Hi,

You are bidding on a piece of Swedish history in this 1982 Volvo 240 Wagon. When I purchased the vehicle 5 years ago, the plan was to restore and make whole again unfortunately advances in technology, and my limited time to dedicate to this project has ended this journey. The body is in very good condition minus fading paint and some rust bubbles on the roof and side quarter panel other than that its pretty solid for its age. The interior is in pretty good condition other than needing a new carpet and repair the tear in the front driver's seat. This old bird doesn't have air conditioning but the heat is "devil's fire."  The majority of the work on the vehicle has been basic upgrades to its age like new belts, tires, tune ups, front and rear shocks, cd player and speakers. I also can include work records to the winning bidder. The car has been sitting for about six months, I found out that it needed a new fuel distributor system and after taking to a couple of mechanics no one could or wanted to put the time in repairing the matter. Basically, the car would start and then just cut off or you could be driving and it would just cut off. We experimented with adjusting the idle and replacing mostly all of the fuel system components to no avail. Also the car needs a new exhaust system from the catalytic converter on back and finally it needs new rear tag lights. The shock absorbers for the rear hatch also are in need of repair as the rear gate can slam loudly. Like any good owner, I would like for the car to go a true volvo enthusiast that could revive her back to new. The odometer is reading at about 160,000 however we had a stint when the odometer froze so the mileage is not accurate but not too far off. Based on the title I think I am the third owner and the car was very well taken car of. I'm asking $1500 or best offer but please only serious bidders please don't insult me with unrealistic offers. Shipping costs are not included in the price and its the winning bidders responsibility to secure transport of the vehicle. I will only accept Paypal bids and the title will be mailed as soon the payment is confirmed. The winning bidder will have 5 days to secure the vehicle once the payment is confirmed. All sales are final and I have done my best to accurately describe the condition of this vehicle. Please email any further questions about the car and I can also attach additional pictures. Thanks for looking!!

Volvo opens order books for XC90 First Edition

Wed, 03 Sep 2014

The new Volvo XC90 breaks new ground in any number of ways. It's based on a new modular platform, packs new engines, introduces a new design language and incorporates a whole slew of new safety systems. Even in its sales approach, it takes Volvo into new territory.
In what Volvo calls an industry first, the first 1,927 examples of the new XC90 will be sold online. Those First Edition models, whose production numbers honor the year of the company's founding, will come fully equipped in T6 AWD guise with the twin-charged (but not hybrid) 316-horsepower engine, air suspension, Bowers & Wilkins audio system and 21-inch Inscription alloys, decked out in black with a tan Nappa leather interior, all for $65,900.
As you can see from the online store, ordering has officially begun. Get one while they're hot.

Volvo debuts new Drive-E four-cylinder engines

Fri, 16 Aug 2013

Volvo is introducing a new engine family based on its new Drive-E philosophy, which encompasses "all innovations made to reduce the impact on the environment," the automaker says. Less cylinders allows for less environmental impact, so the new engines are all four-pots. They also were designed to pair easily with Volvo's upcoming hybrid drive system, which "will reach power figures in the V8 territory" and play a "dominant part of the top end of [Volvo's] range," says Derek Crabb, Vice President Powertrain Engineering. Volvo also says we can expect "power curves that give exciting drivability compared with engines with more cylinders."
Volvo says some versions of the engine were designed targeting best-in-class fuel economy. There are both gasoline and diesel options, but the latter of which isn't scheduled for US consumption. Instead, the US will be offered two states of tune of the gasoline Drive-E engine for front-wheel-drive vehicles. Some of Volvo's current all-wheel-drive powertrains will remain available in the US until the company has transitioned solely to the new, fuel-efficient inline-fours.

Junkyard Gem: 2006 Volvo V50 T5 AWD

Sun, Aug 25 2024

During my explorations of junkyard history, I've written about discarded Volvo station wagons going back to the middle 1960s. The final Goteborg wagons with brick shapes and rear-wheel-drive were sold in the United States as 1998 models, but the new century brought us plenty of curvy front- and all-wheel-drive longroof Volvos, many of which have been built with manual transmissions. Here's one of those cars: a 2006 V50 T5 AWD with six-on-the-floor manual gearbox, found in a Denver-area car graveyard. The V50 was the wagon version of the S40 sedan. Sales in the United States began with the 2005 model, and it was discontinued after 2011. The base 2006 V50 had a naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter straight-five engine, but this car is a T5 and has the turbocharged 2.5 version with 218 horses and 236 pound-feet. A six-speed manual was the base transmission, but of course most American V50 buyers opted for the five-speed automatic. That wasn't the case with this car, which must have been fun to drive in the snow. The final year for a three-pedal Volvo in the United States was 2013. There's some body damage, but the interior is in good shape. We can assume that some expensive mechanical problem sent this car here. Like so many Denver-area cars, this one has Colorado brewery stickers. It also has some pit bull stickers. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
