There are two small cracks in the dash; picky, picky. So, the dash cover has been doing it's job.

It has cruise control. It has power locks. It has power steering. The heater works.
It has the original Volvo AM-FM radio and it works well.

It has a NEW CLUTCH, PRESSURE PLATE AND THROW OUT BEARING.

It has an M-47 5 speed transmission that was recently installed and is now working GREAT and ready to go.
The newer 5-speed transmission disabled the speedometer.
So I have installed a GPS for the speed reading function. It works GREAT!!

The car has 134,000 miles on it.

It is very clean and runs great. It has roll up windows. and door power locks.

It is Arizona registered until next year (2015).

Call Jack at: 760-481-8710
.

I am in Southern California, about 45 minutes north of San Diego.

It has good power for a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder engine.

This Volvo gets 20 to 25 miles per gallon of regular fuel. The air conditioning is not working, it probably needs a charge.

It has good brakes both front and rear. It has a near new water pump and runs cool.

This is a solid and dependable car. The body is straight and the interior original and in good condition. The tires are fair.

Volvo PV444 turns 70

Sun, 31 Aug 2014

Volvo has made all manner of vehicles over the course of its long history, including coupes, convertibles, hatchbacks, sedans, wagons and SUVs. But the vehicle that started it all was the PV444.
Or rather, we should say, the PV444 is what re-started it all. Because while it wasn't Volvo's first model, it was the first one it produced after the war. Monday, September 1, will mark 70 years since the PV444 first debuted at the Royal Tennis Hall in Stockholm pictured above, where the company received 148,437 visitors.
That presentation there took place shortly before the end of World War II when the vehicle wasn't even finished yet. A team of 40 engineers and designers were still fine-tuning the final version, but were eager to show the public what it would start building after the last bullet was fired and peace would return to Europe.

Volvo still undecided on offering plug-in hybrid versions of all models

Thu, 03 Jul 2014

The automotive world is only a few months away from getting its first real glimpse at Volvo's big gamble with the unveiling of the next-generation XC90 (pictured above as the Concept XC Coupe). We're already getting a preview of the revolutionary upgrades with the introduction of the Swede's Volvo Engine Architecture family into some of its 2015 models, like the recently driven S60. These changes are just the start, though. The real magic could be in the powertrains.
Dean Shaw, Volvo Cars North America vice president of corporate communications hinted to Autoblog a few months ago that every model sold in the US could come in a plug-in hybrid variant, starting with the new XC90. Despite confirmation rumors that this has now come to pass, Shaw told AutoblogGreen that the only thing Volvo is confirming right now is that the platform is capable of that. "We haven't confirmed that all US Volvos would be available with PHEV," he said.
Shaw did confirm that that XC90 will come with a gas and plug-in hybrid powertrain that offers "around 400 horsepower." According to Plugin Cars, the new XC90 will be unveiled in August and will make its public debut at an as-yet-unnamed auto show in the fall. Also, sometime during the 2016 model year, a plug-in hybrid variant will be added to its lineup.

This Volvo truck is for the birds... literally

Fri, 16 Nov 2012

If you were mentally scarred by the Alfred Hitchcock thriller The Birds, you may not want to watch this video. For everyone else, this is a rather perplexing event. It appears that thousands of pigeons are released from a Volvo truck at the command of a whistle. It looks visually stunning, but for what purpose? Well, we're not entirely sure, but it looks to be the simultaneous release at the start of a major pigeon race.
Now, we don't suspect that Volvo has eschewed its self-titled Volvo Ocean Race for a more avian-inspired competition. We're also not quite sure where this competition is being held, but it may be an annual event, as we also found a similar video with a different MAN rig on YouTube that was posted in 2011. but if you have even the slightest case of Ornithophobia, you best steer clear of this feathered mob. Otherwise, check out the video of this massive flock on the move in the video below. We've even thrown in a video of the gas station scene from Hitchcock's 1963 classic to get you in the mood.
