1995 Volvo 850 GLT Wagon NO RESERVE!

Thank you for viewing my auction.  Up for sale is a nice 1995 Volvo 850 GLT Wagon.  This Volvo is finished in Polo Green with a tan leather interior.  The mileage reads 162,650.  This 850 is a very solid driver!  The engine is a 2.4L DOHC 20 Valve 5 cylinder non-turbo, mated to a automatic transmission.

The features include a power moon roof, heated power leather seats, power locks, cruise control, power heated mirrors, and a fold down child car seat.

Condition:  The paint appears to be all original with no signs of an accident.  The body is all around straight, there are some scratches and small dents here and there but remember this is a 1995 car.  The rear bumper needs new mounting brackets, it is sagging a bit in the back.  The passenger side front corner marker light needs to be replaced because the plastic is cracked.  Also, the passenger front headlamp wiper arm is missing.  The leather interior shows well, the leather is cracking in some spots.  The driver seat bolster has a tare (see pic).  The head liner is in good condition with the exception of the sunroof slide cover missing the fabric upholstery.

Mechanically:  The car drives solid 100%.  The engine is clean and quiet.  The transmission shifts great with no issue.  I have service receipts on hand from the previous owner.  Please note, the odometer is not working.  The title is clear and shows the exact mileage!  I have 2 sets of keys as well!

08/17/12-$2,057.78-Oil change, fuel filter, two rear Bilstein shocks, full tune up, 4 new tires, wheel alignment, transmission service.

08/20/12-$890.24-New mass air flow sensor, front oxygen sensor, rear oxygen sensor.

As you can tell, money was put into the car recently.  The car was used as a secondary car for a daily short commute to a train station.  I have NO RESERVE set on this car.  Bid with confidence here, you are buying a great car!

Volvo Trucks makes some pretty strong brakes

Mon, 05 May 2014

Often dashcam footage from Russia shows some of the worst driving imaginable, but this is an exception. The Volvo truck driver in this video definitely earned himself a drink or two at the end of the day after making it through this potentially horrific crash. As do the folks at Volvo that engineered those brakes.
The truck driver shows some fantastic reaction time as the silver hatchback suddenly pulls out of an intersection. It looks like he only has a few yards to bring the behemoth to a stop before demolishing the little car. While it's an impressive feat, the best part of the video has to be the driver's bow when he gets out of the truck. He looks like a maestro who just finished conducting a symphony asking for a round of applause.
Scroll down to check out this truck driver's skills and see if he earns his bow afterward.

Daimler and Volvo could jointly develop internal combustion engines

Sun, Jan 5 2020

BERLIN — Luxury German carmaker Daimler and Volvo, owned by China's Geely, are considering cooperating to cut the costs of developing combustion engines, a magazine reported on Sunday, citing unnamed company sources. The Automobilwoche weekly cited a Volvo manager as saying there were initial talks with Daimler, but no concrete plans, while a company spokesman said it was too early to talk about firm projects, although it was not excluding anybody. A Daimler spokesman said the company's cooperation with Geely, which owns a 10% stake in the German carmaker, was developing in a positive way, but declined to comment further. Global tariffs, accelerated by a trade war between China and the United States, as well as higher investment requirements for electric and autonomous vehicles, are forcing carmakers to seek new ways to cut and share costs. In October, Volvo said it would merge its engine development and manufacturing assets with those of Geely, creating a division to supply in-house brands and also potentially others with next-generation combustion and hybrid engines. Automobilwoche said this new division would start operating by the end of March, which could be a possible starting point for cooperation with Daimler, while a further step could be a partnership to develop electric power trains. Geely and Daimler have said they plan to build the next generation of Smart electric cars in China through a joint venture and the two companies are also cooperating on a premium ride-hailing service in China. Geely bought Volvo Cars in 2010 from Ford, allowing the Swedish brand to operate on an arms-length basis. But in recent years, it has deepened cooperation between the two brands. Volvo already supplies engines to some Geely-branded vehicles, sharing technology through Geely's Lynk brand. Both companies share and develop common vehicle platforms. 2024 Volvo XC60 Review: Ignore the Germans, go Swedish

Fri, Oct 13 2023

Pros: Elegant styling and beautiful cabin; spacious for the segment; excellent plug-in hybrid option; solid value Cons: Middling handling; pricey and strange Polestar performance model There's no doubt that European luxury SUVs are dominated by German carmakers. But what if you're looking for something a bit different? The 2024 Volvo XC60 may be the alternative you've been seeking, with unique Scandinavian design inside and out. Add in Volvo's commitment to safety, which should be of particular importance to family-minded shoppers, and the XC60 should have even stronger appeal. The XC60 is available as either a mild-hybrid or a more powerful Recharge plug-in hybrid, which can drive as many as 36 miles on electricity alone. We're certainly fans of the plug-in model, but its significant price premium may have shoppers settling on the more-than-adequate B5 base engine. More likely than not, prospective owners will spend more time configuring the interior. There are several choices of upholstery and interior trim that should fit a variety of tastes, and we're especially fond of the wool blend seats that are available on the Recharge. The XC60 isn't as sporty as the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC or Audi Q5, but that shouldn't matter much for the typical SUV driver. If you're one of the rare drivers who wants more athletic handling, the Polestar Engineered model should satisfy, but it comes at the cost of ride comfort. Considering the similarly sized Volvo V60 wagon would perhaps be a stronger alternative, including the raised, all-wheel-drive Cross Country model. Whichever route you take, the 2024 Volvo XC60 is a classy, safe and sensible alternative to the more common luxury SUVs. Interior & Technology   |   Passenger & Cargo Space   |   Performance & Fuel Economy What it's like to drive   |   Pricing & Trim Levels   |   Crash Ratings & Safety Features What's new for 2024? The XC60 lineup gets pared down a bit. The base B5 engine is no longer offered with front-wheel-drive and the more powerful B6 engine has been discontinued. There are some additions, though, including an air purifier for Plus and Ultimate trims and laminated windows for the Ultimate. A new Black Edition appearance package also debuts for the top trim. What are the XC60 interior and in-car technology like? Volvo’s attractive and refined shape is mirrored in its stylish, welcoming interiors.
