Volvo 1969 1800 S, Restored, Overdrive New Bmw Heated Leather Seats Nice Car on 2040-cars
Medford, Oregon, United States
|
I am reducing my sports car collection and therefor selling my restored 1969 Volvo 1800S sports coupe. It has recently been restored with many new parts including engine rebuild by prior owner. It was repainted in Oakland Raider colors by the prior owner a Raider Fan. She spend a lot of money on the restoration to make this a desirable driving Volvo that should increase in value over time. It has twin Carbs and is much more user friendly that the later injected model. It has the smaller desireable chrome bumpers, great working overdrive and new brakes and running gear. It was not a full body off restoration but rather "ground up" hence it is not a #1 car but I rate it as a #2 clean but not prestine.
We did not like the old Volvo seats and had access to two newer BMW coupe, leather heated power seats which we installed. I would feel comfortable driving this Volvo most anywhere but is you want to trailer her I a compact two wheel car trailer that fits her nicely and will sell it with the car for $900 over the auction price. We have set a very reasonable reserve and it should be met. So bid to own. If you have less than 10 positive ratings please don't bid without contaction me for approval. You may see the Volve and a test drive and inspection is encouraged. As with all used vehicles it is sold as is here in Medford, Oregon. I will help shipping if desired. If you have questions please email me at whf2929@aol.com or call me at 541 944 2929 and I will try to answer them. Thanks for looking and bidding. It is for sale. I am approaching 80 and sports cars are too hard to enter with this stoved up body. On Mar-02-14 at 11:46:36 PST, seller added the following information: Just read where a 1969 Volvo 1800S set the Worlds record to mileage by one owner cars, 3 Million Miles and still counting. Reliable? you betcha |

Volvos will brake for bicyclists with new detection technology
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Anyone who pedals a bicycle knows that one of the biggest dangers to riders is a motorized vehicle - Volvo estimates that nearly 50 percent of all cyclists killed in European traffic have collided with a car. In the United States alone, 618 riders lost their lives in bicycle/motor vehicle crashes in 2010, and the number of injuries surpassed 52,000.
To help drop those numbers, Volvo has just announced Cyclist Detection with full auto brake - a technology that detects and automatically applies a vehicle's brakes when a cyclist swerves in front of a moving car. The basic components of the system include a radar unit integrated into the front grille, a camera fitted in front of the interior rear-view mirror and a central control unit. The radar is tasked with seeing obstacles in front of the vehicle and calculating distance, while the camera is responsible to determine what the object is. The central control unit, with rapid processing capabilities, monitors and evaluates the situation.
The technology, which will be sold bundled with its Pedestrian Detection and called Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, will automatically apply full braking when both the radar and camera confirm a pedestrian or cyclist are in the immediate path of the vehicle. According to the automaker, the technology will be offered on the Volvo V40, S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80 models from mid-May in 2013.
Volvo uncovers widespread cheating by its Chinese dealers
Tue, 26 Mar 2013According to a report in Reuters, the findings of an internal investigation conducted by Geely-owned Volvo is that its Chinese dealers vastly overreported their sales numbers in 2011, then even more vastly underreported their 2012 sales figures. About "half the dealers" out of the 151 total outlets gamed the system in order to get incentives for reaching volume objectives, falsely recording about 7,000 more units sold than was actually the case. Instead of 47,140 cars sold in China in 2011, the real number should have been 39,871.
Volvo corporate books a sale once it ships a car to a dealer, so that meant there were 7,000 more cars in inventory than there should have been. To restore the balance, the dealers underreported their 2012 sales while they unloaded those extra cars since, naturally, they couldn't claim the sale again. That made it look like sales declined by 11 percent in 2012, even though they actually increased year-on-year. The adjusted sales number for 2012 totalled 45,896.
Volvo has met with its dealers and told them to stop the deceitful practice. The discrepancies weren't so great that the company plans to restate its historic numbers, but from now on, it apparently plans to occasionally check inventory to make sure the numbers match and that it has a true picture of how individual models are selling.
Volvo's European EX30 launch plagued by software issues, refunds
Tue, Jul 2 2024Are we ready to include crippling software problems in electric vehicles part of "the new normal?" If so, we'd think little of it. We're most surprised by Volvo being the reason for asking the question. The Swedes had to postpone production of their flagship 2025 EX90 due to software issues. Then, after crowing about starting production, we find out the automaker's informed buyers that their EX90's might not be complete upon delivery, waiting for over-the-air updates to restore functionality that buyers of an $80,000 would expect to come with their vehicle. Overseas, the EX30 appears to be in even more trouble, its software reminding us of the problems Volkswagen had with its ID.3 and Chevy had with its Blazer EV on launch. Autocar reports that the glitches "range from screens going black and steering-wheel buttons not responding to cars not charging and even emergency braking systems randomly activating," as well as "bricked infotainment touchscreens, incorrect information displayed (such as time and range), profiles reverting back to factory settings and driver aids failing." Some customers are reportedly returning their cars to Volvo for full refunds. The automaker told Autocar the EX30 remains on sale, but in the UK, Volvo's pushed online shoppers to the 2025 model; the 2025 EX30 launches July 8, Volvo said. The configurator at Volvo's UK site advisers visitors, "EX30 Model Year 2024 is no longer available for new configurations. However you are welcome to browse our stock cars." At the time of writing, we did not find any similar notice on the Volvo sites for France, Germany, or Sweden. A poster on a UK forum for EX30 owners wrote to another member that ordering's been disabled on the UK site for three months. And it's a popular model. Volvo has more than 35,000 units in Europe through the end of May, making it the third-best-selling selling EV there after the Tesla Model Y and Model 3. Every new car comes with its share of hiccups. Based on checking forums, owners seem thoroughly pleased with the EX30's build quality. The hiccups here and in general with EVs is that their primary issues trace back to software (on top of the usual mechanical issues all vehicles face). On that UK forum for EX30 owners, the Recent Topics tab is peppered with threads about problems with the hatchback, the Faults & Technical section contains 85 individual topics (some of which are undoubtedly duplicates or misplaced).
