CAR HAS PLENTY OF POWER, PULLS STRONG AND DRIVES LIKE NEW. A WELL TAKEN CARE OF SUNNY FLORIDA CAR!!!!!!

I‘VE HAD THE PLEASURE OF OWNING 3 PARTICULAR VOLVO’S DURING MY LIFE AND ALL WERE FACTORY TRUE “R” CARS…….  INCLUDING A 1995 850 T5-R, LATER ON A 1997 850-R, AND CURRENTLY WHAT YOU SEE HERE A 2006 S60-R. DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE NEWER VOLVO LINEUP OF “R-DESIGN” MODELS. THEY ARE BASICALLY JUST AESTHETICS ADD ONS AND NOTHING MORE. –THAT’S MY OPINION!

I REALLY HATE TO SELL THIS EXCLUSIVE CAR, BUT THE ONLY REASON FOR MOVING-ON IS THAT I NEEDED MORE REAR CARGO ROOM. UNFORTUNATELY, VOLVO HAS NOT ANSWERED THE CALLING FOR A TRUE “R” SUV, SO IN THE INTERIM, I MOVED ON AND PURCHASED A BMW X5-“M” SUV THIS WEEK.

THE S60-R HAS APPROXIMATELY 74,500 MILES AND REQUIRES NOTHING MORE THAN A NEW DRIVER AND NICE RADAR DETECTOR!  AGAIN, IT DRIVES PERFECT, PULLS STRONG, LOOKS GREAT, AND TURNS HEADS FOR A SECOND LOOK. PLEASE DO KEEP IN MIND THAT IT IS AN 8 YEAR OLD CAR AND IS DRIVEN DAILY SO WEAR AND TEAR SHOULD BE EXPECTED.  HOPEFULLY A VOLVO ENTHUSIAST OUT THERE CAN ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I HAVE.

A FEW THINGS TO NOTE:  EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE A CHECK MESSAGE ON THE DASH APPEARS FOR THE ACTIVE SUSPENSION. I HAVE HAD MY VOLVO DEALER CHECK IT OUT AND THE MASTER TECH WHO WORKS ON MY CAR RAN A COMPLETE “VIDA” DIAGNOSTIC AS WELL AS PERFORMED A “S.U.M” RECALIBRATION (VOLVOS OWN SOFTWARE MODULE). IT BASICALLY INDICATED THAT A RANDOM LOW VOLTAGE SIGNAL READING WAS APPEARING ON AND OFF ON THE LEFT FRONT DRIVERS SHOCK ABSORBER. I WAS TOLD BY THE MASTER TECH, WHO ALSO OWNS AN S60-R, THAT IF IT CONTINUES TO DRIVE AND FUNCTON LIKE NORMAL, THEN  NOT TO BOTHER WITH IT UNTIL LATER ON DOWN THE ROAD. FROM WHAT HE TOLD ME AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE AMONG MANY S60R OWNERS. NEVERTHELESS, I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR FOR WELL OVER 5,000 PLUS MILES SINCE THEN AND THE SUSPENSION STILL FUNCTIONS AND DRIVES LIKE NORMAL EVEN THOUGH THE MESSAGE POPS UP ON THE DASH EVERY NOW AND THEN.

LASTLY, ONE COSMETIC ISSUE TO NOTE IS THAT THE LOWER BOTTOM PORTION OF THE FRONT BUMPER HAS A 2-3 INCH CRACK IN THE PLASTIC UNDERSIDE WHICH IS NOT VERY NOTICABLE FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THIS WAS CAUSED BY MY OWN FAULT WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT LATE ONE EVENING. AS YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED THE CAR SITS RATHER LOW TO THE GROUND, AND UNFORTUNATLY THE LOWER FRONT BUMPER COVER WENT OVER A BROKEN PARKING STOP AND SNAGGED ON IT WHEN REVERSE OUT. SINCE THEN, I HAVE LEFT IT ALONE AND IT’S NOT THAT NOTICABLE UNLESS YOU LAY DOWN IN FRONT OF THE BUMPER AND LOOK UP UNDER THE COVER.

OVERALL THE CAR IS IN GREAT SHAPE AND HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY. ALL BOOKS AND MANUALS AND ONE KEY ARE INCLUDED.   I HAVE A CLEAN FLORIDA TITLE IN HAND AND IS READY FOR TRANSFER TO A NEW OWNER.

THE CAR IS ALSO FOR SALE LOCALLY SO I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION AT ANY TIME. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OR ALL PICK-UPS. WINNING BIDDER MUST COMPLETE TRANSACTION AND TAKE POSSESSION OF CAR WITHIN 5 DAYS. THE CAR IS BEING SOLD AS-IS WITH NO WARRANTY. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT I DRIVE THIS CAR DAILY SO MILEAGE MAY VARY. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT TO ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AND AS ALWAYS, PLEASE BID WITH CONFIDENCE AS I HAVE A PERFECT FEEDBACK SCORE AND BELIEVE IN HONESTY AND FAIRNESS. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK!

Volvo XC40 delayed because it's too big for its own good?

