1989 Project Car Volvo 740 Sedan Gray Cloth Restoration Parts Movie Runs Drives on 2040-cars
Bellflower, California, United States
Up for NO RESERVE auction is a complete running 1989 Volvo 740. This car was purchased many years ago at a lein sale auction and it has been parked at my Volvo shop for many years. We have used it for training and slow day work so there are some things such as the timing belt that have been replaced over the years. Overall though it has been parked outdoors and looks it; it would make an excellent donor car for a restoration project, a stunt car for a movie shoot, or the basis for a demolition derby machine or even something like that flamethrower car in the movie Bellflower. When you start with a cheap running car like this and let your imagination run wild, ANYTHING is possible! Vehicle comes with old lien sale paperwork so it can be registered, and/or disposed of legally and properly once you've executed your plans for this project car. Even smashed into a 2-ton cube, it's worth a few $$ in the scrap market. I can assist the buyer with obtaining a 1-day moving permit for pickup day. Because the registration is expired and there is no PNO, I don't know how much it would be to register it to drive around, maybe over $1000? You might fall in love with the car and decide to go through the hoops to register and keep it- after 30 years in the car business I've seen it happen time and again. Or you have a 740 from 86-92 that's tired or has been crashed and you need a complete donor car- hooray, here is exactly everything you need for your project! The gray cloth seats are remarkable for the age. Pre-bid inspection is welcome and encouraged before you bid. It's not registered to go driving on the street but we can drive it around the parking lot and even put it up on a hoist if you need, how often does THAT happen on a used car purchase? Once the gavel falls, it is yours as-is, where is; while it is complete it hasn't been driven very far for years so no guarantee it will drive a particular distance. That said, you should be able to drive it home locally okay; but the farther from Los Angeles County you're going, the more moxie and resourcefulness you might need along the way. Payment in full within 7 days. If you have to arrange transportation we can accomodate a pickup all day M-F during business hours, it should go smoothly. Once paid in full I can be a little flexible about time to arrange transport. No-reserve auction, bid to win this running 1989 Volvo 740! |

2015 Volvo XC90
Wed, 27 Aug 2014
The new XC90 isn't just about the new XC90 - it's as much about the new generation of Volvos that will result.
Around the turn of the millennium, Volvo seemed like the perfect automaker to make a crossover. It had, after all, already established for itself a reputation for building all-wheel-drive wagons for transporting families in safety and comfort. But while its competitors marched one by one into the luxury utility market, Volvo held out. That was, anyway, until the debut of the original XC90 in 2002. And it's never looked back since.
Volvo considering offering V60 wagon in the US
Tue, 12 Mar 2013For the 2014 model year, the Volvo product line is shrinking to just five models in the United States: the S60, S80, XC60, XC70 and XC90. This comes following the death of the C30 hatchback and C70 convertible, which are being discontinued after the 2013 model year. The S40 sedan and V50 wagon were axed two years ago, as was the larger V70.
That may not be the case, however. According to Automotive News, Volvo is rethinking its decision to not sell the V60 wagon, pictured, in the United States. The automaker had originally decided to not offer the V60 in our market due to declining American wagon sales. A decision is expected to be made sometime in the next quarter, and if approved, sales of the V60 could begin in the US within the next year.
At the Geneva Motor Show last week, Volvo showed off refreshed versions of nearly every vehicle in its lineup. In the US, these will be the only changes coming to the Volvo brand over the next two years. The next big product launch in the States will be the all-new XC90 crossover, developed under new parent company Geely. The range-topping SUV will ride on the company's new flexible SPA platform, which will also underpin the next-generation versions of the S60, S80 and XC60.
2023 Volvos get mild-hybrid engines, XC40 and S60 see styling tweaks
Wed, May 4 2022For 2023, Volvo's entire lineup will now feature both mild-hybrid assist engines and Google Android-based infotainment. Additionally, a couple of models are getting some styling updates. As for powertrains, the XC90, XC40 and V60 Cross Country are finally getting base engines with Volvo's 48-volt hybrid assist. This means that every Volvo on sale will have some level of electrification as standard, and of course plug-in hybrid and full-electric versions of some of its models continue to be offered. The Google Android-based infotainment system's availability is also expanding to the gas-powered XC40 models as well as the S60 and V60 models. As with electrification, this update means every Volvo has the same kind of infotainment. The perks of the new infotainment system include the ability to run apps and features such as Google Maps and Voice Assistant natively in the infotainment system, instead of needing to use a phone. It also enables over-the-air updates so that older models can still have the latest functions. Rounding out the updates are some styling changes for certain models. The S60 and V60 models get new grilles and rear bumper inserts. The XC40 features new headlights, front bumpers and grilles. New colors and wheels are on offer for all models, and Volvo has dropped trim level designations for all cars. The updated Volvo models are going into production with availability this summer. Pricing has not been announced yet. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
