Condition:  This vehicle has been taken care of since i acquired it last May 1, 2013.  There was 96,447 miles when I purchased this vehicle. Vehicle currently has 118,778 gentle miles that I personally placed on the vehicle.  This vehicle has some dents, dings, and scratches.  However, vehicle looks really nice especially after a car wash and waxing.  The vehicles drive train works excellent.  A fuel efficent 4 cylinder that has a turbo incase you need to get somewhere quickly.  The car has great acceleration and sound braking system when necessary.

Features: I replaced all four tires recently.  Front tires are Falken 195 60/R15 88H, Rear tires are Good Year 195 60/R15 88T.  The tires have about 5,000 miles on them.  This car is a 2003 and the alignment is slightly off.  One can see this by the front tire wear.  I kept proper tire pressure in all four tires the entire time I owned this vehicle.  Now may be a good time to do a tire rotation. Simply switch the fronts with the rear. You cannot place the rear tires on the opposite side of the car they are on currently.  They are special rotation tires and must be kept on that side of the vehicle they were originally installed on.  However, you can place them up front being that they have excellent tread.

I replaced the ICV valve when i purchased the vehicle, the spark plugs, the coil pack for all 4 cylinders, fuel filter, air filter, thermostat, cooling hose & rear brake pads.  There are no chips or cracks in the windshield.  The front brake pads are wearing down evenly and will need replacment next 5,000 to 6,000 miles from today.  It may make sense to replace the vehicles front & rear brake rotors.  The rear rotors brand new not refurbished are $65.00 for the pair.  The front rotors are slightly more expensive due to more metal they were around $70.00 or so for the pair.  AUTOZONE is the best for anything needed.  When they couldnt provide me with a part or generic replacement I would go to Volvo in Wall township.  They have a friendly parts desk that can get their hands on anything Volvo.

History:  This vehcile had two other owners. Owner one sold this vehicle with 74,067 miles on drive train.  The second owner decided to trade this vehicle in to MB Motor Sports in Tinton falls NJ with 96,132 miles on the drive train.  I then purchased this vehcile with a down payment on May 1, 2013.  Every 2,000 miles I consistently changed the vehicles oil with CITGO SUPERGARD synthetic blend 5W 30 oil.  Every other oil change I would change the oil filter.  I have the proper oil filter wrench for this Volvo 1.9 Litre Motor. The motor runs strong and the vehicle get's great gas mileage.  Vehicle shifts strong, in and out of gears, and reverse works smoothly.

PLEASE READ FINANCING ATTACHED TO VEHICLE                                                                                                                                                                                          This vehicle currently has financing with Leaders Financial Company (www.leadersfc.com).  If buyer decides to purchase vehcile the full sales price must be given to me the seller.  At that point I will then deposit funds into checking account.  The check may take 2-3 business days to clear into my account.  At that point I can pay off the car note with Leaders Financial Company.  Once paid in full they will send me a car note pay off, and clear bill of sale vehicle title.  I would sign over the vehicles bill of sale/title to the purchaser.  From that moment  the buyer would officially own title and bill of sale.  Clearly they would have to goto motor vehicle to obtain registration, plates, and switch title officially to their name.

I will execute a sales contract with buyer explaining how title will be released to buyer once the current lender is paid in full.  I will detail the process of title/bill of sale release in the sales contract then sign and date.  Buyer could show their attorney this contract and keep one for their files.

Junkyard Gem: 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon

Sat, May 18 2024

Volvo began selling brick-shaped rear-wheel-drive station wagons in the United States with the 145 in the 1968 model year, continuing the tradition with the 200, 700 and 900 series wagons and all the way through the very last 1998 V90s. The benefits of front-wheel-drive proved impossible for those Goteborgers to resist, though, and so the 850 was developed. The 850 sedan first appeared in the United States as a 1993 model, with the wagon version following in 1994. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those first-year 850 wagons, found in a Colorado Springs self-service yard recently. The 850 wasn't the first production Volvo with front-wheel-drive (the 1986 Volvo 480 beat it to European showrooms), but it was the first one available on our continent. The base 1994 Volvo 850 wagon for the U.S. market had a 2.4-liter DOHC straight-five rated at 168 horsepower and 162 pound-feet, but this car has the turbocharged version with its 222 horses and 221 pound-feet. American buyers of the 1994 Volvo 850 had the choice of a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Most took the automatic. This car is a loaded model with power sunroof and other goodies in addition to the slushbox, so its MSRP was $30,985 (about $66,194 in 2024 dollars). This was a bit less than a similarly equipped 960 wagon (which listed at $34,950, or $74,665 after inflation). The antiquated but reliable 240 wagon had been discontinued the year before, with the 740 wagon getting the axe the year before that). This car just made it past the 200,000-mile mark during its career on the road. That's respectable, though I've found discarded Volvos that made it beyond 400,000 miles (and one that got to 631,999). The interior looked pretty good before someone smashed all the windows. Perhaps vandalism sent a running car to this place. Someone was kind enough to write down the security code on the factory radio. Drive safely. For those of you who hate to commute but adore driving.

