing an initial public offering before the end of this year, said all its regions showed solid growth and improved market shares, with chargeable cars representing 25% of total sales. Samuelsson said the evaluation process ahead of a potential IPO was progressing according to plan, adding the firm was still considering listing on the Stockholm stock exchange in the second half of 2021. "The company stands stronger than ever and we are in the midst of a very substantial transformation ... It has to be financed and access to the stock market is of course positive then," Samuelsson said. Volvo Cars had been heavily affected at the start of the pandemic, plunging to a 989 million loss in the first half of 2020. The company on Friday kept its second-half outlook for flat sales and revenue growth year on year, "unless supply of semiconductors improves". It said earlier this month that first-half sales rose 41% to 380,757 cars. The Gothenburg-based firm plans to become a fully electric car maker by 2030, sell 600,000 battery electric vehicles at mid-decade, and build a European battery gigafactory in 2026.