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

As fuel prices rise and greenhouse gases poke holes in the ozone, big, gas-guzzling sports utility vehicles are becoming less popular as smaller, cleaner vehicles, such as crossovers, gain market share. Volvo is late to the small crossover party, though it wants to build the XC40 crossover to compete with the Land Rover Evoque. The only problem with that, Autocar reports, is that a suitable (read: small enough) platform for it is up to five years away, despite a hopeful photos of it in testing guise.
Volvo is currently developing a new platform, called SPA (Scaleable Platform Architecture), to underpin its next-generation of vehicles, such as the 2014 XC60 pictured above and the S60 sedan, which is likely the smallest vehicle that would be able to use the new platform. Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be a quick fix for the gaping hole in Volvo's lineup, and Geely, the Chinese budget car manufacturer that owns Volvo, is reportedly preparing to launch a mid-market brand that may or may not be sold outside of China.
Can't Swedish car manufacturers catch a break?

Next-generation Volvo XC90 could wear the Embla nameplate

Fri, Jan 21 2022

Volvo's next-generation XC90 will have a lot of firsts on its resume. It will inaugurate an evolution of the modular SPA2 platform that underpins the current model, it will be available with a new suite of driver assistance features, and it will reportedly adopt the Embla name. Citing a trademark application filed in Europe in 2021, British magazine Autocar believes it has uncovered the big SUV's new name. While a trademark or a patent filing is never a guarantee that a feature, a name or a car is right around the corner, we know that Volvo plans to ditch its alphanumerical naming system in the near future to start giving its cars real names. "We're going to give cars a name as you give a newborn child," explained outgoing company boss Hakan Samuelsson. He also confirmed the next XC90's name will start with a vowel. Embla, your author just learned, is the first woman created by the gods according to Norse mythology. Its etymology is seemingly lost to history. It appears that Volvo wants to build on the Thor's Hammer lights and continue putting its Swedish heritage front and center. Viewed in that light, Embla is a relatively good choice. It's reasonably easy to pronounce, even for folks outside of Scandinavia, and it's original; it's likely not a name that you hear on a daily basis. It's also relatively soft — Volvo Yggdrasil Recharge arguably has less of a ring to it.  Unofficial morsels of information allow us to piece together a vague idea of what to expect from the Embla. We hear the SUV will be loosely related to the Concept Recharge design study (pictured) that Volvo introduced in November 2021. If that's accurate, it won't look anything like the model that's currently in showrooms. It will be longer, higher off the ground, and built on a much longer wheelbase. Details about the powertrain are conflicting: some sources say the Embla will be entirely electric, while others believe it will also be available as a hybrid. Volvo is expected to unveil the Embla before the end of 2022, and the crossover will arrive in showrooms as either a 2023 or a 2024 model. An earlier report claims that production will take place near Charleston, South Carolina, where the firm currently builds the S60 sedan. And, to complete the history lesson: the first man created by the gods in Norse mythology was named Ask.  Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. 2021 Volvo XC90 Recharge Road Test Review | I could've had a T8!

Tue, Mar 16 2021

Second thoughts … sometimes even buyerÂ’s remorse. Nagging doubts can follow life's big decisions — and buying a car is a biggie. Was it the right choice? Or as the poet said: "You may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile / And you may ask yourself, 'Well, how did I get here?'" Two years ago, I bought a 2017 Volvo XC90 lease return with 11,000 miles on it. I hadnÂ’t expected to find an XC90 within my budget, but this one was attractively priced because it, A) was a T5, meaning turbo-only; B) had the base Momentum interior; and C) was a third-row delete, which was a turnoff to other car shoppers. Otherwise, it was heavily optioned and seemed like it would serve my family well and keep them safe. And it has. It has lots of room. It drives as well as any medium-large SUV can. The tough leatherette endures the abuse of dogs and kids and the dirt of outdoor activities. The legendary Volvo seats have comforted and supported us, even on a 750-mile day from California to Washington. We've routinely seen highway mileage go past 30 mpg. And the off-road mode was surefooted during last month's nationwide snowfall. The carÂ’s great. And yet, while at the Volvo dealership for complimentary service, sipping the waiting-room coffee and wandering the showroom, you see the cars you could have bought, had you spent more money — a turbo-and-supercharged T6, or the twin-charged-plus-plug-in-hybrid Recharge (previously known by the powertrain's name of T8). And with Volvo's elegant Inscription interiors. Would they have provided a better ownership experience than our secondhand lower-rung model? One doesnÂ’t often get a do-over to answer such questions. But a recent week in a 2021 Volvo XC90 Recharge provided a drive down the nicer road not taken. The differences between a 2017 T5 Momentum and the 2021 Recharge Inscription are many, and also few. They're basically the same car, same dimensions inside and out, same overall feel. Panoramic sunroof, same. Massive cargo hold, same — though because ours lacks the third row, it gains a large secret underfloor storage compartment. Both XC90s have roof rails, but the rails on the new car are flush-mounted versus the '17's raised rails (youÂ’d need different crossbar towers for each).