Weekly Recap: Volvo buys Polestar, makes performance a priority

Sat, Jul 18 2015

Volvo is taking its performance business in-house, and the Swedish carmaker announced Tuesday that it bought tuning company Polestar, which has long been known for producing sporty Volvos. The move allows Volvo to ramp up its performance business, and it plans to increase Polestar-branded vehicle sales to 1,000 to 1,500 annually, up from the 750 total projected for this year. The companies have been working together on motorsports projects since 1996. Financial terms of the sale were not released, and Polestar workers will move over to Volvo. Former Polestar owner Christian Dahl will keep control of the Polestar racing team and operate it under a new name. In addition to sales volume, Volvo has ambitious plans for other parts of Polestar, including its aftermarket business. Volvo also said it will use its twin-engine hybrid technology for Polestar models in the future, though specifics and timing were not revealed. Meanwhile, Volvo announced it will offer a run of 265 total Polestars in the United States for the 2016 model year, with S60 and V60s available. "Driving a Volvo Polestar is a special experience. We have decided to bring this experience to more Volvo drivers, placing the full resources of Volvo behind the development of Polestar as the model name for our high performance cars," Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES 2016 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, get nose jobs Automakers tend to refer to light updates as 'facelifts,' and that's exactly what Chevy gave the 2016 Silverado and GMC Sierra. Chevy slightly changed the front end of the truck. Using the one photo released of the new Z71 model as a guide, we can see that the headlights went from a stacked vertical design to single bulbs, and they are set on top of LED running lights. The grille has more body-colored elements instead of shiny metal, and the hood has a new line running down the middle (look really closely). The design theme will be similar across the portfolio, though materials and details will vary, a spokesman said. Some models, like the High Country and LTZ will have more chrome, and the LEDs are only for the upper trims. Chevy also said it will use the eight-speed automatic transmission on more versions of the Silverado, and it updated the MyLink feature to support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

All-new Volvo VNL Class 8 tractor loads up on car-like features

Thu, Feb 1 2024

A few months ago, we wrote about the public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy and Class 8 truck makers to create concepts called SuperTrucks. The four manufacturers involved designed lighter, more aerodynamic, and more fuel-frugal trucks to hit escalating freight efficiency targets in each phase of the program. Daimler, Navistar, Peterbilt, and Volvo spent the past 18 months showing the results of the SuperTruck 2 phase while work gets going on SuperTruck 3. This month, Volvo becomes the first of that group to debut an all-new truck incorporating lessons learned in the SuperTruck program. Starting with a clean sheet of paper, the new Volvo VNL is said to be as much as 10% more fuel efficient than before, a stat to get fleet managers and owner-operators to pay attention. Even carmakers tout a 10% increase in fuel economy, and the benefit — like the size — is so much larger in trucks. Let's keep it easy and say a solo driver does 100,000 miles in a year in a truck that averages 7 miles per gallon. That driver needs 14,286 gallons of diesel to do those miles; at $4 per gallon, that's $57,144. If the VNL driver gets 10% better fuel economy and his truck returns 7.7 miles per gallon, this driver only needs 12,987 gallons of diesel, and pays only $51,948. Tell a fleet manager they can save $5,000 per truck, and assuming a sensible purchase price and consistent reliability costs, that fleet manager is going to want to set up a meeting. Just as with car redesigns, a lot of little changes went into this, some we'll recognize from the car world. The VNL's cab adopts a stronger wedge shape and sharper corners. Instead of the usual large, flat windshield sealed with a gasket, the new VNL gets a curved windshield bonded to the body. Tighter gaps between exterior components like the bumper and hood leave fewer spaces for turbulent, draggy air to develop. Volvo also reworked the area behind the cab to reduce one of the greatest aerodynamic maelstroms, the gap between cab and trailer. The D13 engine up front is said to be more fuel efficient and more durable, offering a range of outputs from 405 to 500 horsepower and from 1,748 to 1,947 pound-feet of torque. Considering that the first VNL generation lasted 22 years before a major redesign, from 1996 to 2018, Volvo incorporated powertrain flexibility into this one.
