Instrument Cluster problems as most Volvos of this vintage experience. You can get one here on Ebay for $199.99. Gas, temperature and clock work fine, odometer stopped at 216k or so and speedometer doesn't function either.

Blower motor blows fine on 1 speed and heat will roast you. Fan on high speed is noisy, but, like I said, on low speed runs great and will toast you good! Windshield wipers are fine and wiper fluid works great, too.

Passenger side windows go up and down nicely. Drivers windows are locked in the up position; too cold for me to take doors apart to see  what's wrong.

Motor purrs like your GrandMom's "Mixmaster," Transmission shifts nicely hot or cold.

Body and interior are noteworthy; no tears in interior, perfect headliner too. Rubber trim still where it should be on doors (sometimes it shrinks on this Volvo series). Non smoker's vehicle. No kids, or pets either.

Body is in very good shape, some paint nicks over the years but no rust holes or big spots (little ones either, that I can find.) The drivers rear door handle has been removed but the door still opens correctly and safely from the inside. I took the car to a body shop and was told that's an easy fix. I don't believe in putting money into used cars to sell them, however. If the car is safe, which this one is, I present it as is. Again, all safety features work and the motor and tranny are solid. No oil burning that I can detect. A friendly neighbor borrowed a hubcap from me; I suppose he'll (or she) will give it back. Tires are good on this doll, also.

All turn signals and lighting work safely and nicely. You could drive this one from Miami to Seattle if you wanted to, in my humble estimation. That statement DOES NOT IMPLY A WARRANTEE OF ANY SORT.

I sold this car to my friend's Mom in early 2006 after I had used it for a couple of years. She's 83 now and no longer driving, and asked me if I would buy it back. I did. It passed Indiana emissions, and I custom plated it. I AM A HUGE GUY, and its a bit restrictive for me to drive daily, now, so, all I am attempting to do is recoup what I gave her, and my license and title transfer fees. Its that simple.

New ebay'ers are dealt with accordingly; this is not lets make a deal and you don't win a prize for being highest bidder. You "earn" the right to pay me and take possession of this vehicle. I keep my listings clear for honest, experienced buyers who don't want prices driven up by someone new and broke, looking for thrills.

Automotive April Fools' joke roundup [w/videos]

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Happy April, everyone. And we all know what this first day of the month means: April Fools' Day. Today is a national holiday for pranksters with the Internet acting as a serious enabler, and it's always fun to see what kind of vivid imaginations exist out there in the automotive world. The abundance of fake news gets a little old as the day rolls on, but we did manage to get in a few chuckles thanks to a handful of major automakers and automotive news outlets that got into the pranking spirit this year
Some of our favorites this year includes Subaru showing what happens when you combine a bunch of rumors, a Corvette some may have already thought was a joke or Honda providing some in-car innovation circa the late 1980s. Honestly, we're still waiting for official confirmation from Mitsubishi that the recently introduced 2014 Mirage is an elaborate April Fools' joke using a failed design intended for the 1995 Geo Metro. We dug up as much "official" OEM foolishness we could find, as well as some of our other favorites, and posted them all below.

Volvo shows inflatable child seat concept [w/video]

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

Volvo is bringing its emphasis on safety and design to the littlest members of the family with its concept for an inflatable, rearward facing child safety seat. The design is meant to help traveling families by offering a lighter and less bulky alternative to traditional car seats.
The design is quite ingenious. The seat is covered in drop-stitched fabric, which fills with air to create the form of the seat. An electric motor in it allows inflation and deflation in less than 40 seconds, according to Volvo. It weighs less than 5 kilograms (11 pounds) and folds small enough when collapsed to fit into a bag. It even has a Bluetooth connection, so parents can begin expanding it remotely.
The inflatable seat in the brainchild of Lawrence Abele, Volvo's design manager at its Monitoring and Concept Center in Los Angeles, CA. "For many, travelling with young children is a challenge; any assistance to simplify the parents' life with young children is a great thing," he said in a statement released by Volvo. The chair remains a concept for now, and the automaker isn't saying whether it's going to put it into production, but it's a clever solution to a common problem. Scroll down for a video showing it in action and to read the release.
