1991 Volvo 240 Base Sedan 4 Door Manual Transmission 149k Miles on 2040-cars
Corona, California, United States
This listing is for a 1991 volvo 240, car starts every time, runs well, shifts great. I drive it about 20 miles roundtrip 5 days a week and has never failed me in the past 6 months. I bought the car with a salvaged title. The only thing i have done to it was buy the 15 inch Turbo wheels and have given it an oil change. Body repairs were already complete when I bought it. Repairs were done to quarter panel and driver side passenger door (repairs can be seen in pics).
Vehicle is being sold as-is and is not perfect but overall looks great inside and out. True miles are unknown as of about a month ago reason why I am selling it. The speedometer started acting up and wasn't registering the speed. There is days that it will work and days it will not work. When the speedometer works the miles do register on the odometer so odometer does work as well as the trip meter. Not sure if its a simple fix, but im not car savvy and don't have the extra cash to spend to fix. Car has power windows and power locks, all windows work, but at times roll up and down slowly. Car has original radio and speakers but only one speaker works, and not well. Will need repairs to radio. Car does not have original antenna so not sure if thats the problem. Car has A/C but does not blow cold, heater does work. Driver front seat Large knob sometimes comes off, but does not affect the adjustment of the seat. Interior is about a 7 out of 10 no tears on seats or carpets, there is a crack on dash (pics). Exterior is a 7 out of 10 paint is good some chipping and hood is faded compared to the rest of the car,, right taillight has small crack (pic). Repairs to driver side passenger door are evident(pics). Tint on the car looks good, but was not done professionally. Car is California registered until August 2014. Salvaged Title. Car runs great and shifts great, there is squeaks here and there that I hear when I drive it, but it starts right up everyday. There is no known problems. Buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping of this vehicle and would have to make arrangements. The car must be paid within 10 days and a deposit of 500 is due within 48 hours. My car is being listed in as-is condition and no warranties are expressed or implied. Please feel free to message me with any questions. I will be more than happy to answer them. |

Volvo aligning model range into three families
Thu, 28 Aug 2014Things have been slow in Gothenburg the past few years, but they're picking up speed. The only new model Volvo has released in the past four years since it was taken over by Geely - that being the V40 introduced in 2012 - started its development when the company was still under Ford's umbrella. But now the Swedish automaker is preparing to launch a volley of new models, and the new XC90 is only the starting point.
Volvo has set out to align its product portfolio into three model families - 40, 60 and 90 - each with three body-styles: sedan, wagon and crossover. (Volvo presented a tidy little table, which we've replicated below, to outline what it has in store.) That means a new S40 sedan and XC40 crossover as well as a replacement for the current V40 wagon, all to be based on a new platform shared with Geely. It also means replacements for the current S60, V60 and XC60 to be based on the modular SPA platform that underpins the new XC90, as well as a new S90 sedan to replace the S80 and a new V90 wagon to succeed the V70 and move it up-market above the V60.
All of these models are set to arrive within the next four years as Volvo moves to replace its entire lineup by 2019 and subsequently move to more competitive seven-to-eight-year product life-cycles. But as aggressively as Volvo is pursuing this renewal of its core models, they're not the only things Gothenburg has in store. Keep reading below to learn how Volvo's model line will flesh out over the coming years.

Volvo demos autonomous self-parking car concept
Thu, 20 Jun 2013A number of companies are developing autonomous vehicle technology - Google and Audi come to mind - but Volvo is applying its work in the area to a particular usage case: parking. The Swedish automaker has the technology up and running in a concept vehicle, which it says can be dropped off at the curb by its owner and left to its own devices to enter and navigate a car park, then find and park in an available parking spot. Volvo says the process can even be reversed when the owner is ready to go, with the car leaving the car park on its own to meet its key-holder again at the curb.
The vehicle first interacts with Vehicle 2 Infrastructure technology, which places transmitters in the road itself to inform the car (and driver) if the self-parking service is available. The driver then hops out, activates the Self Parking function on his or her smartphone and then leaves the car to do its work. The car uses sensors, all seemingly hidden from view (an advancement of its own in this field), to autonomously navigate the car park, which includes interacting and adjusting to other cars, people and objects.
The technology used here builds off of Volvo's other work in autonomous vehicle research, namely the Safe Road Trains for the Environment (SARTRE) project in which the company managed to create a train of four cars autonomously following a lead truck at speeds up 56 miles per hour. Volvo says the first application of its autonomous research in a production vehicle will happen at the end of 2014 with some level of autonomous steering available in the next-generation XC90. See the system in action by watching the video below.
